3 if you have any sarcastic remarks or you are bored please go and do something more interesting with your time than writing abuse in emails please read ebay rules as i have reported several people as regards this type of matter if its a general question and enquiry i will do my best to answer if not i will report you to ebay please take note of this comment thank you"
Wasn't just me then! ho ho, wouldn't it be funny if we got banned from Ebay for our cheeky 'enquiries' when none of the scammers we've reported have had their collars felt!
Next up will be the tuners and I cannot decide which to choose. Either the Geddy Lees , Standard Fender or from the "Spunkster" the rather nice Korean jobbies (Wilkinsons ?)....any ideas ? I suppose the Geddy Lees would probably look the best but they are also the most expensive....
I've got a new set of 'standards' made by Gotoh if you want them.
By the way everyone, in case anyone is interested, I also have a genuine Musicman String Ray for sale. It was custom made just for me because I asked them really nicely and they said they would only do this for me as I am special. I also whispered the magic password, "Sound Control" which means I only had to pay the special £51 for it. Its made from a special wood that I hand picked which is called plastic. You can only get it in places like China so it's really rare. I also made sure that it was active but did not require a battery so to do away with the silly battery cover. The pickups are my own design that can't be found anywhere else and Ernie Ball loves them. I call them the "Sound Control Specials". So again, these pickups are really rare. The headstock is also special as I insisted that Ernie Ball did away with any information on the back of it. All other Musicman basses have this so this makes mine even more rare. Finally the bridge. this is so rare that I can't actually talk about it. Either way, I think your love this genuine String Ray bass thats really old and vintage yet also not that old and is pretty new. I have attached a photo but if you want anymore then I'll find an excuse not to post them. I can't be fairer than that. I'll start the bidding at £51.
Hm, you can spell and form coherent sentences...that sets you above your usual Ebay scammer. I'll bid.
I'm thinking of selling a plectrum. I'll post pics just as soon as I've found a suitable model to display it ;-) Edit: found her. As you can see the plectrum she's holding is a genuine original pre-CBS Music Man without frettles, ideal for plugged-in jazz or larrup metal.

Bassist required for Scottish 'Alice Cooper' tribute 'Gallus Cooper'
bremen replied to cetera's topic in Musicians Wanted
I'm posting this on behalf of a good friend who plays 'Alice' in the superb Scottish 'Alice Cooper' tribute 'Gallus Cooper'... They require a new bassist, preferably in the Glasgow area or within easy travelling distance. Good gear and dedication required. Gigs lined up for 2009 including Glasgow Renfrew Ferry and a tour of some Academy venues. Anyone interested please contact Peter on: 07727 698451
Gallus Cooper is as brilliant a name for a Scots Alice tribute as Highway to Hull is for a Humberside AC/DC tribute :-) -
Hi all Thanks for your comments and offers of help. As it stands it would appear Allen_Baker now has a lot of negative feedback on Talkbass (I have been in contact with John Turner at TB to explain this), and possibly on the Warwick forum also. I've had a lot of offers of financial support (many thanks but not necessary I assure you), several offers from people in his vicinity of 'mediation', and quite a few people have said they might go along to his next gig! Given that so many of you work in music shops, studios etc, given that he might need to buy or sell something bass-related one day, or need some advice or help, that his band might support yours or that you might be at one of his gigs, I really can't see why £116.99 is so important to him? If as he says the amp was working when he sent it, why is he being so evasive? If it was damaged in transit as he claims, why didn't he make a claim through the courier as he said he would? Anyway, I guess the longer this goes on the less credibility he has? Chris
I'd say he's a rabbit in the headlights. He's apparently watched Jake's humiliation and has been reading this thread.
Has anyone contacted the other bidders in case he does offer it to them???
I would but only the 'winner' has his identity revealed at the end of the auction. Welcome Shonks! I was one of the mysterious strangers that warned you about the scam.
heya fellas i see a lot of you folks are leaving negative feedbacks on talkbass to certain folks based on transactions not taking place there. could one of you guys pm me (at talkbass preferably) some of the details of this? although i do want to inform folks about potential shysters out there that may be trying to rip people off, i'm not convinced that the talkbass feedback system should be used in this manner. i'm discussing it with my fellow admins over there, and we'll take into account any information that you care to share with me. thanks john turner forum administrator - talkbass.com
Hi John, the story starts here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=33516&hl= I know Beedster personally as well as on the forum, and I have no reason to doubt him. Cheers, Chris
Good news in the end. Has anyone emailed the winner to say its not a real Musicman??
yup
Huh, it seems being frank with him may have worked. I'll just wait and see if the seller de-lists it before replying. EDIT: he's taken it down
'The seller ended this listing early to sell to the high bidder(s) at current bid price.'
I've reported it to eBay. I'm going to be mean spirited and assume that the seller knows damn well what he/she is doing.
They won't do anything; they did nothing about a blatant Fender fraud that several of us reported a few months back. The best we can hope for is to tip the 'winner' off as soon as the auction finishes, before he parts with cash.

Is it OK if I have a quick snigger at the phrase 'jazz knobs'? Thanks! I feel a lot better now :-)
There's a difference?
The Precision neck has four blades at one end.
I vote we have a whip round and stump up the cash for a return ticket to glasgow and a cricket bat for Beedster.
It being Beedster, we should get him a Precision neck rather than a cricket bat.
Bemen, How hot can i expect this thermistor to get? I have an idea to place the thermistor in an external box or single gang extension plug rather than opening up the amp.
Too hot to touch, however hot that is!
Ok, I'll get onto this soonas the boss looks away...
here you go. Remember the surge-gard gets hot, so keep it away from the insulation and case. The terminal block should probably be rated at 15A.
Thanks for the info so far. The canford mains inrush protector looks like what i want but i don't wanna spend £70+ on one. I have purchased the thermistor . bremen Can you please send me a schematic for wiring this? Thanks again
Ok, I'll get onto this soonas the boss looks away...
indeed they do (as do R-S) but I'm not sure they will supply unless you have an account. CPC probably will supply though (part of Farnell, but more for the general public)
Farnell used to sell only to account customers, but they now do credit card transactions for messrs Tom, Dick and Harry.
Maybe we should all do that, saves the mods having to organise it.
Anyone that's done a deal with me and hasn't left feedback, could you do it here (points to link in sig)? And I'll do the same for you. I've had 100% good experiences so far.
The one I found is quite expensive, personally I'd go for the surge guard route (I've used them successfully in similar applications before) I don't think Maplin sell surge guards any more. I reckon there's a market here for a surge guard in a box with an IEC in and out. Cheers Martin
Farnell do them: http://uk.farnell.com/rhopoint/sg110/therm...gard/dp/1186611
