1. This thread might be the last straw for me I can honestly say I've never known a group of amateurs in any field, steadfastly claim there is nothing to learn from the professionals. I just...I can't...I mean...what?
2.
On 70s Fenders the poly finish is a clear coat, which deteriorates to produce that typical yellowing over time. Underneath, the paint is just as white as the day it was applied. So maybe you should use nitro Oly and then apply a clear poly coat? You don't say how old your Jazz is or whether the finish has yellowed or not, but that's my understanding of it.
So it's the clear coat that yellows? Learn something new everyday! Good job you're not a professional or I wouldn't have been able to learn anything. Shhh...I'm drunk. Shhh.
3. I don't think I could learn anything from a professional musician. It reminds me of that time when a master craftsman offered to make me his apprentice and pass on 40 years worth of wisdom, secrets, and tips and tricks of the trade. I just said "Nah".
4. I got 99 problems and bitches wanting to dance is one of 'em.
5.
If you're not in a band that regularly plays them, you should be happy!
Yay! Except it means no band at all Actually I think it's all over for me. I don't want to play dad rock. And I don't to play music for that pissed up middle aged twat who manhandles all the women in a misguided attempt to get them to dance at every gig.
6. How about that portal material that let's you see into another dimension? That's a thing...right?
7. I know this thread has morphed into an All Right Now bashing exercise...which is fine by me...but let's not forget all the other dull, dim, dirgey(sp?) dad rock out there! The real crux of the matter is that I can't find a band that will let me play the right mix of J-pop/rock, Luther Vandross, current chart stuff and film soundtracks That's not too much to ask is it? Is it? IS IT?
8.
You can't write on cream & you don't put parchment on strawberrys.
I accept your challenge.
9. Mint, parchment or cream. Is there a difference between parchment and cream? Or how about a mildly erotic airbrushed painting of a scantily clad lady from the 80s? That would be classy.
10. I think you should stick with it.
11. I spent a couple of hours working on something today which turned out to be complete tripe and a waste of time. Still plenty of time left to try again
12. No...that's my musical career you're thinking of. I still have one good leg. I could always hop.
13.
You mean when you ARE wearing it, you're younger..?
Time warp. Not the song...the orthotic.
14. How about we get four grumpy, middle aged men together and form a Little Mix tribute band? I would do it in a heartbeat!
15.
Absolutely agree, even though I am a doddery old grandad. Nearly.
I'm a doddery 44 year old. Especially when I'm not wearing my orthotic
16. What irks me most about this insistence of bands covering turgid, dull, old man rock is that it means missing out on literally thousands of really great songs. I wish we had more of a tradition of "top 40" bands in this country. At any point in time there are dozens of great songs in the charts which would be awesome fun to play and would go down well pretty much anywhere. But alas we can't because some doddery old granddad always asks for Sweet Home Alabama!
17. Awesome! Too drunk to day anythj g else. Awesome!
18.
Good on ya Paul! Get stuck in.
I've lost before and I can lose again goddammit!
19. Yay! Congrats Ben! I warn you all though, I'm entering in February...and I play to lose!
20. I wanted to Steve Harris when I was 15 I too played Wishing Well when I was just starting...along with a bunch of other rock "standards"...but that was 30 years ago. I am fairly certain that there have been a couple of new songs written since then
21.
Took a major step on Monday at an open mic night in Bromley. Drummer, keyboard / vocals and me, doing originals. First time I ever played live, so I was glad we had time to rehearse on Sunday. Bashed out three numbers in what felt like 2 minutes, but was actually 18. Now we are booked in as first support back at the same venue on 13th Feb. Daunting....
Prog rock? Awesome news...you will blow them away at the next one
22.
So do I, but I still like All Right now.
I'm actually watching it on Youtube right now Every now and again I like to watch the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival version. It's hilarious and makes me feel much better about my own guitar playing Granted Paul and Andy are as cool as f***...in context
23.
I hope there's no one on here who wears a prosthetic nose....
Ooh I hope there is! If not, then we must do something to address the imbalance betwixt proboscis prosthetic persons and non proboscis prosthetic persons on the forum forthwith, must we not must?
