Wise up! it's a feckin' strap.... an ugly one at that. linky
No feckin way! It's one of those narrow ones that cuts into your shoulder with the sliding buckle to enable it to get longer as the gig goes on. Exactly what you don't need for a heavy instrument like (to pick an example entirely at random) a Music Man.
It's been revised (I think). You can buy amps now as long as it's with an instrument. The perfect opportunity to get a back-up bass, then...
There you go. Licence to GAS!
boo if true.
I may be wrong. Like I said this was years ago.
wow is that just me or is that a cracking idea?
It's a cracking idea. The participating shops tend to be specialists in bassoons and cellos rather than electric/electronic instruments though. And there are limitations in what you can buy; I think computer-based instruments don't qualify, nor do amps and speakers. It's been a few years since I looked though, might have changed.
In Search of Sid Tuesday 20 January 2009 23:00-23:30 (Radio 4 FM) Musician Jah Wobble discovers the real Sid Vicious, 30 years after the Sex Pistols bassist's death. Then a swift station jump to Radio 2 for: Smokey Robinson explores Marvin's spiritual side, from his strict religious upbringing to his embrace of new age spirituality displayed in the What's Going On album.
Thanks! Look forward to that.
bought an xbox 360 game in Game for 24.99 new. didn't like and i just sold it on ebay for 25 quid!
Friend of mine bought a pair of cycling shorts for £6 or so from Aldi, tried them, didn't like them, sold them on Ebay for somewhat more than £6. The many cyclists on Basschat know that, like the kilt, nothing is worn beneath cycling shorts ;-)
Hi all, Advance notice that there is a book coming out in a month or so about the history of this ultra rare model. It is so rare I only ever owned 2 of them! One went to U2s Adam Clayton via his guitar tech whilst on tour (my good friend was tech for the support). The other one is now owned by my mate 'Big Baz' Matthews who has written the book. Advance pics are being E-mailed to me by Baz since I helped in some of the research. I still get misty-eyed when recalling my favourite one as I consider it to be the best sounding of all of the many P basses I have owned. The book's foreward is written by John Entwhistle but sadly he never got to do the epilogue.
Did parts of this become the famous Frankenbass as used on Live at Leeds?
You could always go with one of those Thomann own brand T-amps, or even a Behringer amp. Then you could pick up a decent rack EQ for between £1-200 and that in theory is all you need (excluding the cab of course).
That'd work with an active bass, but if you were using passive you'd need something to match the high impedance of the bass to the low impedance of the EQ.
Slightly worrying is the link at the bottom of each forum entry "CLICK HERE FOR OUR PAYPAL ALTERNATIVE" which links to a paypal competitor. If I was uncharitable I might conclude that the whole thing has been set up by the competitor to try and defame paypal.
Also slightly worrying is the fact that when I click on 'Former Paypal Employee #1 clears his conscience & offers help' I get a message from Opera that reads: 'The page you are trying to open has been reported as fraudulent. It will likely attempt to trick you into sharing personal or financial information. Opera Software strongly discourages visiting this page.'
Awesome news Alex. I look forward to see how this cab develops... Will you call it The Medium One?...
Because it can be heard on the Other Side of the Veil?! -
my '81 Precision I bought new from Rockbottom for £260 with my wages for working all summer in Bejams. I recently refitted the eighties EMG pick up I fitted andtook out a few years ago, but this time running it off 18v - It sounds massive now.
Is the eighties EMG P much different from the current model?
Maybe someone should point him to this thread.
How's that done? Don't you have to be a basschat member to read it? Come to think of it, do we want him to know we exist...he'll likely sign up and try to do an Allen on us.

A sticky, bass and family related situation
bremen replied to neepheid's topic in General Discussion
Oh dear, his mobile's now appears to be cut off. Looks like he's in bother He's probably stuck his head in the sand in response. I wish he could just talk about stuff instead of hiding away, or pretending everything is OK, making people think he's up to no good. Now I feel a bit bad for getting angry with him.
damn, this is exactly what I've been going through with an old, old friend; you hear nothing so you go through all the possibilities including that he's ripped you off and then feeling bad for feeling angry at someone that's in trouble. Hope he's ok and you get the bass. -
Friendly, fast and well packaged.
That's what the gf says anyway ;-)

Do you know when it was made? You can find the date from the serial number. And he said: ill check with serial no see if i get more info for you,i bought it 12 yr ago in usa second hand and its for sure made in usa, hope this helps you.thanks
I think Ti in this application is just a 'fashion victim'. Great for some uses though. I've got a bike frame custom made from some. Doesn't rust either.
I've had some crashes on my Ti bike that would have written off ali or steel. Not a scratch on it. No paint to get tatty, either :-)

Because it's not wrong, you know ;-)
That's right.. A babies vocal range is designed by nature to be at the most attention grabbing pitch it can be, purely for survival reasons..
So did the 1kHz hearing peak exist before babies evolved to yell loudest at that frequency, or did human hearing evolve to be most sensitive to the frequency of crying babies? Next week: chickens and eggs
Usually you want high mass saddles don't you? The hardness might do some good, but I don't think thats usually a huge consideration, makes them a pain to file and possibly damage your strings.
Sounds like a solution to a non-problem.
the easiest way to do that is to take the Basschat Market Place out of the View New Posts
That'd be good for my GAS :-)
Can open - worms everywhere.
ok here we go: 'By comparison, the human voice is general in the range of 80 to 1,100 Hz, ' Those numbers refer to the fundamentals of the notes that humans can sing. Sounds like 's' and 't' have components well into the tens of kHz. Take a recording of human speech and cut out the frequencies above 1100Hz and it'll be pretty much unintelligible.
