  1. Mobile Android, I have installed the Adblock plus browser on my devices. Problems no longer apparent. Probably available for IOS as well.
  2. I have now installed the Adblock plus browser on all of my Android mobile devices (my laptop and desktop were already setup with this). No popups or other tracking nonsense. I will happily subscribe if this will prevent excessive trackers). How many subscribers at what price to render ezoic not worthwhile? Apparently they pay 40 - 60 USD per 1000 views.
  3. I am enlightened, just need to determine how to remove the menu entry.
  4. As an added bonus (not) note the extra takeover that has appeared in Chrome. working on a fix
  5. Poor web scripting! However by installing Adblock Plus and using the block element feature I have stopped the b*****d thing appearing.
  6. Adblocking browser shows me 222 trackers and a similar number of ads blocked on bc now.
  7. Prevarication is a generous assessment. It is design to negate any user choice.
  8. As per @binky_bass "What do our yearly subscriptions need to be in order for Basschat to not need to partner with the devil?" If subscribing can prevent this I will subscribe (as I stated in a post sometime ago). However the situation is still unknown.
  9. Just encountered the pop up and thought I would use the manage the cookies option. The options and language used is either intentionally designed to confuse, not describe or is just amateurish. Given two choices: legitimate interest or consent. Both imply consent, no choice and no description of what is being consented too. Not a happy bunny on this development.
  10. Result
  11. Probably need to file standard to fit, the bonus is they are easy to file.
  12. This thread had got me thinking about the nuances of language and what we do. For many years in my youth I played in ceilidh bands playing trad tunes - passed on by tradition, played as we interpreted them. Was / is this a covers band? or was / is it a living tradition? The same could apply to a blues band I have recently stepped into, at what point does a song become a living tradition e.g. dust my broom, nothing like the Robert Johnson original but heavily influenced by many blues players along the line. For that matter the prog jazz rock band I am in playing all originals is influenced by what has gone before (even though we try to avoid obviously doing it)- is that elements of covering? Probably time to stop overthinking it and just enjoy playing music.
  13. In 50 years of playing live, only ever been asked once. It proved somewhat difficult as it was a ceilidh band playing trad tunes. We named the English Folk Dance Society as the copyright holder. Hope they got some royalties.
  14. The complication is the glue repair that has been made before. A bit of a known unknown, the more I look at it the more certain I am that I would be micro drilling the glue line to prevent damage to the binding. Calling @Andyjr1515 or @Manton Customs for the serious advice.
  15. Apologies if this is what you already know. About 3:00 this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGuNhXlX4a4&t=646s has a an explanation of nut removal on a maple neck. Looking at yours, I would cut through (length-ways) between the nut end and the binding to stop the binding being damaged if glue has got in there. If that proves difficult you could get a small drill (Lidl micro drills this week) and carefully drill a series of small holes in the nut close to the binding (I would do these by hand rather than power tool). Get the nut out and then clean up the binding with a scalpel.
  16. Amazing retro in 'bedroom use' condition. Quite stunning, seem to remember a guitarist I worked with in the mid/late 70s had a 'padded' Kustom combo.
  17. Given the 🔥 in this discussion, I will reiterate the advice that @Pirellithecat should contact EMG and seek their advice over the specific situation. I would be interested in the result, my SG bass pickups really interact with each other, I have often thought an active op amp mixer circuit might be the way forward.
  18. I have found the same for recording my basses. Seems to need very little post processing in the music I am involved in. For small space gigs I have used bass direct into A&H ZEDFX HiZ mixer input, ditto mrs 3below's telecaster or acoustic guitars. Works well enough. If I feel really keen we use various sansamps or the great value Joyo american sound pedal.
  19. As per @TheGreek , "As a non supporting, but long standing member I really don't like the idea of BC "selling" my info without my consent." I will be also considering leaving, although not a supporting member I have purchased a vast amount of kit from supporting members (too much!). Privacy Badger currently shows 5 trackers, Ezoic as mentioned previously and Quantserve - Guardian article interesting https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2012/apr/23/quantcast-tracking-trackers-cookies-web-monitoring. AdblockPlus shows 60 items blocked on this thread page. I understand the tension between funding (running) BC and the views of the community that create the content of BC i.e. the people (us) who are BC. It would be interesting to know how many supporting members are needed to make it viable without 'selling out' our data. Yes, I should put my money into being a supporter, I just need to get round to it but will now wait to see what develops.
  20. Never seen that before, you would think they would follow two failures like with some degree of interest.
  21. Some basses do, some don't, even with the same strings. My SG bass is a real live wire to play, plenty of good resonance.
  22. Guitarist in the band I depped for on Saturday uses one of these. Very impressive sounds and at the price above total bargain.
  23. I have encountered knockoffs that would work in some sockets and not others (even though they inserted correctly). Not worth the hassle given the price difference as @Dan Dare says.
  24. Drastic mass reduction might require routing cutouts, think Ibanez jem guitar but done tastefully in keeping with your design. Keep on with it, part of the fun is getting yourself out of the blunders. You have got this far, it is all good skill building stuff. Next time you won't make the same mistakes new ones will just appear
  25. It will be interesting to see how such a highly talented bassist progresses. You Tube etc. shows that there are so many outstanding musicians / bands around that talent is not enough. Lucky breaks, knowing the right people, being in the right place at the right time all help as well.
