No, but i have to put up with the stench. Its normally around a 7 or 8 out of 10 on the Sh*tter Scale.... Liam
Bill Bryson, as a kid, asked his teacher permission to visit the toilet. Teacher: -Is it a Number One or a Number Two? Bryson, Jr: -[thinks hard] Well miss, I haven't been for a couple of days so I think it may be as much as a Number Seven.
OK... (makes huge effort) hnnngggggg! It's working! Edit to remove the words buttock and clenching.
Guh, I need a high-fibre diet like yours :-)
Dunno if it's been mentioned already (haven't read full thread) but people calling strings 'wires'.
[Think of this as an embedded image of the sleeve of XTC's Drums And Wires] .

Could You Be the Worst Looking Bass in the World
Holy mother of God, I wish you hadn't! It looks like a perverted alien zither that has caught some kind of weird disease resulting in gross skin tumours. Or possibly a giant stag beetle that has been killed, stuffed and made into an egg-slicer.
Genuine coffee> laptop moment! -
Kunt And The Gang's new CD: Hurry Up And Suck Me Off Before I Get Famous. Went to the launch party at Nambucca last night; my girlfriend baked him a huge cock-shaped cake. Great support, too, from Monkish.
Tuning up my Status and this guy walks over and says ' So you can't afford a Fender then' 'No mate,I'm still saving for one' mutters fack off under my breath!
Tuning up my Precision and the promoter walks up and says -What the bloody hell do you think you're doing? -um, tuning my bass? -I booked you three months ago and you're only tuning up NOW? (a true story that happened to someone else, maybe it was you)
Yes, and check out the hideous pattern on those drapes!!!
haha, beat me to it (oo-er) -
Machine Heads instead of tuners. This may sound strange, but I have always thought that perhaps the machine head,ie the part of the guitar where the tuning machines go,and the headstock were one and the same. But how and why are tuners known as machine heads?
The question is, why have they used an American picture of a "gas" station?
I haven't seen such a great example of 'no-sh*t-sherlock' journalism for weeks. 'Motorway service stations are expensive but they have toilets'. Thank God for the Torygraph!
Oh and we made £5 Between us!
We got £10 between us for a Cambridge gig one time. The drummer put it on a mate's horse and it came in at 10-1. Anyway. Sorry the Portland engineer was a knob... Difficult accoustics though; a square room with no bass-trapping but lots of tiles to soak up the highs. And if you can get an atmosphere going there, you can do it anywhere. Hope the next one goes well.

I *hate* that version. The bass is all jolly and skips along, whereas the original is very dark and subtle. The original album is pretty much perfect in every respect, awesome piece of work.
Alembic Dragon Wing bass. I can't bring myself to post a picture.
I had to look, didn't I. Nurse! The screens! The happy thing about this thread is that the more I hate the look of a bass, the less I can afford it. Instant anti-GAS! -
Could You Be the Worst Looking Bass in the World
Well, I'm hating the basses in 'Could You Be The Most Beautiful Bass In The World' but loving the basses in 'Could You Be The Worst Looking Bass In The World', so what does that tell you?? It's a rhetorical question, by the way.
Likewise! -
Yes, I might try that, though it is active and someone said it works better with passive. Any other thoughts? I will try this but I suspect it isn't going to solve the problem!
The issue with active basses is that it's the first stage in the preamp that demodulates the signal; you need to get the ferrite between wherever the signal gets in and that stage. After that it's too late; it's audio. So if you have a passive bass you can stick a ferrite on the lead, and hopefully filter the signal out before it gets to the preamp. With a passive bass you could try putting it on the lead between pickup and electronics. The control cavity would have to be really well screened. We've spent months and £££ here trying to get rid of that horrible sound from our products www.toby-churchill.com ...
Sounds like you need better shielding - as mentioned above. Do you use foot pedals? They are notorious for picking up odd signals. I used to have a Zoom FX pedal that literally picked up Radio Tokyo in Loughborough!!!! Yes, really. If that one bass is worse than the others, it points to a problem with that bass - maybe get all the groundings resoldered? G.
Try a ferrite ring at the amp end of the guitar lead, as well as the mains lead as Icastle suggested. This is more likely to work if it's a passive bass.

Ipod, even if it's not switched on, as a bullshit deflector.
For anyone who doesn't know the story behind this bass - I have had a shed load of basses over the years so decided to put together the best parts of everything. Mahogany body - 30th Anniversary Stingray & Epi Goth Thunderbird Wenge neck - Warwick Thumb NT5 Ebony fretboard - Bass Collection SB625 '54 P bass style - my 2-tone Fender '51 RI was the best bass I ever owned but couldn't live with the lack of body contouring so went with the '54 style Gold flake finish - I had a Modulus Flea in silver so thought the gold would be cool The rest of it comprises Schaller straplocks and tuners, Gotoh 201 bridge, gold knobs, Warwick JAN III, CTS pots, Paper in oil cap, Switchcraft jack, SD quarter pounder SCPB I painted the headstock black, added a decal with my initials and laquered over it
That really confused me for a while...I took it to mean you'd taken a Thumb NT and not only reshaped the headstock but also managed to bolt it onto a Precision body you'd made from half a Thunderbird and half a Ray. I was seriously impressed. Meanwhile, still enjoying my Warmoth sort-of-P. I nearly traded the neck a few weeks ago - glad I didn't. It would have been a right pain in the arse getting it back ;-)

Looks good. Apparently I can insure against having flutes played at me: http://www.newmooninsurance.com/musical/
