1.
Im beginning to get the feeling blue aran think im a bit of a tw*t! Cancelled and reordered 3 times now, this has got to be the last time! At least you guys saved me a major FU, so again thanks!
It'll be the best £ you spent since you bought the Precision :-)
 2.
so... the kappalite 3015 Is Actually A Better Speaker than the kappa pro 15, irrespective of the fact that its also lighter?
Correct. The number in the spec sheet is 'Xmax' which is the amount of distance the cone can move before it farts out.
 3.
Thanks Doddy, that looks useful and won't break the bank while I'm pondering. Will get one ordered and try both methods on Friday. Any particular reason you don't think straight into the fx return is a good idea ? I've googled it and it seems to be an accepted way of just using the amps power module.
It's the way I get the output of my SVP into the Peavey preamp (which incorporates an active EQ) and then into the power amp, so yes.
 4.
Huh? Isn't that tautological or at the very least pleonastic?
Going to have to alter 'interests' in my profile :-)
 5.
I did exactly this and it worked for me, I love the 3015LF and it sounds great in the Ashdown MAG. It sounds even better in the Flite cab it's now in, which is a smaller box and must be the lightest 15" cab in existence, while sounding very deep, loud and smooth. So good, I got another for big gigs, but the other has the original Eminence ceramic driver, (can't remember the model) and it sounds more middy and less deep. Together, they make a great noise and they are very loud, but I mostly use just the 3015LF loaded cab and prefer it to any other cab I've had. Thing is, I play mostly reggae and don't use any upper mid or treble - it's all about deep smooth bass for me.
Likewise, I use a 3015LF in 120 litres with the port tuned to 37Hz...no boom, just deeper than Fergie's pockets. For the highs I use an active crossover at 800Hz into an 8" midrange.
 6. Just got the Exciter pedal Andy sent me the day he got the cash. Works perfectly, sounds great with EUB, well packaged... but enough of Andy, the pedal is fine :-)
 7.
When I'm doubling I run my my Upright into some form of preamp or EQ (I actually like the Aphex Bass Exciter for this)
I'm happy to hear that, cos I just got an Aphex in the post
 8. I've been gigging with EUB and fretless and the only way I've been able to get a good sound on each has been to use a separate preamp for each (SVP Pro for fretless, Peavey somethingorother for Stagg) and switch between them. Probably not what you wanted to hear, sorry! I've been using the fretless less and less in favour of the upright though, and next gig we do I probably will only take the Stagg.
 9.
You are the bass player. Unless you sh*t yourself and then caught fire nobody will notice.
Go on then, prove it! :-) :-)
 10. I'd like to try the Honeys if you think I'd enjoy them on my Stagg (ok I know you didn't like your Stagg much but I'm still loving mine and suspect the strings are its weak point...). Could send you a stamped jiffy bag if it'll ease the pain of getting them to me? unless of course you're moving to Cambridge, its about time ;-) congratulations on the imminent Beedlet :-)
 11. I don't see how it can - the vibrating part of the string is still the same mass and length so for the tension to be different the pitch would have to be different. then again, I've often been told the laws of physics don't apply to music, so ymmv, wtf etc ;-)
 12.
A while ago I saw a band, which was two vintage gentlemen and a 17 year old drummer. The bass player made several jokes between songs about having groomed the drummer on the Internet. I recommend not copying that.
I played in a band with a very young-looking 21 year old who wore round glasses. Me and the singer were in our 50s and pretty rough looking...we got a review saying it looked like the Stooges had kidnapped Harry Potter.
 13.
My parents have these Hi-fi speakers that are sealed and have a vacuum inside, at some point they will pop and stop working but it's an interesting speaker design idea.
uh? Surely if there's a vacuum inside it'll just suck the cones up against the magnets and they can only move forwards? What's the problem it's trying to solve?
 14. And that double bass that Thomann promised, imagine my disappointment when I opened the box.
 15. Sure, I'll help if Ki0gon can't (he will though).
 16. I can do it if you can find a schematic. If you can do that and get it to Cambridge I can wire it all in, if you like.
 17. Before I got my Precision I used to borrow my girlfriend's Tobias. I got a lot of pleasure from her Growler.
 18.
You have written confirmation of the gig! If your quote in the earlier post is from a Facebook message or email, he has written to confirm that you were booked and he is cancelling on you.
Well spotted. You got him bang to rights :-)
 19.
That depends. My Grandad emigrated from Norway & became an immigrant in England & then emegrated to Scotland (He joined the police in Yorkshire & got stationed in Glasgow). Edited to add a country!
hah, I initially read that as 'He joined the police in Yorkshire & got stoned in Glasgow'
 20.
[pedant]Actually it's another term for emigrant.[/pedant]
[uberpedant] Actually an expat is an immigrant into his new country and an emigrant from his fatherland; Jack and xgsjx are both correct [/uberpedant]
 21.
I never understood what the term "Ex-Pat" meant until recently. Turns out to be another term for Immigrant. I asked one of my friends who says he's an ex-pat (he's in China) & he said it means "Ex Patriot", So I guess that means "Someone who no longer feels a strong support for his or her country"?
No, it's Latin 'ex patria', just means 'out of your country'. I guess literally 'your fatherland' edited for further pedantry
 22.
Clearly, the smaller you go per room, the more rooms you can squeeze in, but what is the optimum for a 4 piece band for example : 5m x 5m? Larger?
A different shape. Square rooms are harder to make sound good (cubes are even worse). Also: what 5imon just said. A lot of people 'treat' rooms by damping all the highs and ignoring the low frequencies. This makes them sound worse than as if nothing's been done. Bass traps make a huge, complete, immense, enormous, wonderful difference.
 23. They do a set of three for two guitars and a bassist. Guaranteed to open on cue.
 24. To turn it round, here's what I hate about the place we rehearse: Boomy acoustics Clutter; heaps of random junk and debris everywhere Guaranteed bangers and mash in the bog Dingy, fluorescent light Scuzzy carpet partly covering rough concrete floor Cold in the winter Bass rig so sh*tty I have to bring my own What I like about it: Adequate vocal PA Easy parking Cheaper than the posh one down the road
