Haha yes! Except this bass used to be fretted

Today, something special happened. Last week I got a call from the editor-in-chief of the Dutch bass magazine, if I wanted to check a radio knob Stingray. Well, of course I did. I think it's a modded Ampeg as well, check out the terrible neck pickup routing in the pickguard though. Very sloppy work.

Oh my that is absolutely perfect. In the meantime I'm having a fretless neck built for my Sterling Ray34. I bought it with a Status graphite neck but I wanted a slimmer neck, and a wood neck. So I contacted a befriended luthier here in the Netherlands and he's building a flame maple neck for me, with an unlined fretless ebony board. Can't wait!

How could I have missed this topic? Here's the 118 combo I bought for €50at a thrift shop here in Amsterdam. It's currently getting recapped. It's insanely heavy but I like it A LOT.

I guess you've already checked but the model number should be on the back of the headstock and on the inside of the control cavity. I think it's an SR800 without the fancy top, but it checks out otherwise. Whisky burst, gold hardware, black knobs... 99% sure of SR800. Those used to be around CAD1200 so 550 is a pretty good deal. Go for it and give it a good clean and oil the fretboard, it clearly needs it

Ah yes but that would mean bringing a laptop to a show. My plan is to put this preamp on my pedal board and run it to the FOH.

A while back I bought this Acoustic amp for a bargain: And I totally dig it, except for two things: -The weight is enormous, I think it weighs about 65 lbs -I rarely play with an amp these days, and if I do I bring my Eich rig I'm not selling it, but I am wondering if I can bring that typical Acoustic growl to the stage without having to break my back every time. I was looking at two pedals: Did anyone have the chance to compare these two, also to an original 360? The One Control is definitely a lot cheaper (about a third of the Dicosimo), easier available and smaller, while the Dicosimo has more options, has the Variamp knob and a DI out... I know that the "real" 360 sound also comes from that 18" Cerwin Vega speaker but still...

So I really really really like my Lakland JO but I like lollipop tuners as well and I would love to combine those to. Without having to buy a whole new set of tuners (and drilling new holes) does anyone know if the keys of the HB1 are replaceable with lollipop keys? So not the entire tuner but only the turning bit.

Just got word from Staytrem that their bridge doesn't fit with the Mute. Darn.

Let's do an update on this. I was still not happy with the fact the neck pickup was not working and I couldn't figure out what the issue was. So I took it to a luthier who knows a thing or two about vintage Fenders. He was very happy with it Couple of things he marked: -The neck is a very early '62 (which I already knew): slab board ánd Kluson tuners that are bigger than the VI used in later years. -Everything except for the bridge is original and functional -Only exception: the neck pickup is dead. The two other pickups read 6.3 kOhms but the neck does nothing. It has to be rewound, I'm going to send it to a specialist here in NL to have it rewound. -I've replaced the foam underneath the bridge pickup as it couldn't be risen to proper height -I've removed the foam on the mute to replace it, I don't have extra foam lying around. With the bridge pickup at the proper height it sounds even better. As soon as I get the neck pickup back it's time for proper LaBella strings and a Staytrem bridge. I think. Still hesitant about the bridge; the not too expensive Mustang bridge it has now works fine and the Staytrem has the "wrong" radius. I'm going to e-mail Staytrem to ask what's the deal with the radius and the mute.
