1. Every time this guy pops up I wonder why he isnt famous yet.
2. Cant remember any "name" nights, but that rings a bell. Was that a Friday/Saturday? Played there a couple of times on the Tuesday night unsigned band nights.Soon after I stopped going it was the no.1 club on the planet I remember one night there was a bridge accross the canal at the back, and they had put some fairground rides on.I think that was an aniversary of the opening or something. Wish I still had my first year membership card though.£££££
3. Saw many a great band there, but it always amazed me how the place stayed open for the first 6years until the Madchester boom.It was always dead in there unless there was a gig on.
4. I beleive it is now illegal practice to stipulate age/gender limitations in employment ads.Surely they would have ran this by the solicitors before posting here.

8. The one who does keep their site up to date,no mean feat in itself,is Thomann. They are the only ones I have dealt with who are totally reliable online.

10. Tomorrow night @ TV21 in the Northern Quarter. The Tex Speed Combo,........ much better than Christmas shopping. If youre in the area come on in ,its free.!!
11. Thats how records should be,go for the overall vibe and live with any slight imperfections. No computer magic back then.Probably all done in one take without overdubs,or the ability to do them.
12. Went to see him at the Band on the Wall this week,he played a thing he called a Diddley bow,a derivative of the cigarbox guitar. It had 2 necks, one bass string and 3 guitar strings,no frets and ran in stereo so the one bass string went to an ampeg ,the 3 top strings to a ???. Check him out on you tube,I was impressed.
13. Ay up Liam, theres enough o us fura forum o us own!
14. Always loved my Mesa Scout combo, the less common 15". Just got myself the matching extension cab Now the lurv is twice as much, bloody hell its loud.
15. A single 15 pushes more air than 2x10s ,as it has more surface area,so 2x10 + 1x15 should seem louder
16. Always used 15s, I like the flub and muffle as I dont go for the hi-fi sound. One 15" pushes more air than 2x10 so more compact as well.
17. Some people dont beleive that money is tight and when it hits them in the face like this they have a hissy fit. Its a buyers market out there. Not a good time to sell, but a good time to buy.
18. How much would a Macca bass burned by Hendrix be worth then??
19. Sounds Great, Cheadle, Stockport, not far from Manchester Airport
20.
And a true one! Cut and pasted from Wiki... "'Paperback Writer' was the first time the bass sound had been heard in all its excitement," said Beatles' engineer Geoff Emerick in Mark Lewisohn's book The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions. "To get the loud bass sound, Paul played a different bass, a Rickenbacker. Then we boosted it further by using a loudspeaker as a microphone. We positioned it directly in front of the bass speaker and the moving diaphragm of the second speaker made the electric current." I had the chance to visit Abbey Road studios a few years back All that history and I was surprised how small it was!
So how exactly would that work?
21. I remember reading somewhere that one of the reasons he got that fat recorded sound was the use of a 5" speaker used as a mic.Somehow it was wired to act as a microphone and placed in front of the cab, dont know if this is possible but its a good story.
