2.
+1 The MB might have the warmth but no grit, and the GB IMO is very bright and almost hifi. The tube grind from the pre in the Shuttle isnt that gritty at all. Bass Terror is your friend. Loud/light/warm/gritty when you want it/not expensive considering what it does!
Shuttle vid here shows a fair bit of grit. ll relative, of course http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJYX2Fkpuzg
 3.
If anyone is interested I have put my Godin Acoustibass fretless on eBay with a £350 starting price. Could be a real bargain, especially as it is in very fine condition!
Not finding it on a search. have you got a link for that? Looks lovely
 4.
Thanks for that. Has it got a model number or name or something that might help me find one online?
I can't see the belt clip model at all on the Sadowsky site. Maybe it's been phased out.
 5.
Rocker video (in German but the sound from the amp is GREAT!) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6iqwo828es The LMTube doesnt sound like it has a tube IMO, although it does add a subtle difference to the tone. The Rocker is exactly the same as a LM3 with the 'distortion' option. The LMTube has a few other additions but if I were you, and you want grit, get the LM3 plus a brilliant pedal OR the LMRocker.
Wonder why the rocker's s dearer. Does it have two tubes or one?
 6.
I've got a Dean Edge Pro 5 string active bass and a Rockbass fretless 5 string. The Rockbass is extremely quiet compared to the Dean so I was thinking that maybe there's something I can get that will plug in to the Rockbass and mount on the strap and do a bit of amplification just to bring it up to the same sort of level as the Dean. The main aim is to make it simple just to swap from one bass to the other, mainly at practise sessions. I've got alittle JHS flyspeck headphone amplifier I was given as a present years ago that could potentially do the sort of job I want, but perhaps there's something out there that would be more appropriate or better quality? Thanks for any info you've got. John
I have a Sadowsky belt mounted preamp that is just the kind of thing you need. Could clip onto the strap just as easily. i leave it sitting on the amp, as it happens. Amazing improvement to the sound. Dunno if they still sell them though. I'd sell you mine if I could find a DI pedal version of the same thing quickly.
 7.
Mark Tube Amp gives you ZERO grit, it just changes the sound and feel of the notes a TINY bit. The other option is a Mark Bass Little Mark Rocker....that has some nice grit.
Anyone have any experience of the Markbass Rocker? What's the difference from the LM Tube (apart from £100)? Could it be as good as the Orange but a bit more flexible? /dreams/
 8.
hi david, is it gone or still available? matt
Interest here too
 9.
Thanks for the help guys Kohpyhn, I think it was compression supplied by the PA, because I plugged straight into a DI box for the gig. I will have a crack at finding him though Dan, is the head Class D? I have no idea about power, xD I'm looking into the Markbass and the EBS, have yet to find a shop with either in stock though :/
Thinking of selling my Trace SMX. PM if you're interested. Brilliant compressor.
 10.
I should add my other two abiding memories of Lambert: The summer he spent working in an amusement park as the voice of an animatronic redneck pig who told corny jokes and sang country songs. And the time he did a sh*t so long he decided to take a photo of it so he could show it to everybody. This was before the age of digital photography - he had to get it developed! Ah I really miss him.
ROTFL Priceless. You couldn't make that up.
 11.
Oh my. That's rather spiffing isn't it
+1 tastee indeed GAS is a terrible terrible thing
 12.
The cool list in the band in order of getting the girl is: Lead singer Lead guitarist/Drummer massive space The bass player Anyone else except the keyborad player huge gap Keyboard player There are exceptions to that rule.. (when the bassist is the lead singer) so they are technically the lead singer
LOL Spot on! Never been in a band yet where the keyboard player got laid
 13. You won't regret getting a Sadowsky. Pure class. I got mine off a nice chap here, and i was amazed at what it did for tone on passive basses. Hard to describe but it's not colour, it's a fullness. As if all the harmonics are there. Simple treble and bass boost, but very effective. I can't bear hearing my basses without it. Go on
 14.
Just wait til Alex launches the BareFaced Dwarf
Bare... what?
 15. Looks nice. What does that baby weigh? The website's a bit coy on that score
 16.
I was implying you were involved in the human trafficking of persons of restricted growth.
LOL
 17.
Don't know where to start with this.
Oh dear, chaos. Sorry Frank has a midget in his sig. So if he buys a super 12 (cos of reading threads like this) he'll need to get rid of the midget real cheap (to me). Or even not so cheap
 18.
I would answer this only I haven't read the thread. Frank
Keep reading these threads + Buy Super 12 = need to sell midget to fatback. QED
 19.
Yeah well you wish, but they run shifts so when 12 are manning the engine room for example, other are resting there is a workshop constantly reboring cylinders, swapping pistons, and that is also manned 24/7, other or on bridge duty, mooring stations, bunker stations, repainting decks, lashing cargo, maintaining hoistable decks and hydraulic pumps, scraping ballast tanks, need I go on?
And what about the band?
 20.
And you're back tomorrow? Are you just popping up the corner shop for a packet of fags or something?
LOL
 21. I'm in the same boat as you, totally researched out This is the thomann that would suit my need for a plywood (I'll be busking), Czech, ebony board job (slapping). Sorry i don't have the url). Thomann 1E double bass - 3/4 scale laminated bass with swelled back and ebony fingerboard, single machine heads and adjustable peg, adjustable bridge. Colour: Golden Reddish Brown. €984 inc VAT Horrid colour. I'm holding out for an older ply bass if i can find one. Good luck with your search.
 22.
A short soundclip featuring the Celinder has been added ... Slap starts with both pickups leading to the rear pickup shortly after keeping up with fingered. Enjoy!
Beautiful sound. fine playing too Both out of my league, but do have a bump for a beautiful bass.
 23.
Boxed with manual, excellent condition. Not using so much now with my new rig, and need to fund a compressor. £130 posted.
A bump for this lil beauty. I've got the version without the DI, and it transforms my passive basses. Couldn't live without it. Just thought I'd say A thought - interested in a trade for a Trace Elliott SMX Dual compressor? I'd add cash.
