Right Bob that fish is driving me bloody crazy bump. Mullet? Bream? Carp sprayed silver? The fins look sea fish, the road behind confuses me. Explain yourself my lad bump . Karl.
Hi Karl. Always stick with your first answer! Its a 7lb Mullet, and the road is the one that goes around Roscarberry Lagoon in County Cork where I caught it (on bread/float/avon rod). Believe it or not, it took 25 minutes to land, as the lagoon is ony 3 feet deep and the so-and-so kept taking all the line off the reel in great long runs! Brilliant fun! Lost another straight after, went back the next day and didnt get a sniff............... Bob -

Lakland Darryl Jones 4 string with Lakland gigbag. Excellent condition, 2008 model (made in Korea) with Lakland pickups and original gig bag. Super bass, not a mark I can see on her, hardly played by myself. This is the first of what could be a few basses for sale, as I need to start looking to the future (retirement from work) and cutting back a bit. Its the supposedly superior Korean build, with a very slim and fast neck. I would like to exchange for an Overwater 4string, newer model, any difference in value of course paid by me. Cheers, Bob *NOW TRADED THANKS*

Peavey PV 15PM Brilliant 15" class D bi-amp powered stage monitor, bought by me a few weeks ago, with the intention of putting my bass through it on stage to reduce set up time and carry. Wrong! Its an extremely powerful monitor (see spec below), with a 15" speaker, but obviously was'nt designed to use to monitor bass with. Its unbelievably good (and loud!) with vocals, keyboards, guitars etc, which it was obviously designed to cope with, but the speaker hasnt got enough travel, if thats the right word, for a bass signal. It works, but doesnt sound right with a bass alone. As I said, its only a few weeks old, and retails at over £400. Its the brand new model with a curved front (photos to follow), but as we have a full system of vocal monitors, I no longer have a use for it. Its a steal at £295, and I guess delivery would be between £15 and £20. Its obviously still fully guaranteed, and the only thing that I have done to it is fit a flightcase lifting handle on the side to compliment the 2 it already has. The Peavey pv 15pm is a two-way powered monitor system engineered with a bi-amplified class d power section that drives a 15 inch woofer and a 1.5 inch titanium diaphragm 14t compression tweeter, with a total of 200 watts (rms) power. The high speed amp topology yields the highest audio resolution and efficiency available, and combined with the woofer's neodymium speaker magnet, yields extra light weight. These Peavey speakers are proven party starters and essential gear for the stage. Peavey PV 15PM features: bi-amplified class D powered system with 200 Watts total power DDT™ compression on both power amps 15'' (381mm) heavy duty woofer with 2-3/8'' (60mm) voice coil and neodymium magnet Woofer Servo automatic equal loudness (Fletcher-Munson) compensation 14T™ 1.4'' (35mm) titanium compression driver peak SPL up to 120 dB with music combo jack with 1/4'' (6.35mm) TRS and female XLR mic- or line-level balanced input two 1/4'' (6.35mm) phone jacks for link-out/direct-in capability heavy duty carpet covering Weight: 47 lbs (21.4 kg

I had a TC 210 and a TC 212, loved the 212, hated the 210. I gig with a 1 x 15" though, so there may be a clue to why I prefer the 212 in there somewhere! I still have the 212 (but will be selling it soon to finance a new "super" cab), but thats not because I dont like it. I have a TC 112 as well, which I adore for practice/home/acoustic gig use. I found the 210 very mid prominent, probably brilliant for slappers, but I dont do that. Bob

Now I'm getting really confused!! Thanks for all the advice guys. The EAD cabs look really interesting, as long as the tone is not too "hi fi", for want of a better word. I'll have to give this a lot more thought than I thought I would have to think..................... Bob

I have been through a number of cabs in the last year, constantly looking for the Holy Grail, but the fact of the matter is, I really dont know what I'm looking for! I do have a number of criteria, and money is no real object, but apart from the cab I use for practice (a 15" EBS non-neo with no tweeter), everything else I have tried seems to have too much "mid" for my, admittedly shot-away, hearing. I play in a covers band that majors on rock and 70s music. I currently gig with a Dr Bass 1580 cab, which I am very happy with, although I have the mid and tweeter levels turned down low. Its extremely light and easy to carry to gigs, simple to use and very well built, but I cant help feeling that it wasnt a particularly expensive cab, and there must be much better cabs out there. I tend to use a Yamaha 2024x bass, or an ACG to gig with, sometimes a Status S2 or a Pedulla Thunderbolt, and love a more "vintage" tone, for a better word. My amp is a TC RH 750, and the cabs I have tried and dismissed were TC 210 and 212 combination, Genz Benz Neox 212, and a couple of others. Its pretty obvious I must prefer 15" speakers over 12", and dont get on with 10" speakers at all. I much enjoy the modern, light weight cabs as well. I was looking at an Accugroove Whappo Junior, but was put off by the fact that the mid and tweeter werent controllable, but to achieve an improvement in quality over my Dr Bass (which as I said, is very good), what on earth should I be looking at? I think all I have done is confuse myself, and maybe I should gig with my practice cab!!

I've got a Dr Bass 1580, gig with it all the time and love it to bits! Sorry, doesnt really answer your question in any way shape or form..........

Bought Steve's Duck Dunn, which arrived today. Excellent! A thoroughly pleasant transaction, as described, fast delivery and professionally packed. What more could you want? Cheers Steve! Bob

Has anyone had any leds fitted by these guys, who are based in Orpington, Kent, and if so, how good was the experience? They are a lot cheaper than SIMs, although their neck leds are only quoted as lasting 5 or 6 hours on a battery (!), but I reckon I would need to go through a lot of batteries to make up the cost.....

Its quite puzzling really why some "boutique" basses really drop in value so quickly. As well as Roscoes, Pedullas dont do well on the second hand market (when comparing their value against new cost), neither do Stingrays, Skjolds, Dingwalls, Mayones, even ACGs. Why is this? They are worth every penny of the new cost, so why the huge drop in value the minute you carry them out of the shop? Only Wals, Foderas and Fenders seem to actually hold their values in general (although I'm sure there are more). Very odd. Bob

Dont even think about it. Try one and buy one. I have 2, one for playing and one for looking at and touching, like a work of art! Silly I know, but they are both gorgeous in different ways, but sound and play very similarly. You wont regret it. Bob

Apologies if I havent read every post in the feedback section, but does anyone ever leave bad feedback (a la Ebay)? To me, that would be just as useful as good feedback in some cases, but i guess there is a protocol to take into account.

TC RH450 Rebel Head I have just bought a TC RH750 head, and I justified this to myself by saying that I would sell my 450 to part fund it, so no trades please! In excellent condition, done maybe 20 gigs. You all know the specs, and the tone shaping and facilities such as the inbuilt tuner are legendary. NOW SOLD, thanks.

Another excellent deal with Alan. Bought his TC amp, exactly as described, personal delivery, friendly as usual. I just hope, if he buys a Roscoe and GK amp after playing mine he doesnt get into trouble from her indoors!

Really weak article about BassDirect in this months issue. Only seemed to be interested in the Dingwalls, and why did they keep referring to Mark as "Stickley", which I thought was bad manners. The shadow on his photo made him look like he was starting to grow an afro as well! A few captions on the photos wouldnt go amiss, it all just looks thrown together at the last minute in some places. I know its fashion to knock the mag at the moment, and I have loyally subscribed since issue one, but there is less of interest in it every month for me nowadays, so maybe a break is in order.
