If you're thinking P and want something a little different might I suggest a Lakland? I've had my skyline bob Glaub for 3 weeks now and it's completely left my other basses in the cupboard. I've always liked P's but every Fender I've played or owned (MIM 50s, CIJ 51, CIJ 70, US 78, US 2012) has had something missing. The lakland has everything in spades. The tone knob has a far wider spectrum too.

Cheers Russ, it's nice but I've got another 4 precisions...
Neck feels quite nice & it's not too far off my 70s P Bass...

That wasn't intended to sound like a bad thing. I loved the neck on mine!
As a gibson lover I think the SG bass is a bit of a one trick pony, the pickups in it are particularly weak too. I'd buy the mustang purely becuase it will be more versatile and more fun? Also if you get bored with it you can sell it to me

I just couldn't resist the flat white light caused by all the snow outside!

Need a Pino in my life.

Very nice, CAR and maple go well together.

Yeah. I think a lot of us a devoted Rotosound round geezers. I fancy I'll have a dabble with flats though.

Exactly what happened to me.
I think it will be okay, the bass can do either through or over. Depending on how it went I was thinking of putting some on my T-40, which only does through body :/.
Black basses are super cool. I'm starting to lean towards sunbursts recently though. Can't go wrong with either really, black has to have a maple board though.
As the title says, I've ordered myself some Thomastik Jazz flats after reading this thread

I hope I get on with them, I ordered x-long as they're going on my string-thru lakland, also hoping that's right :/. I'm a long time Rotosound Swingbass player so it's a massive leap into the unknown for me. I'll let you know how I get on. Nervous excitement is building!!
Serial numbers is it i think, apart from finish they'll look similar, the AVs come with ashtrays, both are nitro finished. Not sure if colours are different?
I had a bongo 4 HH briefly, it was a great bass to play, action was good, sat nicely on a strap, was pretty lightweight, neck was amazing but I just couldn't get on with the preamp. I say the same thing about most active basses though.
