1. VMJ on for sale for cheap and good as new. HERE
2. Its got 5 days left, it will go up loads more than that. Most of the bidding takes place in the last few hours. It'll go for more than £200 Im sure.
3.
The Rockbass Corvette has an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard it seems. Not that I'm saying that there's anything wrong with that choice of woods, but I don't think it could be further from the exotic wood choices found on real Warwicks.
I dont think anyone would disagree with that, but the electronics on both the rockbass and the "proper" Warwicks are one and the same.. Except it seems the preamp, which I would imagine is pretty fundemental to the sound. I emailed the guy selling this and he said he hopes to get a minimum of £350, but wants more. To me this seems a little steep, considering for not a great deal more you get a real one, although saying that, I have no idea how much or what quality the Aria is, so it could be a cracking price??
4. From my brief research, the pickups in Rockbasses are the same as used in all German Warwicks, however the preamp is different.
5. Could you put a price on this bass. It ticks most of my boxes, apart from not actually being a Warwick, but Im struggling to find a proper warwick in my budget. This could potentialy give me the sound I want, and most of the look, but I have no idea what sort of money its worth.
6. When I've sold cameras, I always blur the serial numbers on the public photos on ebay There are many scammers around, and they will use your photos and serial numbers to con others. However, I would give out a partial number to anyone who asked, and probably the full one privately through email.
7. Interesting.. Very interesting. Added to my watch list. Might be worth a punt if it stays at a reasonable price.
8. I use an Ashdown perfect 10 30w combo. Perfect for bedroom practice. Has a line in and headphone out. Nice and compact too.
9.
Yo. What's the difference between the Standard P bass and the Standard J Bass?
The p has a p pickup, the J has two J pickups. The J will have a thinner neck too.
10.
Do you think I should still go for the PJ or go for the VMJ that I prefer the sound of?
No one can answer that for you. Why cant you try any? Birmingham has several music shops. For now, personally I'd say the VMJ, but if you feel in a few months you want a different sound and you are sticking with bass, then buy a P bass too. I started with 1 bass last August, and now have 4 with maybe another on the way soon. Also bear in mind with youtube vids, often the basses arent "clean". They may be going through amps and effects which may alter the sound. This is why you should really try them out yourself.
11. As a fairly recent newcomer to bass myself, I would very much listen to the advice on here. These chaps know thier onions, and thier basses too. Forget about image, you are learning so you need a bass that is comfortable and easy to play. You say you want to sound like flea, well that aint gonna happen, because flea is a person, not a bass. He could make any bass sound like flea. Flea himself could hand you his bass, and you still wouldnt sound like him. A squier Vintage modified Jazz is an amzing bass for the money, the slim neck makes playing a breeze and it looks great. The Ibanez is also very nice, but a completely different tone to the VMJ. Again, the neck is really slim, so easy to play. Another point. If you are not sure you can or actually will want to carry on playing the bass, then you need to think about resale. A VMJ will hold is money easilly. Those package basses wont and you will loose a lot of money in a short time. I know you have a thing about 2nd hand basses, but I have bought all my basses off here, and bar one they have immaculate. You will get so much more for your money on here, and you wont get screwed over like you will on ebay. Im sure if you asked nicely, a seller would strip the bass and clean it up as new for you.
12. As a drummer primarilly, I'd definetly say the hihats drive the groove, unless the drummer is doing some ghost work oin the snare in which case it would be a mix of the two. I dont think you could get much of a groove to play along with just with a bass and snare, but just a snare and hihats would do. Also depends on the genre of music. Reggae stuff is very hi hat orientated, whereas Death metal is more bass drum orientated, so for the bass player to lock in would depend on that.
13.
PAH! Not sure they'd want me! Notice i'm 'the worst bassist in all of Gloucester!'
You sir are a liar.. I think I behold that privilage!
14. Ahh dammit I knew I was going to get that wrong. I always get those two mixed up. Both awsome bands though, and both great frontmen. I may have seen you play then a few years ago at The Bristol Hotel in Gloucester if you were playing with them then. If so, I was one of the only the long haired ones headbanging at the front!
15. Dont suppose you have any sound clips of it do you?
16. Was that a few pics of the singer from Ozzmosis in there too? Have you played with them or is it a different band? Nice bass BTW..
17. Damn you... **waves fist**
18. Is this still available??
19. The guitarist from a band who I did some touring with 2 years ago had one of the first Robot guitar pre production units to try out. Gibson gave it to him to try because they were playing 2 solid weeks of 3 hour sets. He was well impressed with it. No issues of tuning up during songs at all, just a twist of a knob and the whole guitar tunes to whatever you want.
20. I havent seen the Family guy version yet, but sadly I dont think it will ever beat the best Family guy song by far... Well everybody's heard about the bird ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word ! Everybody's heard about the bird ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word ! Don't you know about the bird? Well everybody's heard about the bird ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word ! Yeah ! Well everybody's heard, about the bird ! Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Everybody's heard, about the bird ! Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na Everybody's heard, about the bird ! Everybody's heard, about the bird ! Don't you know about the bird? Well everybody's heard, about the bird ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word ! Yeah! SURFIN' BIRD!!!!
21. Its not that, the Journey song is good. I like it very much. Its that blasted Glee version on every second of the day on the Radio. I wouldnt have bothered learning it if I didnt like the original.
22. If only I was in a Pantera tribute band.... Good luck bump..
23. I've let myself down, my family down, and most of all, you lot down.. Yes, I just learnt the bass line to "Dont stop believing".... DAMN YOU GLEE!!
24. When I was in a band as drummer, the guitarist thought he'd try his Dave Grohl imprerssion on my drums and used my 10" splash as a crash cymbal. Result: a £150 metal frisbee. Another time at one of our gigs, the support band were using my kit. (I wasnt happy about this, but was pushed into it) Come to our set, my favourite £300 crash cymbal is split right down to the bell. How he manged it, I have no idea. No apology or offer to replace it, just walked off. Bastard.
