1. got my oak endpin fitted, I think it must be the short one in the photo above. Solid as a rock on my Kay, no more rattling noises on stage. Soundwise theres a very subtle increase in slapping sound , and theres a big bonus of less stage noise( bass drum) being picked up. Im sure if the end pin was longer there would be a more pronounced difference in sound, but then Ben would have to make me a box to stand on. A job well done, thanks Ben.
2. prestos or eurosonics have a steel core which makes them usable with mag p/ups.better optionthan all out steels.
3. Tex Speed Combo bring their own brand of Rockabilly to the Roots Room @ The Royal Oak, Ockbrook , Nottingham. This Saturday Feb 7th.
4. if its a drag control, as suggested higher up, take a look at the Radial Dragster, tiny box with a variable control.
5. Is his surname Rickenbacker?
6. My Darling Clementine are currently on tour and and are quite superb
7. or Dave Lunt in Sockport, I believe he looks after John Squires mods among others. 07966 263616
8. dont forget to look up Unknown Hinson..
9. for "at a glance" set up I dont think anything will improve on the plat pro. Since the start of this thread I dug out the Fdek and yes it does sound more natural, but the proplat is double bass in a box. Sometimes you need confidence in something when fighting the devils feedback, for me thsts the proplat. Sunday Sermon over, so is the bottle of wine!
10.
Sorted. I've got a 5m speaker cable in a box somewhere. Beer spillage would be a concern, sure ... but with hundreds of £'s worth of pedals on the pedal-board is it not a concern anyway?
its not the £ I would be worried about , rather the electricity .
11. not too keen on 240v /13amps in a puddle of beer!
12. pm doesnt seem to be working.. I'll take it please
13. pmd,
14.
Did the wheels grind to a halt? I quite fancy an Fdeck preamp for this years festival gigs - anyone this side of the pond handy with a soldering iron?
Had one a while now, does exactly what its supposed to, very uncoloured sound however I dont use it live as I like the ease of the pro plat and its graphic eq ,which is a massive help as I play upright and electric bass on gigs so the proplat takes care of the upright eq. I dont think the notch quite goes as wide ranging as the pro plat either. Its in the gig bag as a more than worthy backup !
15. also signed, never thought of plugging it here, well done!
16. maybe the saving from indonesian manufacture was used on extra materials to make the cab stronger, internal bracing etc. Or maybe they just thought more profit was a good idea..
17. there are a few places easily found on google, we did 500 with a 2 colour label and original design in plain sleeve , plus test pressing. worked out at £1.98 per record.
18. be careful of insurance as well! Last year I looked into a DB from New York and when I added insurance to the shipping that was the total apllicable to Vat. IE BASS= £2000 Insure shippment for £2000 Amount which would be chargeable to VAT =£4000(plus all the shipping / duty as stated above)
19. thanks for the replies, I dont want to buy, Im lloking to sell a set and thought availability would affect my asking price😊
20. Are these still available? I know there were issues with supply, thanks.
21. Ive just replaced an adjustable bridge with a solid one , the sdjusters were not goog when amplified, really messed the sound up. why not have a solid fitted with a higher action?
22. where did you get them from? this sounds interesting..
23. if you have some old twine from the local hardware store that will do fine. tea chest bases are great fun, I even made a left handed one for buddy of mine . he just couldnt get the hang of my right handed one..
24.
I would get the Behringer GI100 and connect it between your head and cab, enable the speaker emulation and then just let him plug into it. No need for mixing signals, or mics. That alone should sound fine!
DONT do this! the high powered signal from the amps speaker outs will wreak havoc on such a piece of kit
