2. Breakfast time BUMP
3. Another one has to go to fund the P-bass. I'm going to be sorry to see it go but needs must unfortunatly. Here we go 1983 Aria SB II Elite in Pearl White/Gold hardware I'm lead to believe the elite series was created for the US Market, simular to the black and gold model as used by Cliff Burton. It's pretty identical to an SB 900 apart from the neck profile and inlays which are the eye looking ones. The good bits All electronics are in top working order. Neck is straight and true with easy access to all 24 frets. Neck-thru construction Action is low and fast balances nicely on a strap or not. Recent set up newish strings I'm not sure how to sum this bass up tone wise, its very 80s, and it's everything you'd expect from Matsumoku quality wise. The not so good bits non original wilkinson tuners finish has the odd ding but nothing too bad. No extra routes or anything bass is in 9/10 condition EDIT Pics via email. Was previously sold by gaf bass 02 on here for less than I'm re selling for. This is because Ive sorted out some niggles and it has new strings and a case which it didn't before £300 for cash or I'd be interested in a trade, something japanese would be good, Ibanez Blazer/Roadstar, something explorer shaped maybe? I don't know. I'd like a straight swap or cash my way though
4. Your a legend. Thanks James
5. I'm having a bit of a clear out to fund a new P-bass so unfortunatly this, and a few others have to go. Early 80s Matsumoku factory built Westone Thunder 1a with the old style logo. 1 refers to the number of pickups and a refers to the active preamp. Model P clone pickup, 18v switchable active preamp. Controls are Volume, passive tone, active treble/bass boost. The two switches bring the active part of the pre in and out and control coil tap if you want it Fast J-style neck Bolt on construction gives a real P-bass tone. Bass balances nicely on or off a strap. Brass fender style bridge (works better than the bent bit of tin) Good bits. Neck, body and fingerboard are in very good condition. All electronics are fully functioning Intonation is good, neck is straight and true. Build quality is excellent as you'd expect from a matsumoku. Bass has had recent set up and Rotos. Not so good bits. Pickup cover needs replacing, this doesnt affect playabilty at all, just a cosmetic issue more than anything. Heads of control cavity screws are a bit rounded, I havnt had any need to go in there but they'll be easy enough to remove I reckon. Tuners aren't original. Control knobs aren't original (Gibson style 'speed' knobs) I'm at a loss for anything else Comes with gig bag, pickup prefered but postage at buyers cost possible. Try before you buy welcome. First to play will buy. Pics to follow or via email on request. Type westone Thunder 1a into you tube to hear it, video posted by the previous owner.
6.
Yeah but I am not to be trusted I love all of these
Whats the story behind the cow print jazz? I love it!
7. Well Eric, if you ever get around to selling a rail hit me up. Anyone spotted T-40 s being used anywhere in the mainstream? Friendly Fires had one in a video not so long ago.
8. Mine is on a dimarzio lock strap thingy. Same as my other basses. I'm in the habbit of giving it hell on stage so I had to go for security over comfort. The weight doesn't bother me too much. Just play it slightly higher so my back doesn't bend too much.
9. You'll be ok man. Got a good chiropractor?
10. Jesus they look good in burst colours!
11. Hi I'm Ash and I've been a T-40aholic for 5 years. Mine is a 79 toaster, natural 5 piece ash (well four of the 5 are ash anyway) maple necked mojo beast. There's not really anything special about it as far as finish goes but that doesn't matter, tone matters and she has bags of it!
12. Hi mate. Kind of all of the above I suppose. Is it a trunk of a neck? I had a 78 which I miss the neck of dearly, it was pure poetry. I'm immagining it's glossed, not really a major issue. Is it deep? Mine was quite wide at the nut but then shallow. Kind of like a rick I suppose. I know what I mean but it's hard to word. I tend to either love or hate p necks and there's never anything real behind it. Just that something that necks either have or don't. Wow I sound pretentious now. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't answer re Reading that. Lol
13. Same year as mine too! You will not be disappointed
14. Both mine are none original. Makes no difference at all to anything really.
15. Ill mow your lawn/do your gardening once a month for the summer?
16.
Hold it right there!!! I think yours is a '79, Toaster?? I have now started to re-string all mine (when they need doing) both toaster and blade. In the past on the 40, I have used Rotosound, Stadium Elites, Martin and D' Addario. Stuck a set of Picato 735 LHY on one of my Toasters, also a 79 and . . . . .WOW!!! I have used up the six sets that I bought and have another 10 sets on the way. I am using these on almost everything now. Where;s the catch??? There isn't one!! Great strings, great feel, great tone, equal balance across all four strings and . . . . . . les than £8 a set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brings out a real "punch, bark and growl" Click on the link below. Stringmail I'll post a pic of mine later. Cheers.
Maybe Ill try that. Im gonna be pretty annoyed if I prefer them to the rotosound strings Ive used for the last 4 years as I just got a Rotosound artist deal mind. Does it not stand to reason though that Id get even more growl out of a rail? Mine is indeed a 79 toaster. Maybe I should just save for a rail one, not sell mine A/B the 2 then decide which i prefer. Oh the possibilities..........
17. I reckon someone missed with the routing machine.
18. I played mine at rehearsal yesterday through my sans-amp. I had to change the settings a bit from my jazz to compensate for the low end and dead strings combination but once I was done I had some serious growl. I'm really toying with the idea of trying to trade mine for a rail one because they're a little hotter Im told?
19. Good to see some T-basses around recently. I aquired a 4 not so long ago and I gotta say it sounds amazing!
20. I also say do it!
21. There's a cheaper one eBay too
22. Did you buy this after? I have a pearl white Elite II which Id recommend to anyone. I reckon this would be just as good. As far as Im aware it has the same electronics and neck as the black and gold Cliff Burton used. The Elite II is really easy to play for long periods of time and if you have fenders too (as I do) the neck is always a pleasant surprise when you pick it up. I vote do it.
