1. Burke (from budgie) has a fretted one that he uses at jam nights and other places where he doesn't take take the 60s p bass he's never been seen without in budgie. I played it at a jam night once. Gorgeous bass in a strange ugly sorta way. Ridiculously heavy if I remember right though. That's coming from a T-40 player too.
2. The entire Gibson bass range. All sound great. I have a grabber that just sounds awesome to me. But. And it's a big but every last one is ridiculously neck heavy.
3. f*** me that is the most black thing I've ever seen!
4. Black scratch plate coming to a candy apple red jazz near me!
5. I'd be on this like a rash if it were active
6. Hey Sam. Welcome to the forum, you're right it really is a great resource. I've learned a lot in my time here and am still learning now. I'm gonna check your band out next time I'm on a computer. Sounds sorta DFA1979 esque . I enjoyed reading your blurb. Enjoy the forum. Ash
7. Anyone fancy a car pool to bass direct for a butchers? We really need a good bass shop somewhere in South Wales.
8. Welcome to the forum. With reference to stage fright I found the best thing is to just grab the bull by the horns and go for it. Maybe some Dutch courage would help, but not too much that you can't stand up! You sound like an accomplished musician and a confident person so I'm sure you'll be fine. I really enjoyed reading your intro by the way. I'd love to visit Michigan. Well that said I'd love to visit America in general. Enjoy the forum. I've learned a lot and made some good friends here.
9. They look interesting! Have you any experience?
10. That's a real beauty
11. I think I'm going to go with nordy pickups, stupid as it sounds I want the pole pieces exposed, not covered in epoxy or what ever. The question now is which preamp? East? Audere? Sadowsky? ACG? I don't mind weather it's 3 or 4 knob, if I need a new cavity for the jack I'll probably put a strat style one on the front as opposed to an underneath one. Edit - I should mention I want volume for either pickup, 3 cut and boost band eq, and coil tap on the preamp atleast. I may consider a pickup switch instead of the twin volume controls. Truth be told I'm a little bewildered by the array of options available.
12. I'd love for there to be j sized pickups that can sound like an MM humbucker but I really don't think they're going to pull off what i want. I'm after complete transformation from the pickups. I don't want a jazz sound but fatter, I want as close to a music man sort of sound as i can get if you know what I mean.
13. I'm seriously toying with the idea of doing some serious upgrade work to my CIJ 60s looking jazz. It currently has a pair of Shed hot n dangerous jazz single coils and it's original passive wireing in it. This was fine until I played a sandberg with 2 music man style buckers. I want that tone (similar to anyway) and am seriously toying with the idea of getting some humbuckers and a nice preamp dropped into my jazz now. What combination of pickups and preamp would people suggest? I've looked into Aguilar and east pre's and Delano and nordy pickups. What else is out there? I should also mention I'm trying to keep costs down because I sense the routing will cost a fair bit.
14. If I was a metaller I'd be on this like a rash! Never seen a bongo I liked the look of before.
15. When I got my stage 1 5er it was broad neck or nothing. I think that was in 03 maybe 04. The string spacing was ridiculous for a 5er. Within a year or so I was on my second just a nut III and I really didn't get on with the pre amp. This put me off warwick until fairly recently when I was struck by GAS for an early thumb 4 B/O and the corvette $$.

EBS or Sansamp?

I love my programmable bddi. But it only has one input.
17. The Enfield bass technically has 8 doesn't it?
18. I like the double $ jazz supreme thing. I'd love to get my hands on one of those!
19. I saw Zebra Head the other night. Their bass player had one of these that looked pretty sweet. Traditional jazz shape/config in metallic red (brighter than CAR) with a matching head stock. His had a high mass g&lish looking bridge with black hardware. It looked and sounded awesome. Plenty of 70s jazz growl and bite.
20. I played classical guitar for 2 years or so as a kid, then I learned the bass line for I want you back by the Jackson 5 and tadaaaaa, instant bass player. I didn't get a bass until I realised that the 2 bands in my year group at school both needed bass players though. Never since or again will I ever be in 2 bands at the same time.
21. I'd say build it! You sound like you know enough about electronics to not make a complete hash of it. Failing that get one built? Pm me for details of a slightly odd man in a valley who likes nothing more than building stomp boxes.
22. I've got a guy in Athens (Greece obviously) interested in taking my Aria SB II off my hands. I had a recent bad experience with parcel force which has put me right off them again so the question is who to use? If it makes any difference I'm a little west of Cardiff.
23. Where in Swansea are you fella? Any chance of a trial run?
24. I'm tempted by this, the only thing that's pitting me off the the details either side of the sound holes look a little like sperm to my eyes.
25.
Hey, have a bump - but seriously, anyone see a Status T-bass copy here!? Nice lookin' though perhaps it's something to do with the Trace Elliot/Ashdown change over Patents... etc.
If it's any where near as good as a T-bass that is in no way a bad thing. Ask any owner! The only issue I see is that this is more expensive than a second hand trace and a little less traditional looking.
