You can get a good used valve head for that price if you look hard enough. I got my 2 Pro for around that price point and it's perfect!

Hi all, I have this bass and absolutely adore it. The play-ability is amazing, it looks cool as and the tone is to die for. My only issue is, the notes are less powerful past the 12th fret. It doesn't seem to have the same heft as my P basses up the dusty end. Is this a jazz bass thing? Any advice on how to improve or compensate for it? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Hi all, does anyone know where I can get one from please? Thanks, Dave.

Hi all, I sprayed my red bass white but have (possible stupidly) used cheap rattle cans from Wilko. It's all white now, after lots of coats of primer, gloss and lacquer, looks great but doesn't feel solid enough. Putting the pickups back in again yesterday, I lightly scraped a screwdriver on the body and it's left a big rip! So, what do I do now? Sand it back and start again or just find a decent lacquer to seal over the top of the current paint? Thanks in advance for any help, Dave.

Hi all, I have a Precision in Fiesta Red that I want to spray white. Do I just remove the electronics and spray it over the current finish? Sorry if this sounds idiotic but I've never done it before. Any tips greatly appreciated!!

Hi all, I owned two 2 pros but always found them way too heavy and impractical. I now own a 3 and 7 pro and as much as I like them, I often hear old recordings of my 2 pro and wish I had another one. I always knew it would be a compromise but am wondering how much of one. Any thoughts please? Or has anyone A/B'd both amps? Are they that much better that it's worth the almost two man lift?!! Thanks in advance, Dave.

How much better would you say the 2 is than the 3? I had a 2 and loved it, now I have a 7 and a 3. I often fantasize about getting another 2, but remember the weight and the cost of valve replacement kits!!

I had an SVT 2 Pro, and although it sounded amazing, it was just too heavy to justify. I now have a 3 and 7 pro and although they're not as good, they're more than good enough. The 2 Pro gave me a hernia whilst lifting it into my car, seriously!! I've just concluded that these amps suit touring players who have roadies. When I listen to live recording of me playing through that amp, I often wish I'd never sold it. They are that good, but the weight is honestly ridiculous, like almost a 2 man lift!!

An awesome neo Cab in excellent condition. It sounds amazing. 600 watts, 4 ohms and just 23kg. Slightly too big for my rehearsal needs so am looking to trade, part/ex for a smaller cab, like a Compact. Very lightweight for such a massive sounding full range cab. These, like all things Genz, are discontinued and very highly regarded. This is the perfect one Cab solution for any sized gig. Has never been abused and spent most of its life in my home. Comes with fitted Roqsolid cover. I'm based in Barry.

A good bass into a good amp. Nothing else needed IMO!

He’d write it for me, a potential listener, unless he was a fool. -

Well done boys. You win, I lose! But behind all your sarcasm, I do feel the lady doth protest too much. Perhaps you’re the bass players I’m referring to, with a tone nobody can hear! What do I know eh?! What I don’t like is the pathetic bully boy attitude shown by some on here. Sorry to intrude into your know it all virtual world. -

So a bass tone that you can't decipher the notes of is ok? -

Why is it then that I've seen lots of bands and can't even hear the notes that the bass player is playing cos their tone is so muddy and processed? Do they have a great tone, but just different to the one I like? -

I'm not sure I follow you here, but if you're asking if I'd like effects then the answer is no. The only one I have ever liked is the VT bass. I don't see the point in adding things that distract from the aim - of having a good, clear and powerful tone. -

Sorry, I don't live on here. Do you have anything useful to add? -
Might rattle a few cages here, but we're all adult!! I'm just wondering why I see so many people use so many effects but then describe a great, pure tone as boring? I had an SVT 2 Pro, got fed up of lugging it about and now own a 3 pro and a 7 pro. When played alone, I admit they don't set the world on fire, but in a band situation they are both perfect. They cut through the mix and sound amazing, provide an almost perfect tone that the audience will feel and hear. I often compare it to guitar players who have the insane setting on their Line 6 Spider, sounding like Slipknot in their bedroom. Take that to a live situation and it'll sound comedic! Like I say, I know people will disagree, but I've watched bands where the bass player has a modern amp, a bass with 4 pickups and a pedal board full to the brim, and I can't hear them. I know that either of my SVT Pro amps, with a P bass or Stingray will slay them in every department, but still I seem to be in the minority!! I'm saying IMO with modesty, but really believe it to be fact!! Perhaps it's me!!!!!
