Nice one ped, and thanks for your advice when I needed it 👌🏼

Nice one Dave, bit of chorus from my Flyrig on at the end 👍🏼It's still a work in progress but yes, I thoroughly enjoyed finally getting it gigged after the work that's been done. Despite the pup positioning - and it looks at first glance it's not going to make much difference they are so close together - there is a massive difference between bridge to 'neck'. I played safe with no preamp engaged (so no frequency selected, no cut or boost) and that was basically the passive sound, with both pups selected, tone up full...😳 The neck is simply sublime (sorry think I've already overstated that 😆) but the lighter weight compared to my Thumb NT also makes a big difference gig wise, and it's simply lovely to play. I think I may have finally lost my Wal GAS at last, and gone all French....🤔 ......oh hang on, I'll just check my lottery numbers just in case 🤭😆 Yes, the work has been well worth doing, and worth waiting for - and as one of the local bassists in the audience who came up to me said - I've never even seen a Vigier on a stage up here... Well - me neither! 😎

Deeks Unionist - Africa.mp3 Early days so still got to get to grips with the myriad of tones from this bass, this was first night out on Saturday gone.. keyboard singer on lead vox for this one, guitarist high vocal, mine third part harmony, Africa by Toto... headphones recommended 👍🏼

Brilliant Norris 🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 At 63 - and I'm gonna sound very naive here - I've never come across any other band mates who play in a detuned/drop tuning Eb 🫣 Mind you, it would have been great for my vocals with some of the stuff I've attempted to sing over the last few decades 🤣

Liking the chequerboard Warwick-a-like Jim 👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼nice work on them all 👍🏼

First gig with the Vigier tomorrow night, it's taken me a while to go from my 26 fret Thumb neck to this 21 fret bass. Big difference - particularly as I'm singing too. I also renovated the case that it came in, from this.. .....to this. I've fully fitted it out and padded it both top and bottom sections (with Cloud 9 underlay!) and new fur.

Stunning work 👌🏼😲

Quick deal done with Nigel, excellent comms, prompt payment etc, and as said above, top Basschatter - deal with confidence 😎😉

I've just had it confirmed by Patrice Vigier that it's the 16th Passion ii he produced. 👍🏼

Nice one matey, the look on the folks faces getting their food in Doncaster Wetherspoons - as we both played each others bass before sealing the deal - will stay with me for some time 😂😂 It's come out well 👍🏼

I should be able to get a live gig song sorted at some point, we can record into the desk. Live vids never ever seem to give a decent FOH sound due to less than great phone mics...😕

🤣🤣🤣🤣 bit of a drive for me to pass it on Dave, so I'll attempt to do my best with it 😜 and, yes, you're right, luthier Gary hadn't actually seen one in the flesh, then again, neither had I! 😳 I've spent the afternoon playing with the options on it, and despite the close proximity of the pups to the bridge - and to each other - they make a very different and variable sound, it does have an amazing range of tone options. It is a truly unique and an amazingly well built instrument, everything I've read about them seems to be true. When I picked it up, Gary said he could get everything from a Rickenbacker through to a P bass sound out of it. Great I thought, every time I play a bass it just goes bom pa pom 😆

What a collection 😮😮😮👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 AWESOME!! 👍🏼

Gary has done an amazing job w/w, he's been a great find, and we do have some other great luthiers up here in the NE. He recently completed a guitar that had been refinished by David Wilson, another big name up here for guitar finishes 👍🏼

I'll pass your number onto my kids Brian, as it'll not be me that'll sell it 🤣

Body shot with black bridge, for 40 years old the condition is really good 👍🏼 I forgot to say I also cleaned up the pole pieces on the Benedetti pickups after fitting the bridge, nothing too harsh, q tips with a tiny dab of Solvol Autosol

I'm in the club 😎 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/509739-vigier-passion-ii-fretless-to-fretted/

Thanks RB, I would have loved the skills to do it myself, but they don't stretch that far! Apart from the tuners and bridge swap, the nut was as much as I could contribute 😆

In the Northeast, specifically Newcastle and surrounding areas, Gary at Sylva Guitars. From Custom builds to set ups, repairs etc.. https://www.sylvaguitars.co.uk/ See my fretless to fretted Vigier conversion in Build Diaries on here. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/509739-vigier-passion-ii-fretless-to-fretted/ Recommended 👍🏼

Well spotted! I asked Gary if we could do a zero fret to keep it authentic but he said it wasn't possible, just makes it a bit more unique to me I suppose 😎

Looks great with black, I'm a fan of black hardware, nice upgrade 👍🏼

Well, just to say, this was all about me getting one of my bucket list basses, the other was a Wal Pro11e or a Wal Pro 1 - without a lottery win, they won't happen 😆 So, just want to make this clear 😉 this refurb was purely for me, I have a few basses that will stay with me till my dying day, and this was always going to join them. Absolute keeper 😎 Huge thanks to Gary Bell at Sylva Guitars for transforming my bass, superb work 👌🏼 https://www.sylvaguitars.co.uk/ Lovely bloke, and another first class luthier up here in the North East 👍🏼 We rehearsed last night for first time with it, I'll need to get used to the shorter neck compared to the Thumb which is now getting too heavy for me - the Vigier is a lightweight in comparison. Band mates loved it, I love it 👌🏼

Once they were all in, time for a fret level, then crowning And then, my homemade brass nut Time for a full setup!
