1.
I have read that the Mk3 EVO 500s are chinese made, is this correct ?
Yes they are made in China mate. Some limited edition runs were made in the UK.

3. Also, if you email Ashdown they'll send you any details of the racking your existing amp option. I've always found their customer service outstanding.
4. Hi Greg. I've owned both and they're definitely identical. I'd reconnect an Skb case as the latches come off with then ends. I had a gator one but when you took the front and back off, the latches were still with the head and rattled. Couldn't be heard in a band situation but annoying all the same. No reflection at all on the head, they're awesome. Hope that helps.
5. I have recently bought a 3 pro and am well chuffed with it. Lovely tone, extremely flexible and very powerful. Really can't understand how people say they're underpowered. I used to own an svt 2 pro but sold it cos it gave me a hernia..... Seriously! I would describe the 3 pro as it's little brother, in a good way. Tonnes of tubey greatness that I can carry without regular physiotherapy!!

7. Hi there. I used to own a USA precision which had a piano like punchy tone. It was very heavy and I sold it after shoulder problems and bought a roadworn precision. Whilst I love the bass it has a mellower tone which, although nice, isn't as great to my ears as the old one. I'm thinking of changing the pickups and was wondering if anyone had any advice. The tone I love is Jason Newstead, queensryche on I don't believe in love etc...

9. Hi Ape. Some people say Ashdown cabs sound woolly or undefined. I've never seen that myself. I own an abm 810 and a Classic 410 and love them both. I've also used mag series 410 cabs which again were great.
10. Pm'd
11. Is that all factual or just what you assume? I myself can't imagine millionaire rock stars using crap gear because they don't have to endure the sound of it.
12.
... who have an army of people to cart the gear around, set it up, service it, have standbys in the wings etc, and theres the factor that such gear probably rarely gets actually heard by anyone - the band hear the monitors, the audience hear the PA, in most cases via DIs either direct from the instrument or from the amp.
13.
Anything by Crashdown.............
Good enough for many of the world's current biggest bands ie. Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, U2, Radiohead, Elbow, The Who......... But not you.
14. Cheers both.
15. Hi there. I recently bought the above pedal and was wondering what's the best way to use it? As a preamp in the effects loop or as a stomp box? Cheers for any help.
16. They don't offer endorsements so the artists buy their own Ashdown gear.
17. Another 'Ashdown cabs sound wooly' claim. Because of course, bands and artists like U2, Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Blockheads, Elbow, Pino, John Entwhistle, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam etc.... Would use wooly sounding equipment wouldn't they. For the record, whenever I play through my ABM amp and cab, people are totally blown away. A reputable sound engineer in Cardiff said it was the best bass tone he'd ever heard. Too many people on here jumping on the bandwagon I feel.
18.
It wasn't chalk and cheese tonal differences between ABM and MAG... they were both wooly! I felt that the ABMs tended to hold together more whereas the MAG sounded like it was running out of headroom and wasn't far off it's limit. Just talking about the 2 4x10s as it isn't fair to compare the 8x10, though to be fair the 2x10 was an early ABM combo it was probably the best matched of them all. From which you could deduce that you need to consider which amp you are using when comparing the cabs (hasten to add I did use the same amp with the ABM/MAG 4x10).
19. Hi there. For sale is this great cab. Awesome bottom end and tone and yet so small and portable. Tip top condition, speakers all perfect, only ever used with matching ABM 500 head. Bought for rehearsals but very rarely rehearse so the cab is barely used. I'm based in Barry near Cardiff.
20. Where you based mate?
21. Gotta Ashdown ABM 4x8. Awesome power and sound but very small and portable.
22.
Dave let it go mate, you'll give yourself an ulcer. We all have stuff we like (check out my post on the second page of this thread which to my mind sums it up), and start a thread about something that you're not pathologically obsessed with C
I'll let it go when everyone else does. It's a bit one sided if I have to shut up and still read of barrage of others telling me their opinions. Some of which are a load of embarrasing cobblers. Not you by the way. I can tell the guys who know their stuff apart from the little know nothings who are constantly chirping up to tell me to piss off!
23.
i think its time to let this one die now, as it should have done around page 5
SO WHY ARE YOU STILL TUNED IN BRA?
24. Watched Blur 'the singles' gig on Sky Arts last night. What was Alex James using? A Stingray into an SVT 2 Pro with 8x10 'fridge'. But hey, what does he know! He sounded awesome by the way, but the amp was probably off or just a cardboard cut out of it just for show. Like many have told me, he was probably just going straight into the mixing desk through a £100 di pedal.
25.
I do care about tone and power. That's why I won't touch a valve amp.
No, you're right mate. Ampeg SVT's are total sh*te. You've converted me and i'm going to sell mine at a car boot sale for a tenner. It propably won't sell though cos it's such a load of crap. Perhaps I'll just give it away to some 'fool' who likes having a really bad tone.
