1.
Thanks to all the replies I went for the MXR in the end, purely on cost. It's definitely a more extreme pedal but I'm liking it a lot so far. The deep switch is useful to give a big, fat sound. As for Hysteria, that one uses some kind of synth too so one fuzz pedal alone would never get there, but let's face it who in the audience would really notice or care if it's just fuzz? Apart from other bassists of course Didn't realize the Big Muff Pi was true bypass, and might have gone for that if I'd known. Still, I'm happy with what I've got. Who knows, I might even add another fuzz pedal to my board at some point...
The big muff gets rather synth when you saturate the fuzz
 2. The Bass Big Muff Pi is true by pass, well the newer ones are at least! The MXR will sound too off and wouldn't hit hysteria right, i've tried! Never used the EBS though (I still REALLY rate the MXR, borrowed one for almost a year, buying one asap haha)
 3. I use a rotosound .140 for my B string in standard tuning, I've been looking at a .175 so i can tune down to an F# but that would probably be a tad floppy for my likes, In america i saw a .205 string I cannot for the life of me remember the brand name or what the packet looked like!! Guy at the shop said he had only ever sold 2 packs... to the same guy Also, those conklin strings are expenisve! $34 for a low C#! (the .194) Imagine the price of a full 11 string set! (I Plan to own a 9 string before i hit 30 ) I like thick strings, been called MAD (Mad i say! Mad!) for usuing a .115 for an E
 4.
Thanks mate Grade 8! Dam thats good. How long did it take you to get to that level? I'm doing 3 peices out of the grade 4 book and scales, sight reading etc
I'd been playing (I play everyday! and i'm quite musical, i know scales and read bass clef anyway from playing classical bass trombone which really helped i feel) about a year, But as said, some of the pieces are very hard so don't let number 1/2/3/6/7/8 fool you! I CANNOT slap to save my life, and the slap/funk/jazzy pieces are hard (at least for me, a mate of mine is a funk player an finds them fine and i play the metal/rock and some country ones (they are really fun!) like i say, everyone is different!) I really enjoy sight reading, not sure why! Best of luck either way though mate! I'm sure you did great!
 5. Reviews seem to say the quality hasn't dropped at all Not played one of either though mind you,
 6. You'll be fine mate Are you doing two peices or one peice and scales? I did my grade 8 last year and a grade 5 "Band exam" in december with two friends which was a blast!
 7. Though conversely i love the Geddy Lee Jazz bass (only J bass i actually like!) and the Ibanez K5 and i'm no Rush/Geddy Lee fan or a Korn/Fieldy fan
 8. Yep, I've got a Yamaha Attitude LTD II, Its a shame most people buy them just seeing them as a "Shred bass" where as in reality you'd be better off with a Jazz bass or an Ibanez! But i love the feel and the tone! (and i don't sound exactly like Sheehan i'll have you know!) And i'd kill for a JM1/JM2 (I missed out Truckstop!) preferably a JM2, Monster tone, and both guys are killer players and two of my favourites, I guess its natural that If a certain bands players playing influences the music you play and how you play your instrument you'll probably be drawn to that sort of tone
 9.

Now edited and correct punctuation added. though haha
 10.
They come with a puncture? That's no good!
Hahaha Only issue i have with the Harris (and the Sheehan!) is the neck is massive! Based on a thick round late 60s neck, though if you like it, its amazing! I like flat necks, but for anything else these are amazing!
 11.
The only benefit of the Common Market
Comman market also keep economies and currencies more balanced though, both good and bad but i see that as a good thing! It is in place for SOME reason!
 12. My Yamaha Attitude LTD II (Limited edition 25th anniversary Sea foam green!) Too many memories, and such a special bass to me. First gig was with this one! First demo, hundreds of firsts, Also seeing Billy Sheehan playing a Seafoam Green attitude much like mine (but his is "The sister" with pickups matching the pickguard) is what made me pickup the bass! I truely love that bass!
 13.
Gotta be honest buddy, Ric or not that bass will eat both those other basses you've mentioned for breakfast.
GSRs aren't the best basses but for the Money the RBX 374 and 375 are fantastic! Great quick 24 fret neck, comfertable to play look awesome! (To me!) and importantly sound good! Though i currently play a 6 string Ibanez, i borrowed a 375 for ages and never wanted to give it back! I'll probably buy one soon enough... Just my opinion though! I've been called a mad man for not liking Jazz basses, so what do i know!? (Not much then.... thought i'd save someone from saying it! haha)
 14. All the BBs are amazing! Every single one i've played, dating from the 80s to 2011 (And i was only born in the 90s!) The 2024 is very very very good. I wouldn't say perfect because of a few things, but it is without a doubt one of the best basses i have ever played, amazing neck and equally amzing tone! My only gripe is no Maple finger board option, (though it looks great with rosewood and helps keep the sound smoother overall) and the single coil hums, which i'm fairly sure isn't the case with the 424... can't remember though! Also i prefer neck throughs but thats me! I can vouch for these basses and Yamaha!

