Great stuff, and nicely photographed too π I'm a brass nut fan ππΌthey seem to be unfashionable these days, and I know some players see them as an 80's fad π Maybe I'm just showing my age ππ Lovely work all round though ππΌ- 49 replies

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2020?
BassTool replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Yeh it's a beauty, and I've got a few songs that'll use it in the set π€πΌAt the start of the year when I knew I'd be retiring at some point midway through, I did plan on an old band of mine from 20 years back having one last hurrah, got the original lads to agree to reforming back in February, went out and bought a quality PA system etc...you can guess the rest @Al Krowπ© The planned holidays also evaporated..π€¬ We managed a few rehearsals in-between lockdown/tiers then our drummer suffered badly with Covid...etc βΉοΈ All on hold for the time being π Plenty on at home though to keep me potteringβΊοΈ and the prospect of being first time grandparents is coming in May '21 ππΌ π -
If you've no plans venturing up the dusty end, the overhang looks good IMO, think it'll be a struggle to access? But like others have said, shame to cover that wood π

Two great purchases off here, a full lighting rig including cases and everything else needed to make it all work bought from beautiful Biggar in Scotland courtesy of well known BCr @dmccombe7 And second, a superb Cliff Bordwell fretless bass, bought from top seller @Clarky which was a retirement present for me bought by my wife ππΌ She gave me the choice of a new watch or a bass - no brainer really π I did have a one and only time duff experience with a purchase that arrived broken and had to get one of the mods involved βΉοΈ And for Christmas, Santa brought two Kliq Aircell straps and a duel stand ππΌ Who knows when any of it will see any gig action though βΉοΈ -
That has got to be the most random thread interruption I've seen in a while on here, I actually laughed out loud π

Haway man Andy, pack in wrapping pressies and crack on with this will ya! I'm getting withdrawal symptoms here... π

Met Dave today to sell him a bass, lovely fella, great socially distanced craic, we both had our hand sanitiser at the ready! Great communication throughout and a pleasure to meet a fellow local BCr, who happens to play in a well known local band. I wish all sales went like this, local and done in two days! π

+1 for the ZS10's @ped I bought them as back up for my UE Triple-Fi 10 IEMS, and IMO they are nothing short of amazing for the price. I'd seen @EBS_freaks mentioning of the ZS10's on here and bought mine from Amazon, it included two years insurance for them too, IIRC around Β£10 which included damage - so for Β£40 odd they were well worth the money IMO.

Anything specific Tom? High mass bridge, lightweight tuners, maple neck/fingerboard, brass vol/tone knobs, Paulownia bodywood, I seem to recall the pickup was branded but can't remember what. All plays and sounds well. Anything else I've missed just shout up ππΌ great bass for a young 'un as it's so lightweight, and equally for anyone struggling with heavier bass weight in general. This has been in a case behind a settee unused for years so time to let go. I'll weigh it when I get chance π

The inspiration behind The BlazerRay, absolutely amazing what Andy did to Mick's bass, and those Simms make it extra special. Love that bass β€οΈ
