1. Looks ok...oh sh*t, hang on..."it has just been in the loft for a few years"
 2. One of us should buy it then immediately sell it on, and so on...
 3. Lumps! er, sorry, I mean Bump
 4.
No need for measurements. The optimal distance for the pickups to the string is as close as possible without the string hitting the pickup while playing or the magnetic field adversely affecting the sustain or creating atonal overtones.
What he said. This depends on the strength of the magnets; for example the installation instructions for the emg-p state that it has an unusually weak magnetic field and should be raised higher than a passive pickup. Always take care with an active bass by the way. Several people die every year from being electrocuted posing in front of the mirror in damp bathrooms.
 5.
Anyway, getting back on topic. If you didn't raise at least one of the pickups there would be "nowhere to stick ya thumb"
I'm surprised it's taken this long for this very important point to be made! Death by duracell indeed. It's health and safety gone mad ;-)
 6. This is a really good time to be looking to buy a bass. There are several Ps here at silly prices. I dropped out of college due to having chosen the wrong course too...welcome!
 7.
I have a wife and she has hair
What more could the heart of Man desire :-)
 8. Bought a bass body from the man. It arrived, in perfect condition, five minutes after I'd clicked the Paypal button. How *does* he do it?
 9. Let me know if you find any. I have a few shockmounts and no spares.
 10.
I used to enjoy following a thread and gleefully anticipating his arrival, wondering just how far he was going to raise or lower the tone.

Very clever bloke and he knew far more than he generally let on. When he did let on, was often equally deft at putting either side of an argument. A sort of Frankie Boyle with humour really.

That's the thing, I think he was as clever as he was mischievous, I miss his mischief, it was funny, and he brought out people's personalities which gave the meat and potatoes of the forum some very welcome horseradish sauce and helped foster the sense of community we value so much.
He'll be along any time now to ask us to take our tongues out of his arse ;-)
 11.
dito
It's mine now!
 12.
It is. I'm still torn about the bloke's worth on BC though. He did make me laugh, and gave us permission to view things from odd and very often exquisitely offensive angles. He said one thing regarding rape that did anger me, so I just quietly dipped out for a while and when I came back.... no Beef.
I used to enjoy following a thread and gleefully anticipating his arrival, wondering just how far he was going to raise or lower the tone.
 13. I was going to suggest having a look see what Warmoth could do for you - they have a lot of bodies that they haven't yet routed for pickups and will do whatever you like (they did me a PJ and a P with a MM pickup). But then I looked at the prices.
 14.
Whoops. I've just pressed the down button to see what it'll do only to realise that I've given neepheid the thumbs down. Sorry mate! Good thing we're not using live ammo or something. How do you undo this?
Find someone who dislikes what Neepheid said and ask them not to press his down button.
 15.
Can't decide if this is pornography, bestiality or religious intolerance.
Three in one. D'oh! There I go again.
 16.
Like a sort of KY Jelly for the mind. Hurr.
More like slug trails, depending on the song.
 17.
Did I get a Knack for mechanics because it was hereditary or because I was around my Dad who did it 6 days a week for the early days of my life? Constantly watching him, being his Gofer and generally taking it all in. If it's hereditary where did my Dad get it my granda couldn't wire a plug. In fact he got stuck in a boat one day and it turned out the fuel pipe had fallen off. My brother is about as much use as a fart in a space suit when it comes to fixing things so how come some didn't rub of on him.?
This!
 18.
BC is just a little bit more grown up without him.
Big Jobs to grown-ups! Phrrrrrptttttt! <--- a big bezoomy shoom of lip music He called bullshit on me on more than one occasion (generally to put the boot into my wishy-washy liberalism). And he was often right. I think he was one of the most genuinely intelligent people here; he just chose to leave tact and diplomacy at the door. He enjoyed offending on an equal-opportunity basis and no-one made me LOL more, even when the joke was on me or I couldn't quite believe he'd dared stick his cock up that particular sared cow. <hyperbole alert> he was the closest thing we had to Frank Zappa.
 19. Nice writing. I liked 'nimble and melodically adventurous Precision Bass work of Bruce Thomas', spot on.
 20. Yes, you could use submixers, but into the line inputs rather than the mic XLR ins.
 21.
Note too that you can remember more lyrics if you learn them in a smaller font.
you'd have to sing them quieter is the only downside
 22.
I can imagine maybe if you had a cut on your tounge it might be nasty. At any rate, you might as well just buy a multimeter (although don't use it like the sailor in that article lol). I ought to get a multimeter. In fact I might ask for one for christmas.
Even then it'd be painful not fatal. What killed the sailor was the current flowing in through the thumb, down the arm and through the heart.
