1. I hate to criticize them, as they have always been friendly, delivered the items I have ordered quickly and at a good price, but on the last couple of things I have ordered from their website, I didnt get any kind of acknowledgement for the order, and had to contact them a few days later to find out what was happening. The latest (an amplifier this week), I got an e mail back from them that gave the distinct impression that they had had to search for my order after hearing from me, and had only just found it! After that it was delivered in lightning fast time. Good company, but maybe the website ordering system needs checking?
2. No interest? Bob?
3. Still no takers, so it will be going under the bed until things get better.
4.
Hi there logicalmike from Cardiff here-has the sandberg got a nice low action?
Hi Mike. It is a low action, yes. I set up my own basses, and its pretty low. Cheers, Bob
5. Absolutely the last price reduction, to £425, before ebay. Plenty of interest, no takers unfortunately. Bb
6. Absolute final price reduction before it goes into storage till things improve £745
7. Next stop ebay. Bob
8. I have removed details of the Shuker from this ad, as this has been sold. Bob
9. Still looking for a sale or swap? It really is a beautiful bass, immaculate and super to play.
10.
I read that as It just gets better from heroin in Hehe I was watching footie on the tv at the weekend, and on one of Chelea's illuminated Advertizment hoardings it flashed "see the first team train......" My mate, who has no interest in football whatsoever, jumped up and shouted "Where? Where can you see that?". After he calmed down though, he told me that he had misread the message as "SEE THE FIRST STEAM TRAIN"!!!! Cheers, Bob
11. Quite a few years ago, I got dragged to a nightclub in the middle of nowhere kicking and screaming, to see The Barron Knights! I really didnt want to be there, but after a while, I realized that their drummer was a bit special, so I had a good look at him. I thought I recognized who it was, but it was only after the show when the 'Knights invited the audience backstage if they wanted a chat that I wandered up to him and confirmed it was my favourite drummer at the time, Nigel Pegrum from Steeleye Span. I asked him what he was doing playing with a comedy cabaret act, and he said "they work 52 weeks of the year, Steeleye only a month, and I have bills to pay!". Fair enough. He moved to Australia shortly after, and that was that unfortunately. On another note, has anyone seen Joe Brown play live? What a star! I saw him a few weeks ago at a packed Cheltenham Town Hall, and had a totally unexpectedly fabulous nights entertainment. Great band, great talent on a multitude of stringed instruments. Cant wait to see him again. Bob
12.
Heh! 'Tis quite true, Graham. Anything at the cheaper end of the market is offered around pupils before I trade or sell it. I actually sat down and figured out the numbers last night & I've done very well all in all... Current collection is worth around £12k (excluding the cellos and double basses!) They only cost me £9.3k. Overall on all of the deals I've done I've made something like £1990 with a loss of £1370. So I'm a used Stingray in profit at the moment, LOL! Not bad in almost four years of deals/trading.
I did a similar exercise a few months back, and found that, over the course of buying and selling about 100 basses and guitars over 10 years, within a few pounds, I had broken even! When you take into account postage costs though, I was way down on the deals............. Bob
13. Any interesting trades out there? Status headless, mint Stingray, etc? Must be 4 string, cash available. Bob
14. Absolutely final price reduction to: £795
15. Price reduction for the Sandberg to: £445.
16. Absolutely the final price reduction, before I take it to the practice room to replace the Behringer I usually use. £595.00
17. The Shuker is sold, subject to recieving payment, but the Sandberg is still available! Cheers, Bob
18.
BTW Bob, what do all the controls do on the jazz? Cheers Jules
You guys are just too kind. I'm starting to blush................... Hi Jules. There is a volume, blend, treble then the mid thingy control. To quote from their website: All Villex pickups come with a built in mid-tone circuit and an external pot which allows to gradually change the sound character from vintage to slap. It's like having several pickups instead of one! I believe the pickups are linear humbuckers, rather than single coils, but havent taken them to pieces yet to check! I do have someone who has provisionally bought the Shuker, subject to payment of course. The Sandberg is a great bass as well, but in a more "in your face" kind of way. All the best to Russ, Alan and Jules. Bob
19. SANDBERG BASIC I'm trying to have another go at reducing the number of basses I own, so as I have just agreed to buy another bass as well, I have to sell some others, including my Sandberg. The Sandberg Basic is in really good condition, and comes with a hardcase. Its finished in greenburst, and has no signs of anything other than gentle playing. It has a very "hi fi" sound for the want of another word, and has been set up with a low action, making it very easy to play. The build quality is excellent, and its loud! Price reduced finally to £425. NOW SOLD............................. Cheers, Bob [attachmen t=35833:prs_030.jpg]
20.
What colour's the PRS Mira? Birds or moons?
Sorry, the Mira sold a few days ago. Cheers, Bob
21. Thanks guys. Nice of you to say so. Cheers, Bob
22. Beautiful WILKINS Jazz bass and hard case. As new (still has the polythene on the scratchplate) hand made in the States 4 stringer Pat does the spraywork for Lakland and others, so his work is immaculate. He builds a few custom basses each year, usually in the $4-5,000 dollar bracket, but this one is slightly different, as he bought in the (superb) neck from a Japanese builder, with the intention of seeing if he could build a cheaper model. I believe it was to retail at $2,500+ The plan didnt get off the ground though, and I purchased it, new, from Bunny Bass about 2 years ago. This bass is finished in slightly sparkly white, and is fitted with Dimarzio pickups and a Demeter pre. All the fittings and workmanship are top quality, and a hard case is included. I would describe the tone as very smooth, wide ranging but not "in your face" like some modern jazzes. Quite refined and sophisticated I would say. She is wonderful to play, and whilst I have no real desire to sell, I have just bought a Shuker Jazz so she only sits in her case doing nothing. I have gigged her once at an open air event, and it was a pleasure. I guess that you might struggle to find a better looking Jazz, and to a good home, price now reuced to £745, final lowest price possible before it goes back under the bed until the economy improves. NOW SOLD................................................ Thanks for looking, Bob
