  1. Well, I tested it. And by god it works. And how. Perfect.
  2. I'm going to try it on my Eich 112 cabs, but forgive me for being a bit dumb but I've never dealt with tube bass amps before (in 20 years? Never? Well, not with non-original cabs): is it best to connect 1 speaker to the amp and then the other cab to the other cab, or two cabs into the amp?
  3. I'll just hope that it does its thing on my Eich cabs then
  4. Another question: I'm going to try it on my Eich 112XS cabs of course, but a friend of mine offered me a 212 cabinet made from an old Supertwin combo, the 185 powerhouse from the 70's. It has the original Utah speakers in it and I was wondering if anyone as experiences with those speakers, and if it would sound decent with the Bassman.
  5. First gotta get my cabinets at home, ánd check out if my Eich 112s are a good match with this animal.
  6. It was retolexed a long time ago. Not very tidily done, but it looks great anyway
  7. Soooo I have an Eich endorsement which is absolutely terrific but lately I've also been GASsing for a vintage Fender Bassman. Yesterday, a friend of mine sent me a link with "just buy this ok" so I offered a low but decent price for it and surprisingly, the seller agreed! So I took all 55 lbs home and I'm super happy with this amazing amp. Everything works, it sounds absolutely killer and it included the original speaker cable. I'm still trying to figure out how to open it up to check the pot codes but that shouldn't be complicated. For now: yay!
  8. Oh yes but I meant that's probably the amp Pino plays through in this video
  9. I don't know, but Blake Mills has announced they're going to release *something* every Wednesday until March 12th, so quite a chance you'll see the acoustic.
  10. I think the Deluxe is Pino's amp here (as @Steve Browning points out), the Titano (Magnatone subbrand) might also add, but I think that belongs to Blake Mills. The tweed Fender and the small Kalamazoo amps are probably guitar or sax amps.
  11. So Pino Palladino's releasing a solo album in March, and he has released the first single last week, it's called "Just Wrong", here's the studio version: But today, a live version of that composition surfaced on the YouTubes. Pino on his fretless Stingray with Blake Mills and Sem Gendel. And I can't express how much I love Pino's playing in this video. Look at those HUGE hands. Listen to how he handles harmonics. Check out the brilliant arrangement, both in composition and sounds between the musicians. What an amazing piece of art.
  12. We (my fusion band Tyranni Flock) recorded a quarantine version of a new tune, "Almanac". Used my 1966 Jazz for this. I mixed it, too
  13. It's so weird: I've set up dozens of basses over the years, I do all my own setup work on my basses but somehow I couldn't figure this out.
  14. Well, it's a bit against my own initial bass setup logic but I've tightened the truss and raised the saddles a bit and that seems to have worked. Thinking about it, it's quite reasonable: the angle of the strings compared to the bass has changed so that was the solution. Thanks
  15. Yeah normally I'm pretty proficient at setting up basses but somehow I've failed with this one so far. Let's see what happens when I adjust the neck. I really don't know that a graphite neck does when you adjust the truss rod...
  16. Thing is the buzz is only on the high positions, so neck relief isn't the issue here.
  17. Question for you all: my Sterling has a fretless graphite Status neck on it, and it has a bit of buzz on the highest positions, especially on the G-string. I know that issue from wood Fender basses with the famous "ski slope", but what could be the issue here? Would the neck possibly need a shim?
  18. I did a live stream with Dutch pianist/singer/songwriter Aafke Romeijn a few weeks ago, used my Mustang, fretless 'Ray and Moog Sub Phatty. Fun stuff. Lyrics in Dutch, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. Speaking of fun: I found out the Eurovision competitor for Iceland had a great disco-ish song. Got my trusty 1966 Jazz out for this.
  19. It's all in Dutch, but here is the complete live stream I did with Aafke Romeijn. Used my Mustang and fretless Stingray and they sound amazing, if I may say so myself.

      Nice! 👍🏼

  20. Ah just to clear everything up, from left to right: 1971 Precision, Sterling/Status fretless Stingray, Dingwall Combustion 5, 1966 Jazz.
  21. Officially, all four of these basses are white.
  22. I'd not get it because where's Kurts low end gone? 🙃
