1. The man in my street knows every bassline EVER I "would" say sweet child o' mine as most people i know, know the bass line and recigocnise it in the intro, but thats not so much the case as so many useless guitards and yound/my age guitards in bands wack the bass down and the guitar volume full up! Chic-Everybody dance? Blink 182 Carousel? (all songs which make you go OH yeah i've heard this before, but usually can't name) RHCP All around the world (Seven Nation Army was played on a guitar, not a bass so shouldn't count ) Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc Kiss - Rock and roll all night Just few? Not sure how many of those have been mentioned =/
 2.
I have the 5 string version and it is awsome. Great value, great sound and I often have people commenting how much the bass punches through the mix. The only slight downside is the neck is a tad wide. My tutor has a 6 string which is just as wide as my 5 string!
Not an issue, love wide necks me! haha
 3.
Lovely. I bought a Yamaha RBX550M off eBay a couple of weeks ago. Only cost me £62. Looks like the Yammy bargains are out there
They're Bargins new! I LOVE YAMAHA BASSES Always loved every bass they have made, haha, The only non super bargin new ones are the Attitude and the TRBII ones which are approx. £2500-£3000? Thought the John Pattitucci, is £2000 Played oned at a jazz fest in New Orleans, apart from the super wide neck! with its 20mm string spacing it was fantastic! xD And the Rbx basses are awesome too, the RBX375 doesn't have a floppy B, everyone just uses wimpy strings haha!
 4. Fenders will always be, the orginal, the one which started it off I think thats why they have a certain vibe, I've never ever "hated" a fender, and i've neve "loved" one either, Though, not sure about recently? but certainly in the last 10 years (i feel wierd and old sayin that!) the american standards have been great for the money, some of the signatures i could rant about though! basically i'm indifferent to fender haha
 5. Hey All! Just a quick one, My Ibanez BTB676 JUST arrived, it is a many firsts for me! to be precise, my first: "six string i've owned, first 24 fret i've owned, first 23/24 fret bass i have ever played , first bass with coated strings i have owned, first Natural finish bass i have owned, first Neck through body i've owned, first 35" scale bass i've played, and the first Active bass i've owned" It sounds like an active, if you know what i mean? Nice thump and buckets of low end, I'll add much more when i've played it more, and i'll add pics, probably this weekend? Though up my way there is soo much snow i may have free time in the week xD AC
 6.
Doesn't Billy Sheehan have a PAF style pickup is that position? I saw him demonstrate it at one of his clinics once - produced some LLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW end!
He has A Dimarzio Model one in the neck position, which is designed as an EB0 replacement pickup REALLY sounds deeeeeeeep when you crank the volume xD
 7. I'd get to the 6/7 string (from the treble side) when re-stringing then set up camp for the night
 8.
I'm purchasing a Spector soon from a well known south coast shop and from what I can see they keep both in stock so will have to try 'em both out! Funnily enough I've been trailing YouTube for any clips and found this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MywqeLVu57E
Ah Dave Ellefson what a player xD listening to rust in peace right now actually I rather like his tone in that clip, though its hard to tell how much of the is fromn the cab =/ I would have an LH500 by now if it weren't too heavy for me (even though its tiny! by my standards!) and i have negative money haha!
 9. would say the Hartke, If its all about tone, though thats up to your ears, Peavey gear is nuke proof, and the Hartke has a valve you might not want to bother I've never found the Tour 450 amazing tonally, to my ears. Though it was good at shaping the tones my bass was putting out though it took a reasonable amount of twiddling knobs Likewise it took me probably equally as long to get the tone in my head from the Hartke but it was definately more "full on" if you know what i mean? more of the sound i wanted. The Hartke naturally has scooped mids sound, And i like the re-assurance of 18,000 knobs slides and switches, only 12 of which do anything and one of them is on Thats my 2 pennies
 10. If i had money i'd be ALL OVER this But i have no money at all! :'( Any thing you would want in a trade?
 11.
Please bear in mind you're dealing with a techno idiot here who took a while to figure out how to put digitsl photos on a post. The thought of recordings etc makes me feel a little strange...
Haha! Aw, ah well, i know the feeling, Well i'll just take your word xD
 12.
I bought a Cirrus BXP 5 as my first 5-string (£200). I tried a bunch of the more modestly prices 5's (Yamaha RBX, Peavey, Aria, and Ibanez) and for me the best two were the Peavey and Ibanez, the former just shading it. Awesome sound IMHO
Clips?
 13. Wow! Tempted by this BUT i don't have a power amp and i currently have two pre-amps, Hmmm haha! Any chance of clips with this and a bass on the infinate gain? I just bought a new bass so have no money but i'm curious and i'm rather interested in Trace gear now for some reason
 14. I love these basses and with this wood too! They certainly feel like £2200+ (not sure of a new price of the top of my head) in your hands Sound wonderful, this is top a 5 and 6 of these is on the top of my lottery win GAS list Best of luck with the sale! Shame i just bought me a new Ibanez
 15.
