There are a few threads on here about them and a couple people owned/own them Dread Bass has one, I'm in the market for a 7 string in the near future now, (or an 8) looking to tune F# to F on an 8 string. Been oohing and eering for ages but starting to feel now is the time (though my wallet disagrees!) German company, made in the east and shipped over, rather inconsistant quality from what I here. Same factory that supplies Woodo and similar companies, If I'm correct they are no longer produced as HK now deals with a different factory

This is definitely food for thought, I usually get no "ageist" treatement (I'm 17) but my band mates (the same age) usually do, are are usually talked down to where as I tend to be communicated with on the same level. Though my friends/bandmates do have an air of naivety I'd say and don't really understand the music world beyond writing and playing it. where as I've toured Europe as a Classical musician and as a bass player and have learnt how to act and what to do pretty quick and have learnt so much from others and watching and listening and getting out there, organising things myself. I see myself as rather old fashioned (as old fashioned as a 17 year old can be!) and have tried to do things the way my heroes, mentors and friends have but in a modern setting, so working from the ground up. Or so to speak. I'm rambling how so will pipe down... That said, I feel like I fit in better with those a bit older than me. (Ahem Basschat! ) But i'd say yes, just take it on the chin really and have not much more to say than has already been said. Some people are just moody, C'est la vie!

My bass is 'Bass Of The Week' in No Treble Magazine!
AttitudeCastle replied to Dood's topic in General Discussion
No worries Dan, I was rather chuffed myself to see it there! Though only downside, forgot how much GAS that bass gives me! Especially as I'm looking to get a 7 or 8 string at the moment but as always I'm a broke student. Gorgeous bass, All the best Dood! -
So I guess my musical mind takes me places and drags my fingers along for the ride and teaches them a thing or two. I like it, it works.
This!

I always "sing" parts to my band mates, but always struggles translating it. I don't often succeed and have never been sure how to work on that, So for me musical mind first every single time!

Jon Shuker's Build Your Own Results
AttitudeCastle replied to Barefootbassplayer's topic in Gear Gallery
Is that a set of Will Powers? Or is that a model one in the neck? Looks great man! -
Sorry to go off topic a tad, but does Reaper have midi sequencing? So does it have the ability to program in notes and parts digitally? As my past experience with Cubase, and the fact I know it does have midi sequencing is leading me towards splashing out for Cubase, as I know how to use and set it up which would make it a bit easier! Thanks for the replies!
I was expecting the bass to hit him on the rebound lol
That happened to Feeders bassist, broke his nose
Because only prats smash their instruments.
+1 Imho. Only ever done it once, at a private party gig on cheapy instruments (2 guitars, bass and drums for £120, all battered and trashed anyway. The bass was in ok condition but was a poorly made eastern copy). Guitarist and I hit our instruments into one another at the end of our set on our last note. Both shattered -
i saw him use a capo on IoW footage last year or the year before. Never seen a bass player use one before. Forgive my ignorance, but why would you need to?
Some of the bass parts have pedal tones on the same fret. Empire for example goes the 5th fret to 2nd fret across the strings and the lowest note in the song is an F#. So he uses a capo so he can just use his first finger and play it as if it were to the open string. I've done it a few times
i agree i was watching some bass playing on youtube the other week i forget who it was some virtuoso of the bass and i sat there thinking why dont you just buy a guitar because in a band situation with a singer how is that kind of playing any real use alot of notes and fancy technique but no real feeling and i just came to the conclusion he was an only child who wanted attention
Well, that depends entirely. What if their band has no singer? What if what they do they find heavily emotive and expressive? Everyone is very different. You can't tell someone how much they connect and emote from something they play as much as I can tell you how much to like a film/book/song/tell you what and how you feel. Surely by default he owns a guitar, it's a bass guitar However yes, I understand your point.
I think a big part of the problem is that bass guitar just isn't a nice-sounding solo instrument. Particularly when players crank the treble so they can fanny about with harmonics. You end up hearing as much mechanical noise as you do note. Virtuoso double bass players are a different kettle of fish, although I suppose they have a repertoire provided for them, or at worst 'cello pieces they can make a decent fist of. They don't have to ruin some other instrument's music as much as bass guitarists do.
I, personally, love the sound of the bass guitar as a solo instrument in both senses, (so as a focus and simply on it's own) it's why I play the thing! I just really connect with the lower registers hence why I sing down there and play other instruments in the same range. And everyone has different tastes in tone too! I agree, I think not having anything really to play is a big part of it. It is slowly growing though. I recently was asked to debut a Sonata for Electric bass, keen to get my hands on it when it's finished!

HK/Edel bass 7 string fretless incoming!
AttitudeCastle replied to Shockwave's topic in Bass Guitars
It's most likely come tuned B E A D G C F which is the standard, though I've heard of people recieving HK 7 strings with tunes as low as C# to a E as the bottom string You're not helping my GAS -

The Warwick 360° virtual production tour is now online!
AttitudeCastle replied to Warwick_Official's topic in Bass Guitars
Sorry if I'm being thick, but how does one book a tour of the facility? I'm thinking of using my transition between finishing school and moving into Higher Education to visit as many instrument production facilities as I can for the instruments which interest me as it's something I've always wanted to see -
Time to buy European? (Well Sandberg, perhaps)
AttitudeCastle replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
Anyone seen the new "budget concious" Sandberg stuff? Looks like a fair amount of bass for the money! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0Hh90PSaf8&feature=plcp -
New Amp Day. Ashdown 550 spyder. Definately broken.
AttitudeCastle replied to deanovw's topic in Amps and Cabs
What would you describe the core sounds of the ABM and Spyder to be, and thusly the key differences? I've used an ABM once at a gear share gig, but didn't get long to play with it will have to make a road trip to try these guys out I think! It seems the Spyder has a surprisingly pleasant amount fo clarity and warmth from what I've heard -
I have clicked on add to basket
AttitudeCastle replied to waynepunkdude's topic in Other Instruments
I'm VERY tempted by one myself, or the S series ones! They all look great to me! -

I use Rotosounds exclusively, but that's my preference. You kind of need to shop around to find what you like best as it's all individual. If you liked the Elixers why not get another set?
