If the trains on time we`ll be getting in about 10:30ish.
I think I might be able to make that.
Great idea Sylvia, me, Mick & Si are going to be coming along atogether, proba an early one and making our way to The Bass Gear Stand so that could be a good place, seeing as Molan will be there?
Good idea, what time?

Hah, I'll second what geoham says. I might be in the pub on Friday or Saturday night but otherwise I'd love to see some live gig.

I almost got my pedal board finished. The only thing is: I'm not sure in which order to put the pedals. I'm going to use these pedals: -Radial Bassbone -Planet Waves CT-04 -Electro Harmonix Small Stone -Electro Harmonix Memory Boy -BBE Opto Stomp (compressor) -Technophobia Bass Screamer (Tube Screamer-ish overdrive) I want to have the Radial at the beginning, because it serves as a switch between my bass and Moog synth. What would be the best order in which to put 'em?

It's based on the classic tube screamer design, but modded and tweeked to make the sound that I wanted
-
Nope, just higher pots. Don't really know why, I guess it's for foot turning reasons.
-
Update: I tested the Fulltone and was very pleasantly surprised. So I got in touch with the guy behind Technophobia effects, and he told me he could build me one for a very decent price with a few small mods I wanted. So I got that. And my word. That is a mighty cool pedal. Doesn't look like it, but trust me. It is.
I think that would be a young Frank Gambale by the look of him.
It is. What a great vid this is. Jaco is pretty clear-minded it seems, he says stuff that makes amazingly good sense and his playing is pretty fine. Yes, it's a pity that Jaco died so young and that we "only" have the Weather Report, Joni albums and solo stuff (and of course the many live and rare recordings) but on the other hand, I'm afraid that if he'd been alive for another 5 or 10 years he'd have made some pretty terrible stuff, considering his mental and physical state at the time of his death.

100% sure that it's a BB414. I've owned one, and they're really good basses, especially for the price. If you want to mod it, don't think about changing the pickups. I don't know why, but on practically all models (except for some BB and RBX basses) Yamaha uses pickups that can only be replaced by Yamaha pickups, unless you're happy with exposed cavities. That also means that Yamaha can make that stuff as expensive as they'd like. I once had a TRB5II (sold it...*sob*) that needed to have its tuners replaced. I e-mailed Yamaha about what tuners to get. They told me tuners cost €45 each. Then I found out they're quite regular Gotoh GB-7s. €45 for a set.
nice - but that is a lot of money for a P bass
Yes, that is a lot of money. But I own a Bebop, and that's actually quite brilliant. I've played a lot of Jazzes in my life (including Celinder, Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo and such) and the Bebops cost half as much and are (almost) as good as those more expensive brands. Knowing Sander (the luthier) he'll be sure to make the Soulmates as good as the Bebops. I'd choose a Soulmate over an equally expensive Fender AVRI any day. Congrats with your new bass TS!

TBH, for me it didn't really matter who'd come. It's my first LBGS, so I'm excited anyway I've booked another day in London the day before the show, so it's drooling at Denmark Street for me

Steve Lawson added to the lineup on Saturday: "Steve Lawson is the UK’s best known solo bass player and a man for who the term ‘experimental FX guru’ could well have been invented. A prolific recording artist, educator and columnist for Bass Guitar Magazine, Steve received great acclaim for his live show at last year’s LBGS with Lamb bassist Jon Thorne and we’re delighted to welcome him back. Catch his masterclass at 10:30am on Saturday 7 March 2015."

I'll give one more hint, tomorrow morning I'll check back and if no correct answer has been given I'll think of a new one The new hint: their (very awesome) bass player quit almost two years ago.
-
Cool! I'm looking forward to seeing those new Sadowsky basses. I was also pretty happy to see the Doug Wimbish announcement
-
Thanks for the replies people! I got a few helpful guys in the area with some ideas as well, and they were happy to borrow me their modded RAT, Marshall Guv'nor (also modded), Fuzzface (germanium) and Fulltone Mosfet Bass Drive. I'll be testing these. Very exciting.
^ Good to know, I'm starting to despair at the lack of info on the official website. If I buy a bass there do you think I can ask to have it shipped to me so I don't have to take it on the train with me? Anyone know if that's a possibility?
I guess if you ask really nicely and pay for shipping, I don't see why they would refuse. On the other hand, if you bring a case or gigbag along to London, why not take a bass back on the train?

The new line to guess is: "Tooth and nail will wear any man down..."

A hint: think Zep but new.