 16. If it looks the part then thats enough too feel Lemmy/Cliff Like for me! Just be happy man! Maybe you were expecting a real rick! For 250 euro that would have been a crazy price, but for what you good it seems that was a really good deal anyway! And if you really like this bass does it matter that its not a rickenbacker? Never know, if you picked up a rickenbacker tomorrow no guarentee you'd like it!
 17.
AFAIK, the pocket is the same.
Cheers!
 18. A little off topic, but i have a 2007 VM P-bass (White with black Pick guard one) and the truss rod is broken and the neck is cracked so i'm replacing the neck! Is the neck pocket in the squires the same as the Fenders? Cheers!
 19. How many of you out there use it? And how much does GP6 run these days? I'm considering it but not sure on pricing =/
 20.
That looks a lot like the Schecter Stiletto Custom 4
OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND
 21.
Bloody hell - thought it would be steep but that's probably about a grand more than I would've guessed. The price of JapCrap these days, I dunno! So no, not for me, either. If I ever lose enough good sense to consider spending that much on a bass it'll be my own design, hand-built by the luthier of my choice. J.

It's still way cheaper than the Gerald Veasley model
I've had the fortune to play an SR5006E, It was completely amazing. I wouldn't really call it "JapCrap" (A term i'm not too fond of!), i've played customshop fenders which didn't feel as well put together or "cared for" to put it in a chick-flick kinda way haha, i mean you can tell that someone really worked to make it, where as the fenders feel a bit sterile construction wise but when you plug in THAT is a different story! (All entirely my opinion! and based on my experieces, i haven't played every fender/customshop fender or every ibanez £1K plus bass) I don't think you guys are taking into account that the prestige models all run through the custom shop (their bigger one). And the very top of the line ones like the Veasley run through their Master custom shop (the tiny one, BUT i still think that does justify a £4K price tag!) Much like the Yamaha TRB5/6II models, which run £2K-£3K depending on where you shop. Like wise "Mass produced" as in anyone can order that number from a book and it will be the same minus what colour/topwood you want from their collection, but they are absolutely fantastic. They are beautifuly made and constructed, they sound (to my ears/for me!) stunning, they look amazing and overall are just really great basses. Also, i've often thought about a custom bass... but i personally feel i will probably EITHER end up 10p% loving it and it becomes my go to for the rest of my life for everything or... i end up thinking its "alright" and sticking it on the wall with the others. I'm just pessamsitic but i find that a bit stupid in the end. That said, if you are sure of what you want/know/love GO FOR IT If you guys read all that cheers haha
 22.
Congrats, looking forward to seeing which finish you go for! As Adam says, both my Shukers are finished in the Mystic Dream flip paint. It looks fantastic in bright daylight! I did think about the Gold/Red flip too - but Jon had enough paint left over from my 7 string to do the 6 string all over as well! (I wouldn't be surprised if there's more left! WOOO!! do it!)
Woop! It really does look flippin' marvelous! Maybe i'll nick your idea of Gold/Red (Or TVRs Green/Orange one haha!) when i finally get one and i can "borrow" a few designs from your two Just kidding! Wouldn't do ANYTHING Shuker related with telling you, probably because of the excitement!
 23. Yup i know all 14 are defo basses (yes i just stole a joke from above) But yep i'm pretty sure i know all 14!
 24.
Yamaha BB415. Really liked it. Good B, good sound, cheap. Ibanez SR505. Classic in the range. Tasted a 505 but found a second hand Ibanez K5, same ergonomics. String spacing is tight. Excellent bass. Haven't tried much else. Quest ended with the K5.
Actually, being picky about it the K5 has a smaller body Haha! I say Ibanez or Yamaha! Can't go wrong with either really!
 25. That "Mystic dream" Flip paint purple/greeny one looks GREAT on Doods Doodle 7 string! Can't wait till i'm in full time employment at the end of the year and i can save enough for a shuker
