Steve Harris got me playing. Mark King demonstrated there was more than metal. Larry Graham showed me how it should be done. Disappointingly I sound absolutely nothing like any of them

Goddammit. Just typed an incredibly witty and erudite reply but pressed the wrong button and lost it all. The key points were: How long? Wishbass. Zero fret. Tone. Fingers. Hahaha. Wood. That is all.

Only played one once. Typical bad shop set up and dead strings so it didn't impress me. Walked out of the shop with a Yammy BB instead. Saying that, I didn't hate the Spector and I reckon with a few tweaks and some decent strings it would be fine. Especially if the price is right!

Saxon at the Birmingham Odeon was my first ever gig...I think. It could have been Gary Moore. I've dipped in and out with Crue over the years. It's been a long time since I've listened to it but I seem to remember thinking SATD was pretty good. I quite liked my cassette copy of Theatre of Pain I saw them on the Dr Feelgood tour with Tommy Lee's spinning drum kit.

Try the D and G strings in the offending saddles? Or is it possible to swap the saddles around and see what happens? I think you are stuck with a process of elimination but I am pretty sure you will find the problem will be where the string meets the saddle. I did some work on a guys Epiphone Rivoli that had some rattle and intonation issues. Turned out it was just shipped with a couple of the saddles in the wrong place.
