1. No, it slows down... That's the weird thing. I've found a name on the PCB: "Dagic Muzik".
2. Nope... I've just tried it out "fa real" and, when actually switched on, it doesn't sound half bad. It's the switching that's crooked. It sounds a bit like a car starting.
3. I bought a phaser pedal second hand, assuming that it was a Russian EHX Small Stone. The seller had posted a picture of one in his ad, and the title of the ad was "small tone". I thought that was a typo, because the rest of the ad was very badly written as well... I received it today, and it turned out to be anything but a Russian Small Stone. It's a brandless phaser pedal called a "Small Tone". It works, sort of... The pots are rusted, the casing isn't what it used to be, one of the pots doesn't seem to work at all, the switch is cranky, the phaser makes some weird sounds that don't belong there when I turn it on, the inside is a mess, the PCB isn't attached to the casing but loose inside... It has an EHX power supply input, that's weird as well... It looks like this: Does anyone know what it is?
4. I once owned this. It was way too good for its price. I sold it to afford my Cobelens & de Bruyne custom bass. I want one again! So my bass of the day is a Blade B1. Availability second hand: none.
5. The new demo is done!!! Check out the tracks on http://www.myspace.com/hidderoordabass They're called Open Your Mind and Everything.

7. I've just ordered a set of Nordstrand NJ4s!!
8. We, as in Nona and her band, have been playing for about a year now and there is some live stuff on YouTube that I wanted to share with you guys I do some of the writing, of course the bass part and backing vocals. In chronological order: I wonder what you think of it! Our new EP is also done!!! Check it out on http://www.myspace.com/hidderoordabass!!
9. I want to have some new pickups for my Blade B2 Tetra Jazz: It's a great bass already, but I am still a bit unsatisfied about the sound. I've replaced the preamp already (it's equipped with an Aguilar OBP-1) and now it's time for the pickups. I'm looking for the really good stuff. A vintage tone with enough punch and width, I'll do the rest with the preamp. I've thought of a couple of options: Nordstrand NJ4 + Good stories - Really expensive Fender Custom Shop 60's + They sound great in my Fender fretless Jazz and they're cheap - Don't know how they'll sound in a fretted bass Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups + Noiseless - Don't know the sound Lindy Fralin + My favourite Dutch luthier loves them, they sound great in my Celinder - Expensive Am I missing something, do you guys have other/better options?
10.
Get Chris to make you another body then. He's got loads of them.
That would cost big money...?
11. You are right about that... It looks good like this, but I think it's rather boring and I think it would look even better with a translucent colour...
12. I bought the Scarbee J Update 4 a few months ago from wombatboter, who bought it from Crazykiwi but didn't quite become good friends with it. This is also the bass that can be seen in the Basschat header! I sent Chris Celinder an e-mail with some questions about the bass, and he sent me this message back:
Hello Hidde, Thanks for your kind mail :-) Yeah it seems that that bass has become somewhat of a legend. The body on the Scarbee bass is Danish ash. Medium weight - lighter than Northern White Ash (US) and heavier but with more heft than Southern Swamp Ash (US). The neck is hard rock maple with the same hard rock maple fingerboard. Pickups are Lindy Fralin Jazz, and the Aguilar OBP-1 preamp is setup with double volume, bass (boost), treble (cut) ... or "vintage tone control" if you will. The trimmer controls the boost level of the treble in the preamp. I am not a fan of treble boost (on a bass), thus I always wired the OBP-1 this way so you can preset the amount of max treble on the trimmer and then cut it from there on the front of the bass to suit the music. The Badass bridge is from right before I designed my own bridge (with string-thru-body-option). This bass has serial # 9804130 ....meaning it was built in April 1998 and is bass number 130. May you get a lot of good music from that bass :-) Take care, bro, Chris
That cleared up a lot for me! I am now using this bass on a lot of occasions, mainly with Nona (melodic pop rock music). The only thing I'm not really sure about is the colour, I'm considering having it refinished (and I would have that done at Chris' workshop). Pics below of course
13. I dig it! What year is the Precision from? My guess is '77?
14. I made this just now. It's approx. 8 tracks of bass guitar. Everything is my Yamaha TRB5II, except for the bass part and the solo, which is my Cobelens & de Bruyne. This is the track: CLICK These are the basses:
15. As this topic has been bumped anyway, here's my evolution. I started on a Crate BX-25. Then I bought a Roland DB500: Then I got my first stack, an Ashdown ABM500 EVO II and an Ashdown ABM410T: I thought that was too heavy. I traded a bass for an Aguilar DB112 cab: Then I sold the ABM410 cab and got a second DB112. Finally I sold the ABM500 and got an Aguilar AG500SC and that is my rig today.
16. It worked and it sounds amazing Check out the sound: http://www.hidderoorda.nl/dina.mp3
