Anyone heard any updates on the Barefaced '69er? It's a cab I very much want to try!
Here's a none too brilliant photo of my TRB6P Mk1. Moving house seems to mean that my lighting equipment has got a little 'lost'
Gorgeous!
Actually I'm the opposite - I find it a bit prentious when people use crotchets, semibreves and quavers. At least when you talk about 8 ths ,16ths etc it means something. Crotchets etc just make you sound like you;ve studied in some classical conservatory in Vienna

Actually I'm the opposite - I find it a bit prentious when people use crotchets, semibreves and quavers. At least when you talk about 8 ths ,16ths etc it means something. Crotchets etc just make you sound like you;ve studied in some classical conservatory in Vienna
It's just the way it's done in Europe, I've always found saying things like "64th notes" and "128ths" and a personal hate of mine is "decrescendo" Though things like "8ths" don't always make sense depending on how obscure/modern the music is Plus, adding numbers to music, gets me confused like that theory lark However studing at the Vienna conservatoire would be a dream come true for me were I talented enough, so I guess it proves your point haha!
I'm not saying people who say 'bass drum' are wrong or right, I'm simply saying that the phrase 'bass drum' irritates me.. It doesn't HAVE to make sense yanno

We've had that conversation recently. That might have been Leo's intention (point taken from whoever made it so eloquently), but no it isn't, not any more. Its function in a band is nothing to to with that of a guitar, and physically you can't play it like one. It's an electric bass so get used to it!
It's a bass what? What family of instruments is it from, it's the bass of the guitar family, and thusly you can play it like a guitar as it is one, as you can play anything however you want, or at least that's whats been said for years "Its function in a band is nothing to to with that of a guitar, and physically you can't play it like one." Surely that's down to the individual, the type of music, the musicians etc etc so is hard to label? Maybe my [s]analness [/s]view stems from my musical background, I play the Bass Trombone, I sing Bass in a choir, I played Bass Clarinet, and always refer to the family of instrument, at least contextually, If I were to refer to any as just "bass" i'd probably confuse myself haha! I know that sounded really aggresive and prickish but that wasn't my intent! We all have different views and that's good or the world would be too boring! Music is a free world so I guess it's a matter of "Lets call the whole thing off" Again no intention of seeming aggresive or attacking, but my skills with words are limited
What the hell does "In the pocket" mean anyway? I know what people mean when they say it, but I don't see the relevance.
It's a reference to "The pocket" in Amercian Football which is the area the QB is meant to be in (or something along those lines)
-
"He/She plays the bass like a guitar" "Just get a guitar" Or similar phrases. It's a Bass Guitar is it not? Also, when people say "bass is about the groove" so bass solos should be "in the pocket" (not a fan of that one!) etc Most people seem to think a bass should have 6 frets and 2 strings. Some of that is hyperbolic of course
http://m.youtube.com...h?v=KHUb-V3HUzM Good sample of what Gibson came up with last year. For me, check out buckethead, he plays a custom les Paul which is a 28" scale, instead of a 25.5 or 30". Sounds immense. James Hetfield has used one too But I think, notoriously, mike mushok from staind has used many baritone guitars as well as signature models. I've owned a gretsch baritone, hefty piece of kit but tone and feel to it was awesome, like mentioned. . . Use a capo and you have a guitar or naturally play bass lines on it.
The buckethead is actually a 27" or at least the newer ones are and yes they are awesme xD Love Baritone/ long scale guitars

Ah ok, thanks guys! I was getting the impression that they are pretty transparent cool! If you have a head you really like the sound of with your bass then the Barefaced cabs seem like the ultimate cabs really, Moos3h, I'm similar, i've always liked hi-fi sounds, I'm very much for the advance of musical technology (however in cabs it's very sorely over looked which is why Barefaced and Alex get my full support!) used rigs weighing nothing, neo 212s and a micro head etc... Found the sound I really like with a 410 and an all valve head, I was shocked (as was my spine )
-
How does a Barefaced cab "sound" like does it have any notable colouration of the sound? The only reason I'm using a 410 is because the particular 410 I'm using, I really dig the sound (and it was/is well in my budget) it's quite snarly. Though the Big twin seems to do everything I could want from a cab ever! Especially as someone who changes sound, and uses a big frequency range often (for different styles, session playing etc)

Precision Pickup recommendations?
AttitudeCastle replied to sixdegrees's topic in Accessories and Misc
The Will Power Dimarzio is good too. More bottom and mids than a SD1/4 lb'er and more prominent in a live mix to my ears. A bit more punch without the harsh top end I found with the SD. If you like that sort of thing!
Not the thickest sounding pickup though and on it's own I've found it a little lacking for keeping the lows rumbling, though I guess a bassy amp can even that out. The model P pickup and Split P pickups are amazing too! Love all Dimarzios! The Bareknuckle pickups are the dogs bits too! And they do custom and altered winds for a fraction more or even the same price -
Reccomend a hardcase for 6 String bass
AttitudeCastle replied to paulwillson's topic in Accessories and Misc
its also £120 D: cheers though
Well, if you spent that much doing up the bass, I'd personally be willing to fork out to keep it safe Cases for 6 strings are hard to find and generally pretty pricey. Best of luck though! I gave up, so bought an Ibanez case for my BTB676 there is bound to be something out there though -
