1. Lists are just something to cobble together when you have nothing better to put in the magazine. Next month they could have a list of the top 250 left handed, sunburst basses, and the month after the top 50 microphone stands. Its just a man sat at a desk trying to think of something to do, and at the end of the day its only his opinion. Mine wouldnt be remotely close to his, so look forward to a new feature, 65 top basses every month as chosen by absolute nobodies whose opinion is just as valid as the next mans. Oh, and the magazine, which I have subscribed to since the very first edition, would be quite low in my list of the top 65 magazines I read or subscribe to, and I hate saying that as I really used to enjoy it.
2. Bought an MB200 to use as a practice amp a few weeks ago (Soundslive delivered it the next day), and I have been blown away! I use it with a TC 12" cab and wouldnt hesitate to do a small gig with it. Just makes me smile every time I switch it on......
3. I bought one of the MB200 Micro amps for £200 or so a few weeks back, and have been absolutely blown away by it! I use it for practice through a TC 12" cab and I cant, for the low price of course, speak highly enough about it. Yes, it has a touch of its own "voice", and not being an upright player any more, can only really guess that this will work well, but its certainly worth an audition if you dont need a shedload of volume (its got plenty!). Only trouble is, it looks like a bit of a toy and makes me smile every time I turn it on.........

Yamaha BBs

I gig with a 2024X, and apart from one minor problem with the selector switch which keeps cutting out (its a cheap looking switch that should really have no place on a bass of this price) I have been absolutely, utterly delighted. As you can see from my sig, I have a few basses to choose from, and this is my number one go to. I had Sims leds fitted and its now pretty near my perfect instrument, very comfy to play, great sounding and looks really cool. I'll probably get a black one some time to go with it (its white) as a spare, and sell the rest!!! Bob
5. Hi. This was my bass for a while, and it was one of my favourites, having a superb tone and it was very easy to play with an incredibly low action. The leds are a great colour as well! I was under the impression that the fingerboard was macassar ebony, which has natural swirls and patterns in it, and its certainly not a flaw of any kind! The wood looks like some kind of burl, and had a wonderful smell (which I often wondered about!) Its a really nice bass, and is on my shortlist of instruments that I miss.
6. Really enjoyed the film! Thanks. Bob
7. We played a gig at the Dark Barn a few years ago, and they had a noise limiter which, from memory, was only set at 88db and completely spoiled the night for us and a large part of the audience. We kept setting it off, even though everything was set on "1", and had to ask the audience not to applaud as they kept setting it off as well! Anyway, we vowed never to play there again, but have had a booking enquiry from someone who is very keen, but upset to learn of our previous problems. They have checked with the venue and have been assured the limiter is now set at 100db, but can anyone confirm this? Has anyone played there, and if so, were there any problems? It was so bad last time that we really dont want to go there again, but on the other hand we dont want to let anyone down and its a shame to do so if things really have improved. Any help gratefully recieved! Thanks, Bob
8. Fabulous gig last night, with nearly 200 people who danced right from the beginning. We billed it as a "winter warmer" for friends, family etc, to try out a load of new songs, all of which went down really well (with no mistakes I could hear!). The guy behind the bar said our version of Soul Man, his favourite song, was spot on, which was nice. The only downer as such, was that our singer persuaded us to do a version of "Deal or no deal" in one of the breaks, which I have to say went down unbelievably well, and we funded the prize ourselves. He assured us that the odds were that we would end up paying a 50p prize or something like that, but the lady who won (who was over the moon!) got the full whack of £50, which cut the profit back a chunk. Problem is, everybody assumed it was a fix so she got the lot, but I saw all the boxes get shuffled so I know it wasnt.....
9.
Real LED's look about as cool as those huge plastic body kits certain people put on their rusty old bangers. Stick on LED's look even worse!
No one can see them except you, if they are side leds, and they are incredibly useful (especially if, like me, your eyesight isnt what it used to be) on a dark stage. All my gigging basses have them and I think I would be lost if they didnt.
10.
Dont worry mate, they really aren't as fragile as they make out
Broke mine in a couple of weeks! Tiny thin wire connects them together which seems to be made from spiders web......... Other than that, worked very well.
11. I fear that for some reason, it may be an anomaly of this forum, as I have very recently sold my $$ on ebay, and to be fair had people queing up to buy it, for a very acceptable price as well. I too have noticed the low prices here, and dont understand it at all.
12. I didnt know Wishbasses did an upmarket model................
13. Lots of them seemed to have got dressed up in their best clothes as well! Perhaps they knew the camera man was coming in?
14. And another great deal with Chris. The bass was exactly as described, and the deal was agreed, bass delivered within an hour! That's what I call a proper job............

