Is it basically a 24 fret P bass? Whats the pickup? Also love the murdered out look. I have a Maruszczyk on order that's as black as its possible to be aswell.
  2.
Speaking of G&L, my revelation of the year was dropping an MFD into a Squier Matt Freeman, a sort of poor man's L1000. It easily holds it's own against my other (much more expensive) basses
That's an awesome idea!

    Pedal preamps?
DHA VT1 DI EQ. I've tried Sansamps, MXRs, Aguilars and kept coming back to the Dave Hall - if you want the sound of a valve being driven hard, then get a valve and drive it hard!
As you'll see from my signature there is no lack of valves in my rig. I've never heard of that one. I'm gonna Google it

    Pedal preamps?

I've had my trusty Sansamp BDDI for 10 years come January, while there's really nothing wrong with it, it would appear the market for gritty pedal preamps has exploded and I quite fancy a change. Whats good at the moment?
  5. I wonder what the most purchased brand has been on BC this year. I've bought new from Ibanez and Maruszczyk, and second hand Laney and Markbass.
  6.
Wanted a PJ for a new project and as an alternative to my Bob Glaub been watching the thread with interest and based on the comments about people's experience and quality of the instruments decided to order a jake from stock. Buying experience was excellent bass arrived 3 days after ordering it First impressions really light, excellent finish quality hardware , haussel pick ups are really hot , neck slimmer and shallower than I would normally choose but found it really easy to get used to Used at rehearsal last night sounded great in a full band setting, normally use flats but have left the rounds on and am liking the contrast. Sorry about the poor quality pictures but you get the idea
Congrats mate. I agonised over that one for a good few days.
  7.
...and a snapshot from today after finally getting the SR800LE last Friday after a 25 or so year search. I think it's time to stop for sure. That being said, I really would like to get a Wal MkII in the future
There's a few in there on my bucket list!

  9. Depending on how my incoming Jake goes. I may have to order a Mr Tee with two Jazz buckers in it.
  10.
It's the Infinity. Here is the bass in question for anyone that is interested.
I'd be heart broken if I owned that and anything happened to it. What a beautiful bass!
  11.
Yep - my own fault. I thought a maple board would be nice alternative, but it turns out I'm dyed-in-the-wool rosewood. Adrian won't send me a neck 'cos they're carefully matched to the bodies, so... here I am. As soon as it sells, my order is going in for another.
Thats a shame. It certainly is a looker.
  12.
8 Weeks! ... paah I still have 23 months to wait for my new Wal...
My problems now seem small fry in comparison. That must be agonising.
  13. I love my SR. It's a million times more bass than its price tag would lead you to believe.
  14. I'm starting to wish I'd bought an off the peg one now. The wait is killing me and i still have atleast 8 weeks to go Still it will be worth it in the end. Having it custom spec'd and being different to any of the others (as far as I know mine is the only one with one of the features I have asked for, to date) will make it a little more special. *edited for poor grammar*
  15.
This choice one from sabbath has to be a contender
I'd have to agree with this.
  16. Has this always been the case with Warwick?
  17.
A snapshot from earlier in the year
Loving the Alembic. one day
  18. It depends what the trade was for I guess. I wouldnt go letting anything major go for it

    NBD Incoming

Jelous! Owning an Alembic is a life goal of mine.
  20.
I've been offered an ealy 90's Washburn MB8 in a trade. I'm told they are pretty good, USA made with Status pickups. Has anyone played or owned one, what did you think of it?
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/151721-info-on-washburn-mb8-help-please/ hopefully theres some usefull info in here.
  21.
Isn't that like a BMW garage saying, "when we change your gear-box we'll give it a complete re-spray. You have to pay for that because as the original spec didn't include chips and scratches, that's the only way we'll send it back out." Or am I missing something. What if you like a road-worn looking Warwick? They'd throw a fit if they saw my Corvette. I've got dings and scrapes and Chinese writing on the back of mine.
My thoughts were similar. It's a good job they don't make cars! I can't imagine its an option many people take up. I dare say if any of the UK Luthiers had built you something they charged £8,000+ for you'd get pretty good after sales support. Its not even asif you'd be adding much value to the bass, the second hand market for warwicks has always been heavily geared towards the buyer.
  22.
Thanks for the tip on the G&Ls - I never really considered them because of the close pickup spacing on most models and the fact that the neck pickup is a long way from the neck. How does this affect the bottom end? I guess I need to try one. The reason the Rithmic is top of my list is because I've heard nothing but good things about them and it looks like the kind of thing I'm after in terms of scale, pickup configuration and string spacing (not that that means a lot, I know and I've yet to play one myself). Thanks for all the advice, keep it coming!
My L2000 has bottom end in spades. I'd recommend playing one for sure The preamp in the L Series is a bit left field, its cut only and has switch controlled series/parallel and active/passvie. I personally like it but if you dont have a go on an M Series, its a similar beast but it has a bass, mid, teble boost/cut preamp.
  23.
More importantly how the hell do you pronounce Maruszczyk?
Mar-oo-chich. I wondered this too.
  24. I really want a Mr Tee
  25. I can't recommend G&L Tributes highly enough. The L series and JB would fit in nicely with what you describe, and they can be had for a steal on Thomann
