  1. The new body for my Dingwall has been on its way from Paris BACK to Memphis (long story) for eleven days now. I'm starting to think they've lost it.

You couldn't make this stinky poo up!

  2. The story gets worse! So I checked the tracking yesterday morning and it said "in transit" from the FedEx location, which meant it wasn't going to be delivered yesterday. But in transit to where? Tracking this morning didn't say "out for delivery", but instead it said "in transit". Again. But now not in Holland, but in bloody Paris! So I called FedEx and they told me that some...person in Memphis, TN forgot to put it through customs and they only found that out at the last minute before it was supposed to be out for delivery here. So the body was at 15 minutes from my house and now it's flying back to Memphis, only to be put through customs and then going back again. Will probably take another week or so. Stupid FedEx.
  3. Little update: I am experiencing some serious bureaucratic BS here: the new body for my bass is at a FedEx location about 15 minutes from my house. It has been cleared by customs and everything and is just waiting for next Wednesday, when it's supposed to be delivered. However, I am not at home then. So I thought: let's call FedEx, see if I can pick it up myself, it's very close, saves them a detour past my house and everybody's happy, right? Well, no. I'm not allowed to pick the body up before Wednesday "because delivery or pickup before the date of delivery would make it a Priority package, and it's an Economy package and that's cheaper so you'll have to wait, so sorry". So I was like: me saving you guys money, picking up that thing myself would make the shipment móre expensive? Whut? Weird. So I postponed the delivery to Thursday. Stinks.
  4. So turned out there was some considerable finish damage at the knobs when I got this bass and although I wasn't really bothered by it I still let Dingwall know (just so they knew things happen) and they offered me a new body! It's on its way to Amsterdam now. Still have to find a luthier to set it up though.
  5. Blimey. That is pretty...uhm...brutal. Even more surprising are the comments. I can't make out if they're all super sarcastic or not.
  6. I have two. Plantation Lullabies (as was already mentioned on the previous page) but, if I have to choose, the first bass cd I ever got (present from my parents) and it's still my favourite. And if I have to pick an album not by a bass player... Hm... Want to pick something not so obvious. So here's an album on which Robbie Shakespeare is IMO at his absolute best:
  7. Congrats! The Eichs are a bit different if memory serves me well, I think the EQ was improved and the DI has a Ground lift switch. Gotta check with Thomas Eich for other changes. He might be able to make it into an Eich for you if you want
  8. Moog has now officially announced it. Can't wait to hear it, will probably never buy it.
  9. Hah, of course I can't not post mine here:
  10. Well, actually, I reviewed one for the Dutch Bassist magazine. Verrrrry decent basses!
  11. Never thought I'd get myself a Dingwall. And now I have. It's. Amazing.

Nice score, had my NG3 a few months now and it's still impressing me.

I looked at a Dingwall fretless. The concept made stuff leak out of my ears...

I swapped my ACG for a combustion 5.  Best deal I have ever done ...and there have been a few.

  12. So Dingwalls never really got to me, the few times I heard them they didn't appeal to me. Until last March, I was at the London Bass Guitar Show and so was Sheldon Dingwall. He had some basses with him (a.o. a 5-string and 6-string Combustion, a D-Bird) and I immediately fell in love with a trans white 5-string Combustion. It has been in my head for a few months and I tried to find one second hand, and even considered ordering a brand new one. And then I got a message: I could buy the bass I played in London! Good price, good bass, directly from Dingwall. So that's what I did. Instead of waiting 7 months for a new one, I had mine in 7 days. And. It's. Awesome. My girlfriend still has to get used to the view of all those Fender-ish instruments and one totally different on the wall, but even she likes it
  13. Those two De Gier Elevations look amázing. So does the rest by the way. For me: new bass, new sofa photo. Added the Dingwall today!
  14. White bass number three! So in theory, all these basses are white.
  15. No it wasn't Mine was built for me by Sander. Different pickguard, dots + binding. Nice bass though
  16. Pooheey, that is one darn pretty bass you got there. I love my Bebop but that burl is insane! It's an "original" Bebop but still, it was the first dots+binding Bebop Sander made.

I pick up this bass every once in a while and it surprises me every time how good it is. The neck, setup, sound, everything is amázing. Especially when considering I paid only €400 for it. Put about the same amount of money in the electronics (Nordstrand and Aguilar), but still. Fantastic instrument.
  18. My god, the amount of mojo on this bass is insáne.
  19. You mean the orchestral hits in the end? That's a plugin Or the melody before that? That's an EWI played through a DSI Evolver. I am Dutch