17. Behringer 300 watt head and 2x10" cab. I bought these for use in our practice room a few years ago, and although I gig with much more esoteric equipment, I have always been very pleased with the sound and volume I got from them. They are in really good condition, hardly marked, and full of features, such as wheels and a tweeter level control on the cab, deep, bright, ultrabass and shape controls on the amp, etc. They are surprisingly well made and heavy pieces of kit, so pick up from Tewkesbury would be needed, otherwise the carriage would add another 50% to the cost of the rig! I have upgraded my practice rig, otherwise wouldnt be selling, and for a quick sale, all I want is £120 and they are yours! NOW SOLD (thanks Ivan).
18. Just bought an amp from Tom. Brilliant! Perfect condition, well packaged, good price, and even threw in a cab cover! Thanks Tom. Bob
19. Ashdown Superfly 250/250 watt amp. This amp is actually pretty much unused, having been in a cupboard since I bought it (new), and stripped off the horrible aluminium gubbins that I had heard caused them to overheat. It looks like a nice, cool little black head now, and its very light. Its in its padded bag, but I cant take any pictures yet as I took it to our practice room last week to try it out and left it there, sorry. Suffice to say that its spot on, exactly like any other Superfly, and if anyone wants to see it, I can bring it back on Thursday and take photos. I dont want to mess about, and just want a quick clean sale, so £75 and £15 postage seems about right. I know some people have a lot of love for these amps, but it was just never me.......... I will also be putting up for sale soon my last rehearsal amp, a Behringer 300w head and 2 x 10" cab, in perfect nick, for £100 the pair, in a few days if anyone is interested. Again, nothing whatsoever wrong. I have recently changed over to 15" cabs and just want a simple rapid sale. This would be collection only though from Tewkesbury. Superfly is now sold, subject to the usual, but the Behringer is still available. Cheers, Bob
20. Its what theyre all like if you take the horrible thick aluminium overheating case off!
21. Bellowhead were superb, as they always are. See them live if you can, and you wont regret it. EC's first number was probably the worst thing I have ever heard on there. Why is it that I always have turn the volume up on the telly to nearly full blast for this programme? Then when I forget to instantly turn it down at the end I am deafened by the next thing to come on. What technical reason can they have for broadcasting such a ridiculously low sound level?

A month ago, yes, but I had been looking for a Ray and bought one then, sorry. Bob
24.
I am shocked this is so light! When I had my custom Overwater built, it was one of the most stunning things I'd ever seen. That too had a top of Wenge, very much like yours, but it weighted 12.6lbs!!! It was the single heaviest bass I've ever touched and even though it was my first custom build I let it go. The sound was AMAZING, but I couldn't stand with it for any length of time. Chris claimed it was due to the amount of Wenge that had been used as it's such a heavy wood. This bass may of proved that wrong!
I had a similar experience a few years ago with a 5 string throughneck Progress with a rRio Rosewood top on a mahogany body, that was soooooo heavy! This is the opposite though, I guess because of the spanish cedar. The wenge cap doesnt seem to add much. I have a couple of wenge necks on basses and they arent heavy either. Cheers, Bob
