I like it, lots of other people like it, some people don't like it. Fun to play live too. I don't see how theres any more to the argument than this?
Like SteveK said, the OP was about the playing, not the song. I don't see how anyone could argue that it (the bass line anyway) is well played?

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???

Anyone ever put an Eminence Kappalite 3015 in a Trace Elliot 1153 cab?
bremen replied to dannybuoy's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'm thinking of getting an old knackered Trace 1153 and replace the driver with a Kappalite 3015 to give it increased power handling and a better all round sound. Anybody ever done this? I've downloaded WinISD but haven't fully sussed it out yet. The ports on this cab are round tubes that look like they'd be easy to modify if the cab needed to be retuned. Any advice would be appreciated!
What are the internal dimensions of the cabinet? I use a Kappalite 3015 in a 110 litre box and it's *great*. -
Beats me how it’s lasted so long in so many bands repertoire!
[tBBC] Chicks dig it. Because it evokes the rug-munching scene in American Werewolf In London. [/tBBC]
Just got Itunes on in the background while I'm working and VM's Moondance comes on.... I quite like this tune but one thing that has just struck me that I've not noticed before is that the Bass line in places is quite shoddy on the timing front?? Anybody know any thing about this? Jay
It's not just the timing - it has a really 'heavy-handed' feel to it. Horrible. It's far too high in the mix as well, that doesn't help.
Tried the TL Audio but it wasn't the 5050, it was the 5001 if I remember right. Anyway, there wasn't a great difference in tone. I've also tried an API preamp, both thru my cab and thru studio monitors... the difference isn't worth the price. The TL audio was slightly nicer on the high end while the API was warmer and crispier. I fear I should spend at least 600 pounds to have something _really_ better sounding than my ART. Opinions?
Had you considered upgrading the valve in the ART? Swapping the Chinese 12AU7s in my SVP made a huge difference. If it doesn't have the desired effect you still have a quality valve to re-use or re-sell.
Yea true, but this particular unit is just a mic pre, I don't think it even has an instrument input so didn't think he'd want to use it with a bass. Besides, if it was creating excessive amounts of noise when barely even turned up I think that is gonna be a pain whatever you plug into it. It seemed really badly built too. Just my opinion though of course.
ah, well in that case it's definitely not suitable as a bass preamp!
-
Tried one live on vocals a few weeks ago and it sucked. It hissed really badly and sounded really poor. Just went straight into the desk in the end.
What sounds good with a mic won't necessarily sound good with a bass, and vice-versa. They're completely different levels and impedances.
I have - it's the one of the most f***ing annoying things ever - thankfully it was on my Girlfriends mums pc so I don't have to deal with it - I spent a couple of hours trying to get it to go away and couldn't. Apparently it has something to do with Vista (doesn't happen on XP machines).
Is there *anything* good about Vista? My girlfriend's laptop runs (crawls?) Vista and it's just louping with popups and 'features'. Takes about a day to boot up all its irritating little bells and whistles.
The guy says he runs a shop but he says that he is an I.T. professional. He say that he knows how to spell bass but doesn't do it, and he can't punctuate to save his life. In fact He can't write intelligent English at all. It sounds like he USED to be an IT professional, and is now failing as an ebay shop too, because he's stuck with that bass!
actually, he doesn't 'know' how to spell bass; he 'no' how to spell it. He was trying to sell a Carlsboro rig for £1600. I mailed him and asked if he knew the meaning of the word 'irony' (well, he did kind of invite it ) and he accused me of sarcasm and reported me to Ebay.
I have been playing in the social clubs round the south for years. I dont remember any clubs letting kids in on new years eve. Its not just the comittee its often the members themselves. People often come out to a club to get away from the kids, and if they want to get up and have a dance, its no fun for them if there are loads of kids running around. Where kids are allowed in, you often see the parents half pissed and the kids asleep on the benches. Im not taking sides, and I have two kids who can only come and see dad play on rare occasions, but I do see both sides of the argument.
Fair enough, ban young kids or those that behave badly, but Minus Zero is 13, not 8, so is old enough to know how to behave. And his/her dad won't be pissed; he's a professional, dammit!
-
We've just found out that the venue I'm gigging at on New Years Eve won't allow children anywhere in the building at all that night. That's any age of child - no-one under 18 allowed. So Minus Zero, at 13, can't attend, therefore Mrs Zero also can't attend, so I'll be seeing the New Year in without her. The minor consolation is getting about £250, but this is one NYE gig I don't want to do again. And I'll be packing up and f***ing off just as soon as I can after midnight. The stupid thing is that it's a social club that we're playing at. Anti-social club might be a better name for it. The WMCs and social clubs round Brum really seem to have some sort of death wish, they're largely child-hostile, which means that they won't pull in anything like the numbers that they could. Blame the lack of numbers on the smoking ban, blame it on the credit crunch, don't blame it on the idiot decisions of a bunch of geriatric twats, aka The Committee.
No-one hates/fears the young quite as much as the Brits do.
