    If you like the pre and you like the power amp, simplest thing would be a wee box offering about 12dB (opinions?) gain, flat response and maybe a 40Hz HPF. Such things must exist. I can share a design and if you like, buy the bits and stuff the boards. Usual rate, £ to food banks +cost of parts.

    Not really, I don't think anyone would prefer to pay £200 rather than £100 to see Oasis [insert joke here], but some people do enjoy saying, "yes, it's top of the range, cost £4000 but worth every penny" when patronising a Squier owner.

    Yes it would, and likely reduce the power handling of the remaining speaker as it'd have less acoustic suspension and be easier to drive past its maximum allowable excursion.
