1.
I was asked to leave the band I was in during the early 90's. The keyboard player phoned me up the afternoon of a gig we had booked & told me he'd had enough of my attitude (not kissing his arse like everyone else in the band did) & that he wanted me out. OK, no problem I said, I'll do the gig tonight & that'll be it. An hour or so later I get another phone call from him to say that the gig was off because the drummer (who lived in West Sussex) couldn't get there because of snow. OK says I, I'll pick my gear up from your place at the weekend. A few days later I've got the promoter of the gig (who was a total psycho) threatening me with a hammer. The gig hadn't been cancelled at all - they did it without me & told the promoter I just hadn't bothered showing up. That was when I decided not to bother with bands anymore.
Well, at least they had the decency to tell you. But you did get threatened with a hammer, so 'swings and roundabouts' as they say... The thing is, I really enjoy playing in bands in spite of the challenges, I just find that it gets harder to find suitable/complimentary musicians as you get older, unless of course you want to go down the covers route... and frankly I'd rather stick my face in a rusty meat grinder.
2.
Why would they have? They're just people and, by and large, people are dicks.
You are right, there is absolutely no reason why musicians should have any more integrity than anyone else. I guess I just somehow expect a bit more... There are of course 3 kinds of people in the world...
3.
Ouch. That sounds painful...
Yeah, it wasn't the best experience... I don't mind being kicked out of a band (although it's never happened before in 35 odd years of playing), but I do object to being told by the band leader (via facebook) that he is packing the band up because of other projects, only to find him and the guitarist are carrying on the same project with another bass player. It wasn't just me though, they got rid of the singer/pianist at the same time in the same underhand way (even though she was bringing most of the songs) - she is only in her early 20s and she took it really badly.
4. No, but I bought myself an MXR Bass Envelope Filter for my 50th this year...
5. Positives - my Dingwall sounds totally bitchin' in a full live band scenario. Negatives - Musicians have no more integrity than anybody else, no matter how good they are or what kind of bloody music degree they have... I knew this anyway but I've had it confirmed in spades this year. Still, onward and upwards...
6. TIs... Just do it, amazing strings, expensive but worth every penny!
7. I would take some consolation in the fact that at least he was honest with you. Last band I was in, myself and the singer/pianist got binned off after 6 month of rehearsals/song development by the drummer and guitarist. Their method of doing this was for the drummer to announce out of the blue on our Facebook group that he didn't want to carry on with the band anymore as he had another project he wished to pursue. We subsequently found out that him and the guitarist were now working with a different bassist and were advertising on joinmyband, using virtually the same ad that the drummer had original placed when he started the band. I was majorly pissed off, more for their lack of honesty and integrity than anything else. But I'm sure karma will have a way of biting them back. Personally, I'd chalk it down to experience and move on. In the immortal words of Les McQueen, it's a sh*t business...

13. Hard Normal Daddy was fantastic, I like some of his other stuff too but it can be a bit hit and miss. Not seem him live sadly.
14.
Cringe worthy.
Has John just told Julie that he is unable to continue their relationship as she is now too old?
15. This has it covered I think... http://www.boredpanda.com/worst-album-covers-ever/
16. I'm sure KGB in Birkenhead would sort it out for you...
17. I find that the hot weather definitely has an adverse effect on tone. All those flabby white bodies and bad tattoos on display... most unpleasant.
18. Can't wait to hear her attempt at the accent... lordy flip!
19. Nah, still don't like his voice, too whiny and depressing. Music is pretty good though.
20. I love Prince's music.. Sad news.
21. Well at least it made me laugh as well as cringe, which is more than the original did...
22. Personally, I'd give him an ultimatum, and if he doesn't sort his sh*t out, get rid of him. Learn/write some songs that don't require fiddle if you can't find a replacement....
