May be interested in the near future but i'm needing me a Head first! haha, i would go for he ABM500 but thats more then i need the discontinued ABM300 looks ideal but had trouble finding one I think i'll have to go with MAG EVO II 300, though not saying anything against it!
Fancy that! I walked into my local music and there it was! An ABM300 head! Only issue was about £600 but pricey? What were these like new a bit off topic but still, anyone know why the ABM300 was discontinued? I would really like one of these, but is the extra £300 or so that worth it?
I use Ampeg & Ashdown, both are great gear. My old Ashdown stuff is all UK made. My spare Ashdown 1510HX cab is actually up for sale if you're interested...? Click here Cheers!
Looks like quite a bit of kit!
It matters a very great deal where it is made. The only way we will stop the slide towards having a third world economy is if consumers take an interest in where stuff is made. I don't know what the OP's reasons are for asking but he hasn't suggested that anything made in Chine/Korea etc. is crap.
I was just simply curious! Quality wise its the same, just quality control is lesser, usually due to language barriers or lack of training but "made in [insert country name]" makes no difference to me its just i knew they used to be all UK, and now they do a line made in Kentucky USA, and that line still made here, but the factory location of the others aren't specified, I have actually been to a Korean Ampeg Factory/production site, i have a cousin there who moved over from Brunei, (oil types will know the place) Not trying to say i know more by this not at all but my roots and my mothers side of the family are dotted around Asia, so "Made in [---]" or things of a similar nature have never really meant anything to me as i said i was simply curious i have a tendency to like knowing -or to try knowing- everything haha
Traditionally, everything apart from ABM is made in the Far East. ABM has always been UK-made, but some might be made over there nowadays.
Thanks! thats as much as i thought...
For a thicker and fatter sound you may want to look at something like one of the Fender Classic series Precisions - They're Mexican, but lovely quality with properly finished necks & classic anodised scratch guards, etc. Failing that, for something really muddy, look for a Epiphone EB3, Hofner Contemorary Series Club Bass, or a Yamaha BB714BS. All of these are close to your price range and have a pickup nudged right against the end of the neck for true "mudbucking" properties! Rich.
Muddy? Only played the BB714BS once and it wasn't muddy, unless the high cut was on (or what ever it was) and the neck pumped P- almost flat but i found it one fat rockin' bass! Reminds me, win the lottery and buy a few :brow: But the older style P-bass will defo give you fatness your after! i don't find the EB3 or 214BS muddy, just FAT and woofy, just my experiences though, probably me too used to playing my Attitude Thinking about it

http://www.crownaudio.com/amp_htm/xls.htm or have i miss understood? oh also the QSC PLX series is out of production just so you know, well thats what i'm told!

Hey All, Massive Ashdown explosion in my head, not overly sure why really loving the sounds, never properly used one but should do next weekend or there about! Just curious what Ashdown gear is made where? Its all British owned so all good there (? as far as i'm aware?) thanks guys! =) Adam, P.S what are you all using? I liked the Ampeg beefy tone but wanted more bite and [s]Britishness[/s] clarity/sharpness in the notes than the ampeg stuff i've used [Looking for lower wattage cheaper stuff wandering what Ashdowns come from where] <--- Post in a Nutshell

Also may i vouch, really nice guy to deal with her guys so don't even consider that holding you back!
just trying to work out why they both felt the need to use twin-necked instruments
The Sheehan twin neck is pointless its tone is only slightly different to normal attitudes ( more wood + rosewood fret board) one neck is BEAD the other EADG Billy is playing the E-G neck, the Paul Gilbert twin neck has 3 strings on one neck all tunes to different octaves of E the other is normal, its not even constructed whole, its two normal RG ibanez guitars cut and stuck together And genuinely, seriously can someone explain to me why they don't like this???? I LOVE this, i genuinely adore this, Billy's tone here is great it links in with Pauls tone and together in unison they sound amazing, though one to their own right? I listened to this on repeat on the bus home today:) Actually after reading more posts why is there so much hate towards the performance, mr big and Billy sheehan? like please explain: "I often find the "You're just jealous" riposte a bit simple, but in this case it's hilarious. That performance is literally one of the shittest things I've ever seen." And whats wrong with Daddy,Brother,Lover,Little boy? it started out as joke between Geddy lee and Paul Gilbert when Mr. Big opened for Rush (yes it has no relevance and i'm pretty much saying everything i know in "defence" haha) I know i'm coming of all edgy but after seeing the show in Budokan my bass playing changed, i changed as a musician and Mr. Big has always been in my life as one of my bigger influences musically So I apologise for coming of like a pretentious twat but still? (or even being one but still)

