1.
er because that...... WOULDNT BE A COMPLIMENT
Why does she need complimenting?
 2.
Amen
God can't help you on this one, what with him not existing and everything...
 3.
There isn't a problem! You guys are making one where there isn't one! The OP complimented someone on their appearance, their playing, their instrument and their composition! That's it! Nothing more, nothing less!
I have a big nose. Would you entitle a video of me playing some heavy dub bass ' Big nose, Big sound', and if so, why not?
 4.
Not everybody see's this as a "problem" - some people seem to invent problems that fit a specific argument! Is the OP Harvey Weinstein all of a sudden? Wise up guys, seriously...
Many drops make an ocean. Wisdom comes in many forms.
 5. Yup, entirely. The fact that you clearly don't see the problem, and don't actually make a real point, other than to express incredulity, speaks volumes.
 6. Without wading through this entire thread, there is absolutely no need or benefit whatsoever in stating that this girl is 'stunning' in the title - this is a bass player forum, not a modelling forum. You wouldn't have opened with 'Great skin tone, great bass tone' if she was black. This kind of casual objectification of an individual is unacceptable and needs calling out.
 7. Bought an ehx soul food pedal off Mike, it arrived today in excellent condition as described, very well packaged too! A nice guy to do business with, and a very smooth transaction. A top basschater!
 8. Yup, I record all the rehearsal for the originals band I'm currently playing with. Most of what we do is jammed/worked out in the session so it's a very useful way of reviewing things and deciding what works and what doesn't. Also, it's invaluable to have a record of new ideas and arrangements. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine most pro bands do this, especially as it is so cheap and easy these days. I also have a Yamaha Pocketrack, the C24 model, which is excellent...
 9. Sad news... a great songwriter and bass player. Loved the Dan and his last solo album wasn't too shabby either...
 10. Nope. There may only be 12 notes but there are an infinite number of ways to put them together.
 11.
I tend to use the 5-string equivalent of 40-100, but IMO the E and Low B strings in these sets nearly always feel to flexible and are definitely much lower tension than the other strings. My ideal set would be something like: 40, 60, 80, 105, 135. That for me would deliver a much more consistent feel between the strings.
This is almost the same as the custom set that I now use on my dingwall which I order directly from newtone, except I have .130 for the B string... works really well too imo. If only someone would make an off the peg set of dingwall compatible strings in this gauge I'd be a very happy panda indeed...
 12. Once vaguely knew a guy called Paul Meacock...
 13.
A good quality vinyl LP played on a good quality turntable through a decent amp and speakers will sound superior to a compressed digital format. You can tell the difference but the playback device makes a massive difference.
This is utterly delusional. A lot of music has to be seriously compromised in order to get it onto vinyl in the first place.
 14.
Genius! Or start on a commode and pray its a ghostie!
I had to google that... wishing I hadn't tbh!
 15.
Imagine needing a big dump 2 hours into this..
Big nappy?
 16.
Plenty of folk enjoy stomping along all night with ACDC without any silly frills or trebly clank.
Yeah, but they're dull as ditch water...
 17.
I don't think anyone is saying that he's not a good player. He just seemed to be OTT on the Glasto gig to the point where it was detrimental to the music. An example that stuck out in my head was this bit. https://youtu.be/rEzr3O8pPDM?t=248 The little slide thing that starts at 4.10. He was just continually doing things like this which didn't sound particularly great at all and took away from the groove. He's obviously a great player though.
He didn't quite pull that one off, but I'd rather see a bunch of musicians going for it and hear the odd fluff rather than hear something safe and staid. I think it's petty nitpicking and misses the bigger picture.
 18.
I always find it a little silly that people come here and slag off 'x y z' - having regard to the fact that the target of their moans has just delivered a killer set at one of the worlds better regarded gigs - tell me, how was your audition at the Frog & Armpit?
Quite, it's the usual muso whining... I've just being having a listen to their set now, and it sounds pretty damn fine to me. The groove is good, the bass player is throwing a few embellishments in here and there, but it's a live gig ffs. Get over yourselves.
 19. This music makes me want to hurt tiny animals.
 20. I like some RHCP and also some Nick Cave. Is this allowed? Under the Bridge is one of those songs which was massively overplayed at the time, which is never a good thing, and it's far from my favourite RHCP song, however I think your critique of the song is frankly pants. I've just listened to it again, and I don't hear any over-complexity, neither does the bassline dominate, it's fairly restrained as far as Flea's bass lines go. If you don't like it, fair enough, but I don't understand your reasoning at all...
