What are your tone control options/ideas? 2 band eq or 3 or passive? I can recommend John East's MM 3 band preamp to compliment that pickup, I used both in my 'BlazerRay' renovation documented on here, they are a fantastic combination but would require a battery compartment and side jack socket π€ Bass looks great tho, nice work! ππΌ

Quick update π Three years to the day I completed this bass π² I'm pleased to say it'll actually be getting a chance to be played in front of an audience at some point during this coming year - Putin permitting π€¬- instead of being picked up and played in the living room ππ Since retiring two years back, I've persuaded three old bandmates to have one last hoorah, resurrecting a band the four of us were once in. We played our final gig on March 1st 2000, 22 years ago. π Looking forward to finally gigging the BlazerRay after completing it 3 years back, I'm also pleased to say its still in one piece and hasn't split.. ππΌ π

Something about these beauties that gets me every time I see one ππΌ Takes me back to the 70's when every weekend me and my mates would visit our local music store Whites. I recall one of these was the most exotic - and most expensive - basses I'd ever seen hanging on the wall in there. And I was always met with a blunt 'no' when asked if I could play one... π Obviously they knew I neither had the skill, nor the funds to be worthy πππ GLWTS ππΌ

Hers yes, deffo not mine π By the time she bought that she'd got to know John the manager as I was always dragging her in there most weekends. He actually got three in and picked the best figured wood one for me ππΌ Yup, that was a healthy discount, and he went onwards and upwards creating a huge musical business up here ππΌ He supplied us with a (then) state of the art PA, came out for several weekends to sort it, and announced he'd set up a 'website'.. None of us knew what he was on about π The rest, as they say.. π

Here's my Westone Superheadless, bought by my wife as a surprise Christmas present back in 1985. It was very well used three and sometimes four nights a week around the social club circuit both here in the Northeast and well beyond, and although the original hard case is testament to those gigs, the bass has held up well. Like putting on an old pair of trainers, as someone once said π