The rock school stuff is so easy in comparison to the stuff i have to do on my Classical Trombone! X_X i'm doing GCSE/ Intermediate 2 Music its very similar, don't get caught out like on lad in my class who can't read music and knows no music theory as the final exam is mostly styles techniques and listening + your performance exams I have a Grade 5 piece question for the Rockschool stuff (doing it to get it out the way!) I can play the pieces fine but in the areas left blank or areas where it says expand what sort of things are the examiners looking for? I don't get lessons on bass i'm entirely self taught but i need to pass my grade 5 or we can't sit the INT 2 final exam "/

New Neck for Squier Vintage Modifed P-bass?
AttitudeCastle replied to AttitudeCastle's topic in Bass Guitars
pretty much any fender style neck will work, provided its normal fender width. allparts do them, i know they're higly regarded.
Thanks! ummm what is normal fender width? Lol, By width i assume you mean distance from top of neck to bottom when its in a playing position? (*yes i am terrible with words) The "Width" on this is about 2.5 inches??? -
Hey All, Looking for a replacement neck for my Squier Vintage Modified P-bass, The one i bought was faulty so was nice and cheap for a first bass, and i still like the bass and the sound and its a good feel and looks great! So i'm looking for a replacement, Erm, i don't know the dimensions hence my problem Or where to look, First time neck Shopping pretty much, The neck on it, the truss rod is twisted (not sure how else to describe it) but the neck has a mighty bow and for what i'm doing its almost not playable also its pretty beat up, Ummm all maple neck would be sweet Not sure what else i can say, as i said new to this always treated the bass as a whole till now Link: incase you want it http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0326800505 Thanks Adam, Note: Sorry for sounding like a total clueless idiot And i intend to start doing other stuff to it, like the bridge is cracked slightly so thats going to be replaced, and maybe place some dimarzio's in place of the Duncan design

Going Wireless? What do i need to know?
AttitudeCastle replied to AttitudeCastle's topic in Accessories and Misc
Stick with a UHF unit, Buy a decent one not a cheap one from Ebay? You may need to look at weather you will rack mount your unit and then look at the Antena positioning etc. I have an Audio Technica half rack unit with small removable rubber duck antenas, Realy good unit and not a bad price used? Thing is, Will you realy use one as i barely use mine these days...Lol Justin.
thanks! Yeah, thats why i think i'm putting of going wireless for a few months right now in these "inside in the corner standing next to the rig i'm borrowing" gigs i won't need it! Lol but we are in talks of supporting a band in their self set up tour on wide free stages and i want to be able to dance around our guitarist both on stage and on the fretboard -
-
Hey All, I plan to go wireless in the next year or two I know vaguely about the whole licensing thing? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=wireless <-- was a help haha so, other wise what do i need to know? i like to know whats going on before hand when it comes to kit Yes this is a "someone being 100% clueless" and i will probably be someone asking stupid questions and the like but please bare with me? Many Many Thanks in Advance Adam,

ooooh what a nice looking thing! the mods sound fab, if i had the money! I'm skint and i need a new amp, though hope you don't mind me asking what differences in sound you find between Geddy Lee stock pickups and the Dimarzio pickups? I am a huge dimarzio fan but have never used any of there J pickups though i'm told the Area J pickups are great Also did they just drop in or did you need cut some of the wood out to get them in? just curious as i played a Geddy in edinburgh and a bloke in the shop said he had one but put Area J pickups in them for the same tone but more full and with more oomph

+1 to the above! The Boss SYB-5 is the only synth pedal that gets proper keyboard/bass synth sound but he tracking isn't great if i had the dosh i'd have tried as many out as possible but since i have no money i haven't!

If the Cab is 4Ohms then it must be the Ampeg SVT410HLF your using, a cab with very nice deep lows and generally a great cab Also i have always found the "Ampeg Tone" works better with Passive basses, infact in general if its rock gritty tone i have always found Active can't quite do it, but thats just me, Maybe the lack of definition is the bass? Just a though, how much are you tuning down? I used a 410HLF with a P-bass and a Mckagen in london a few months ago and it was great! the P-bass tuned down to an A!!!! (it was a 5 string) and the sound was still great!