That is seriously expensive. Especially when, if what I`ve read is true, Duffs Fenders are "inexpensive Fenders from the 80s". So in other words, they`ve taken a 500 Dollar bass, recreated it, albeit with better parts than the original, and are now selling it for 5000 Dollars. I`m in the wrong business Seriously though, I really wanted one of the Duff basses, but couldn`t get hold of one, so bought a Fender Aerodyne Jazz (which Duff also uses). Quick swap of a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack into the bridge, instant Duff sound. Depends if your son really wants a white bass or not, but the Aerodyne is very cool looking, and both plays and sounds great.
Exept Duffs own Aerodyne Jazzbasses have a custom neck which matches his signatures, or is more P in shape, The Duff is a great great bass, i agree overpriced but i would get the Duff! I've played a Lyte against the Duff (when i was looking for a P/J) and i prefered the DM, don't know much about the Precision Lyte though, i'm sure a few people on her own one or the other or even both!
 16. I'm getting an Ibanez BTB676 for sure now But towards the end of next year(?) (HOPEFULLY as i will be able to work xD) i can get one at a 5 string or a backup (well the 5 would work as a back up!)
 17.
I don't believe there is such a thing as a perfect bass. So just look for one that makes you happy when you pick it up. For me that was a Lakland. There's probably a used Lakland skyline in the For Sale section. If you want to save some more, there's also a Sadowsky Metro 5 in the FS section.
There may not be any single "perfect bass" thats certainly true, but there is always one which just feels 'right' in your hands! For me, my 'one' With 4 strings, is the Attitude, never played a 4 string i've liekd teh feel of more, or heard one i've like the tone of more! How ever 5 and 6 strings are a different storey! haha Tried an H/J? (Bridge/neck) Might be worth a try? AC
 18.
The reason I use the B Bass for The Blues is that the East Pre can pull in a lot more in the way of low mids. The Peavey is more transparent. However I've listened to lots of clips on YouTube & none of them sound anything like me! I'm much more Old School and don't have loads of treble as I'm in the 'Can't Slap, Won't Slap' corner. The Cirrus BXP is great value for money. I don't know why people are afraid to use the EQ - you can dial it in to do pretty much everything. G.
Wow! Now i'm sure either way, i'll be getting a Peavey at least as a back up or Road bass! xD For the price i can't see why not!
 19. Thanks! Geoff! Problem is i don't have a real good idea of the tones of the bass, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi8K2ES-e40...feature=related is the best i've had too go by so i'm still undecided on if i should save an extra £350 and get the Ibanez! But i'm 99% Certain with a Peavey, if i put some straplocks on, it'll be not just bombproof! Maybe even metal gig proof! haha
 20.
Ta - it does look pretty classy for an inexpensive bass. I don't tend to use it a lot at it looks a bit posh for the rough & ready roots/americana/rock n roll band I'm in.
That the only Reason for the sale?
 21.
They have a flawless B string, but make sure your used to the 35" scale first! I had no problem with it but its definately essential for tension and clarity. I had a 4 string USA Cirrus and it played anything I wanted it to.
Cool Man! I actually really like 35" scale! Which is a double edge as i like the 34" rotosounds! Anyone know if they'll fit? Actually pretty tempted now!
 22.
This one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT has the same pickups as the cirrus and growls like a good 'un.
Wow thats gorgeous! Very tempted! Special BassChat price? haha But i'd "ideally" have a 24 fret neck through, (and 6 strings is a bonus i'm still after a 5!) Though if that doesn't shift i may be after that! Beggars can't be choosers! Though seriously that looks like its worth £500 at least!
 23. Hey Guys! Anyone got much experience with peavey basses? Any info +clips would be great, i've been on youtube for just over an hour looking at vids on these I'm interested in the Peavey Grind BXP NTB6 (GAK link, http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/peavey...ntb-6-str/66577 ) and the Peavey Cirrus BXP 5 with a bubinga top (GAK link, http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/peavey...ring-bubi/66796 ) Anyone tell me anything about them? The neck through and from what i hear/read/can tell a reaonable B string? A smooth heeless neck through is pretty important to me, and i can't tell with the BXP 5, I've not played either, I'm looking at these with interest as i'll get one of these depending how much money i have by the new year, if i have over £550 i'll spend that extra £100 i don't have and get an Ibanez BTB676 xD I'm not *totally* bothered by tone, though i play metal (think John Myung, a bit less mids, MUCH MORE GROWL! ) as the pickups can be changed so construction and playability is higher on the list, The BTB676 ticks all the boxes, and has a good growl Thanks Guys! AC!
 24.
Rockshool are a bag of crap. I would advise taking guildhall. I took grade 5 rockshool, i got a piece of paper saying i had a merit, that was it. With Guildhall i got a marking sheet which said where improvements could be made. Guildhall then is money well spent. Rockshcool in my opinion is a complete waste of it
As in Trinity Guildhall? They only do Jazz electric bass I thought? As they only allow you to do things which apply to the courses they run as a university? Just curious! Trinity are great +1 to that!
 25. John Myung Steve Harris or John Enwtistle (its unfair to ask me to choose) and Billy Sheehan as 3rd or secret number 4 I wouldn't say "influenced" I just butcher and suture bits of their playing together =S
