Strings - which ones have the most 'thump'?
KennysFord replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Bass Guitars
I'd say Sunbeams as well. I've not found any string that comes close if you want rounds and old school tone. They're very warm sounding and feel lovely under the fingers too. -
Pretty sure Goerts "signature"basses are all Jazzers.

I've been looking at different amps to try as my current amp, a Yamaha BBT500H is a modeling amp and you have to play thru' a preset. I'm trying to get away from that so I'm trying to find something with a warm Old School kinda tone and my last trier, a GK MB200 was a little too modern sounding for me hence me trying the BH500. I got the amp today and first impressions albeit through a 16 ohm Ashdown 110 ......aren't that great. OK but not great. Bear in mind that I've only tried it thru' the Ashdown 110 at home up to now but I'll be running it thru' a Techsoundsystems ND212T at rehearsal tomorrow so will update then. With the tone set flat and "no contour" the sound is very sterile and lifeless and really lacking in warmth on all three of my Basses. With the contour switched on it does warm things up a tad but not as much as I was hoping. Tweetertone adds nothing but maybe that's because there ain't one in the cab. I'm hoping the Ashdown cab is at fault, bless it, it's only a basic 110 so we'll see more tomorrow I guess. Hopefully things will improve somewhat. Through the Ashdown cab my Yamaha BBT500H sounds warmer but the TC wins thru' the cans so hopefully that'll be the same when I play it thru' a decent cab. With my Ibanez Blazer (the musicman esc pickup type) thru' the Yamaha / Ashdowm the bottom end is surprisingly nice and fat and the mids are very burpy and jump out nicely but it's all lost thru' the TC, it just sounds MEH. Both My P and J Basses sound OK but again there's no real improvement over the Yamaha. Fingers crossed for tomorrow then I guess.

Here's me I got this: Enthusiasm for music - 70% Musical perception - 99% Emotional connection - 47% Social creativity - 70% Musical curiosity - 65% I'm a kinda 2 or 3 genre guy so maybe that put my enthusiasm down a bit and I too got some of the beat tapping things at medium. Oh dear !! I'm happy with the melody one tho', I got them all right.

I'm not sure what advice to follow re running this amp with two cabs. I've good results (to me anyway) running a 4ohm 212 cab with my 8ohm BFM 210 sat up top so the drivers are all vertical. I realise this is not the ideal but I like some volume at ear height, the Omni cab runs at less volume than the 212 which is good....to me. My current amp is designed to run at 2ohms but is the BH500 good for 2.67Ohms or whatever it is. Thanks in advance B-)

I think the Toneprint feature is pretty amazing, an effects pedal from your Mobile Phone, who'd a thunk it ! Reckon it's a pretty cool piece of kit, it might be ugly but who cares, it sounds pretty good.

Just pulled the trigger on one of these. £339 ex display. I've been looking for a suitable Old Skool sounding amp for The Blues Band and after quite a bit of research thought that it would do very nicely thankyou. I'll report back once I've put it through it's paces with the Techsoundystems 212. I'm thinking it will be a rather nice combination, well I'm hoping it will be

Bass Strings - How Long Do Yours Last ?
KennysFord replied to BassMan94's topic in General Discussion
DR Sunbeams here. They get better the older they are, well to me anyway -
Hi Folks, I've been looking at getting an Ipad2 for headphone practise, general muso stuff and app amp modeling etc etc and other general fun musical type stuff, sooooo Before I pull the trigger are there any android tablets i should consider just in case. I know there was an issue with lag on Android Gingerbread but that's old hat now I guess. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated before I go spending 300 odd I shouldn't of. Cheers.

!00% agree with FlatEric on that, they do have a fantastic punch and the notes really jump out all the way to the top. Again, out of all the basses I've owned the Blazer is the only one where the tone has given me goosebumps at a gig. I've bought and sold quite a few mid priced Basses since the Blazer arrived just to see if I could improve on it to the point that I could finally afford an actual Fender Precision earlier this year albeit an MIJ. Now I love my P to bits but guess which Bass is going to rehearsal tomorrow night.

Hey Folks, The GK tone isn't for me,I'm more of an Old Skool kinda guy, so .....I've decided to move this amp on. 200watts into 4ohms, fits in your gig bag and weighs 2lb. I bought it used of here a few weeks ago, condition is as new and comes in the original packaging. £160 posted to mainland UK...price is firm please and no trades on this folks unless it's an ipad2 with cash your way. Bank transfer preferred. Cheers. Edit Price dropped a tenner due to "new price" being a little lower than I originally thought.

Fender P-Bass comparison. Guess which is which!
KennysFord replied to Miki Groove's topic in Bass Guitars
I prefer; Clip 2 Clip 3, Clip 1 I reckon 1st is the 71, 2nd is the 58 and the Mex is last. But what the hell do I know, nice chops. -
Funny as hell, Marlowe was bloody spot on !! Hilarious.
