I still miss that bass. It was so perfect...

I've been going through quite some Precisions, even had (and sold) my ultimate... The first one was this: Yamaha BB300. Pretty darn good bass. The tuners were a bit wonky but otherwise it was pretty decent. However, it got replaced by: Squier Vintage Modified Precision. I put CTS pots, a Fender Original pickup, a Gotoh 201 bridge and D'Addario flats on it and there it was: motown machine. Very, very good bass. I rarely used it though, so I sold it. And then there was the ultimate. A Squier JV Precision from '82, mint condition, all original that I got for...wait for it...€75. With an amp. And a stand. And a cable. And a strap. It was fantastic. Everything about it. Except I didn't use it. Silly me, I sold it (for a lot more than I bought it for)... A while after that, I got this because it was véry cheap. Yamaha BB400S fretless. I was great, and I loved it, but it couldn't quite match my Fender fretless. So I sold the Yammie. And then it took me a while to get another Precision. And when I got one, it was this: Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision. It wasn't really my thing. I just couldn't get the bass going in a band. SO I sold it. And now, finally, I got this: Fender Road Worn P. I love this bass. It's almost as good as the JV.

I think I'll take the control plate off before the pickguard But were there other colours Jazzes came in in those days with a tort PG?

I'm a bit afraid to take the pickguard off, because I heard some scary stories of pickguards not fitting back on the bass because of shrinking celluloid

Our basses might have been twins at first I don't think Fender made a white Jazz without matching headstock at the time.

Yes, it's a Jan 1966 Jazz. Refin and two replaced screws, otherwise original. My fav bass of all time.

Let's go into Stig-mode: "Some say he recently discovered one of his basses had a grandson..." "...and that he always has exactly one Jazz Bass too few." Blimey, that's a terrible photo. Sorry 'bout that.

In theory, these are the same colour.

That is possibly the most perfect rig I have ever seen.

I've met Ferdinand before and he's a very nice guy, and I know some people who've ordered Rikkers basses and he's very open to your opinion and taste.

Nope, haven't seen them.

I was there yesterday and had a GREAT day. Yes, there was a lot of noise but I wasn't at all bothered by it. It might be because most of it was low end, but I could actually understand the person I was talking to. I also had the feeling that, apart from the Status stand maybe, there wasn't even that much slapping going on. Best experiences: -Having a chat with Roger Sadowsky. I think he might have been the nicest guy at the show. What a great man. -Checking out the TecAmp stand. I've said my Aguilar won't leave me for the next few years, but that might be changing... -Having coffee with Paul Turner. I've had the chance of meeting him twice so far, and already he knows who I am and invited me for a cup of coffee at the Maribelle's (just opposite of the Olympia). Great guy, great bass player. What also struck me was how nice everybody was to each other. There was no feeling of rivalry, nobody was walking around with a "I can play better than you" attitude... I think that would be different at a drums or guitar show. Oh and this happened. Photo by Paul Sips (the guy with the hat). I'm on the far left.

I already had a great day today just strolling around London, visited Denmark Street and The Gallery for the first time. Met Justjn Huth, Darryl Anders and Steve Lawson at The Gallery, which was a pleasant surprise I also spoke to a bloke from Aberdeen who sold his '78 Precision to No.Tom guitars today, I wonder if he's on BC You can recognize me by my Mono bag tomorrow, I'll probably be carrying around my beloved bass all day. So if I understand correctly there's no time or exact meeting point?

Bass and clean underwear are packed, alarm set at 5 am, I'm off to London tomorrow! I've booked a day off in London to visit some of my fav spots ánd see Denmark Street for the first time I think I have some time for a cup of coffee during the day. Hit me up with a PM if anyone's interested!

Maybe a bit of a dumb question since I've already paid my plane ticket, but are you allowed to bring your own bass to the show?
