  1. Exactly what I'm finding. Lately I've LPFd the subs about 150Hz (it varies) and HPFd the 100w tranny amp and 10" speaker about 70Hz.
  2. What sort of music do you play? Both kinds, or something unnatural like soul, rock or reggae 😁 What amp? What's your band(s)like? Do you use PA support? Just nosy really, me. The last dozen or more gigs I've done have been on silent stages. Got a gig next week with drums, guitar and shouty man and kind of look forward to wishing my rig was louder.
  3. Mine spontaneously burst into flames (well, thick black noxious smoke) behind my amp while I played on, blissfully unaware.
  4. DT770pro here too, and seem almost an industry standard. Like the SM57 is. I'd also recommend custom iems (not all that much dearer than good cans) as much for air travel as for on silent stages.
  5. OK, it'll be hard to know if the faitals will be an improvement without seeing the numbers. One could take the faital data and predict how they might sound, how loud they'd be and how much power they could take, but not compared to Alex's informed choice of speaker: at the end of the day you'll either be chuffed to bits or listing a nearly new pair of speakers in Marketplace.
  6. Do we know what the existing speakers are? I believe Barefaced used to use Kappalite, nowadays are they OEM? I could use loudspeakerdatabase to compare.
  7. I'd be very surprised if they were an improvement. The thermal power rating probably isn't what's causing the distress. >how much is the cabinet design (capacity, porting, etc) designed for a specific driver All of it.
  8. I was going to recommend Pink Flamingoes. I'll check Eurovision, hadn't heard of that.
  9. Have you seen Spinal Tap? (Or were you channeling M. Whitehouse fir comedy value 🤣)
  10. +1 for the BEHS here 😉
  11. True, but the 8 ohm cab only needs to be 3dB more efficient than the 4 and they'll both be equally loud. And they'll have response variations that might result in better, maybe worse sound.
  12. Or if you're as lazy a sod as I am: https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/tools/parallel-resistance-calculator/
  13. He'd thoughtfully packed his magnifying glass before setting out.
  14. If you like the pre and you like the power amp, simplest thing would be a wee box offering about 12dB (opinions?) gain, flat response and maybe a 40Hz HPF. Such things must exist. I can share a design and if you like, buy the bits and stuff the boards. Usual rate, £ to food banks +cost of parts.
  15. It's a high pass filter. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/506370-fs-50b-build-diary-famed-traynor-bass-preamp-in-pedal-form-from-aion-fx/#findComment-5372370
  16. And of course their tribute band, the one with a backing track: ADAT and the anus
  17. I believe his new rig goes one beyond 11 - actually to infinity

  19. And did the mid control act as a mid control, or as a bass cut (as the schematic would predict)?
  20. I did query that. He muttered something about neck dive. I said, surely just losing the G and its associated tuner and bit of headstock would have been easier? I mean, Jaco only needed 3 strings...
  21. Any time?
  22. Dynamite with a laser beam?
  23. It's the most life-affirming thing I've seen on the www since the invention of toast.
  24. Walloons? Or are those just your Southern neighbours 🤔
  25. Chuck him off your waiting list, Ron! [...shuffles closer to front of queue...]
