    Hey-ho peeps! Been a while since I checked in on here... so long actually, that ive had TWO NBD's recently and not put them on here! Disgraceful behaviour... Well, here is the first NBD. Id been after one of these for a while but getting hold of 4003S's in the UK at the moment is a bit like trying to find golddust... particularly if you want Jetglo or Fireglo. Finally came across one at a dealer's and took the plunge. Its a great bass indeed... but what really sold it to me was the fretboard on it. Dont think ive ever seen a nicer looking board on a Ric - the first photo with less flash shows how the dark grain sets it off! With no further ado... the pictures!     Still got my B-20, now just use it for odd tuning situations. Top-heavy is an understatement, remove your hand from the neck and it spins like ZZ Top in concert

    These are great and for the price it's a lovely cheap bit of extra oomph if you are currently just running one 8ohm cab!

    Incredible deal for a USA one of these. Haven't used mine in anger on stage for a good couple of years now due to the size but hands down the best sounding cab I've ever owned, so have a free bump.

    Looking at the pictures of the 4003S Rics on here has really pushed my GAS button for a Jetglo one... Seems like there aren't any firms that have any stock around though?!

    You can't go wrong with the EHX Bass Big Muff Pi. I've tried a fair few and that's the only one that seems to hold the bottom end in the tone.

    Serious GAS for a nice jetglo black Rickenbacker 4003s but there dont appear to be any in the country at the moment!

    Anyone know for sure if the 4003W S series have the VT control? Seems the differences between the standard 4003W and the S are 1) Dots not triangle inlays on the 4003W S, 2) binding on the 4003W, none on the 4003 W S and 3) mono only on the 4003 W. I cant seem to find anywhere thats got two to compare against each other tho :-/

    Im kinda GASsing for one of these at the moment. Im feeling it will be the perfect thing for me... a combo of the smooth maple ive got on my Geddy but with the clunk (and I do *love* the VT knob) of my standard 4003/4001 sound. Any one out there with some good news stories on these? Ive seen the price for the "Dot S" variant come down to about £1499 on most sites now, and I quite like the "Dot S" versions ive played in the past... tempting, for the reasons above and the cost.

    This used to be mine!!! Its a lovely machine. Thumping lows and when you put those pickups together its VERY loud... and I mean [u][b]VERY[/b][/u] loud. The case is a very snug fit but literally no other "new" case that I could find anywhere would fit it! If it helps anyone, it was purchased by me from Vintage & Rare in London some time ago before I sold it to Basscat, so in essence you've also got their seal of approval on this bass too. PS : It wasnt me who tried to put a thumb rest on it, that was there when I got it!

    mate of mine had one of these, brilliant amp. But yes, weighs the same as a small house and not easily portable!
