1. Brian Eastwood lives in Hebden Bridge I think. He makes some interesting stuff. Each Sunday evening he hosts a jam night in a pub near me and always has a home made jobby with him. He often uses a guitar with strings on the front and back and flips it over for different songs.
2. I imported a double bass about 4 years ago and the import duty /vat was round about that,I cant remember exactly but I think all the details were on the Customs and Excise website.I suppose things may have changed since then
3. Import a string instument over 50 years old and VAT is about 3 or 4%.Similar with Duty.
4. WILL & TOM. GOOGLE THE MAKE.Excellent soft case, wheels to drag it,more handles than an octopus would need.Less than £200. Much better than a hard case .
5. Think so,they have a Myspace page.
6. Ebay item 180519317796. This looks good.
7. I would seriously consider second hand.E bay is always good for Boosey&Hawkes basses from 70/80s.They are consistent quality and far more robust than any £500 new bass of today.
8. I got the 15" combo, love it,but I WANTa matching extention cab. Yours is much easier on the eye than the standard livery
9. Boss LS2 . 3 inputs but only 2 with gain controls. Should be able to match the 2 to one without the gain.
10. Dont think that is too bad a neck repair-it looks clean. Looks like a tuning peg is bent, but they are small gear machines which suggests older. You can still get replacement scrolls in plastic(they always were). Slap on a new Kay emblem ..job done.
11. A frustrating gig last night. Great pub in Llangolen, fantastic ale, which I always miss out on as I have to drive. Best of all they have a house PA,way too big for the venue, only now they have the added luxury of a council funded noise meter. One of my fave gigs is now ruined.
12. SOLD TO BILLPHREETS ,PENDING PAYMENT
13. Up for sale is a "brand new" X&M crossover pedal . This is the latest addition to the SFX Sound catalogue. I ordered it on Saturday ,it arrived today! (Wednesday),and here it is up for sale. Why??? I had an idea in mind and thought that this may be the answer. However it didnt go as planned. This si no reflection on the X&M at all. This thing is a Bi-amp in a box.It will seperate your signal into hi and lo at a selected point using the rotary control. Hi and lo each have an effect loop so that different effects can be added to a part of the signal, then combined within the box and hi and lo gains matched with the 2 gain controls. It is built like a tank, unmarked and less than a day old.It must be one of the first made as they only went on sale on Friday. Price £120 posted to UK mainland.(£159 new on SFX website.) Go to SFXsound for official description. I will post pix soon. Andy
14. Definetly get a propr setter. It makes the the job a hell of a lot easier than any homemade tools.

16. Maybe I do without realising. Sitting at the dinner table recently, with my wife sat opposite me,my gaze drifted over her shoulder towards my upright bass which stands in the corner. It took a while for her to realise that the dreamy look on my face wasnt for her but for the bass. She got up and walked out of the room without a word. I think she knew she was beaten..
17.
Apparently (at least from the Turkish kids I went to school with 30 years ago) Cack means sh1t. In Middle eastern cultures, the left hand was reserved for wiping one's ar$e, and to offer the left hand to shake hands was a huge insult. Therefore, to call a left hander cack handed I would have thought fairly insulting. Sorry to seem pious, but when you have heard of the predjudice that left handers have faced - my mum (back in the 30's) was regularly beaten at school to get her to use her right hand then all of a sudden calling it sh1t handed doesn't seem so mild and meaningless after all.
I always used to say I was going for a cack when I was kid.Now I know where it comes from, thank you ! BTW I am also sh*t handed
18. Is the 51 P bass pickup a noiseless one?
19. I think of it as the " B of the Bang" thing that runners do. When in the blocks at the start of a race, they aim to go on the B of the Bang that the gun makes.
20. True, but its what I use and its never been a problem. You can switch past the ones you dont want before you even hear them
21. Boss LS2 line selector. 2 LOOPS AND A BYPASS INPUT. Loops A&B have gain controls. Select mode A/B/BYPASS. Each press of the pedal scrolls through and mutes the other 2.
22. At 48 years, 12khz in the left but only 10khz in the right ear..thats the ear thats been next to drummers for years.
23. You missed out Kevin Mooney(I think), Sadam And His Pants, was it a Gibson Grabber??
