I know on this and many other forums folk are always going/ranting on about 'what winds me up, makes me angry, pisses me off' etc. Nobody can make you angry. You have a choice. If you just react without thinking you're disempowering yourself. And that really pisses me off.
Good call, and I do usually react with good humour and almost no sarcasm when my drummer tells me what sort of rig I should be using.
 2.
Thanks for you comments mate, yeah I'm pretty p$$$$d off to say the least! Yeah a 5er and that's a good call for the Warwick, I love Warwick's they are so freaking cool, no matter what style you want to play whether it be metal, rock, jazz blues you will always get an awesome sound out of a Warwick. I'll have keep my eyes and ears open, and keep checking fleabay!
You don't need to bother with Fleabay: http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_rockbass_...ndard_5_nhp.htm
 3.
Doesn't it spoil the taste of the meths?
Nah, makes it nice and chewy.
 4.
just seen on a bass website that you can clean your strings with methylated spirit anyone tried it and if so are the results any good?
Yes. I've taken to wiping my hands on a meths-soaked cloth every now and again while playing, to keep the sweat and finger jam from getting into the strings in the first place. Looks good on stage, a bottle of meths on top of the amp.
 5.
given yr budget, someone on the Forum is selling a Warwick Thumb at that level - excellent metal bass. re pick sound, maybe you need to turn up the High EQ on yr amp to pick up the 'click' of your fingers and make it sound more percussive ... or change your style Steve Harris has a very clicky finger sound, for example
600 for a Thumb is a bit of a bargain. And yes, you can get a very clicky sound with fingers on a Thumb (if you see what I mean). Play hard and get some good callouses!
 6.
It... wasn't a typo :brow:. 8.
and just beated the holy crap out of him..
Literally, in this case ;-)
 9. I bought Live At Leeds. Then, later, Bob Marley and the Wailers Live at the Lyceum to learn which notes to leave out.
 10.
But a meddling mum in law has decided that the bridgroom is not a capable person, and took the matter of entertainment in her hands, (he was in charge of booking entertainment, and in his own words, 'the bride and her mum dont think i (he) is capable of arraging that') went to a wedding fair, and booked a disco. No one feels more for that guy, cos he would have had a much better night with us!
Christ, never mind his day being spoiled by a crap disco instead of a good band, I worry more for his future life with a ma-in-law like that!
 11.
why do I feel tempted to bid on this???????
It's strangely compelling, isn't it!
 12.
If you sign up you can upload your own photos/images and sell them, I think they take a cut. I was going to get some ladies thongs made with the band name on. It's a lot simpler than getting a load or your own merch done. Thing is though, it's all in the states I think so not sure what the delivery is like.
Shipping with USPS is really cheap for thongs. Even huge ones. I've paid less shipping for T shirts from the US than some UK companies charge.
 13.
I'm venturing into the realms of the fretless bass and I was wondering what strings should I use? Now I know people will say it depends on what type of sound I want to achieve, flats will produce a more upright bass sound and rounds will be a brighter sound. What I would like some advice is if I use rounds obviously these will mark the fretboard. But I was wondering how quickly will rounds take to "damage" the FB if at all?
GHS Pressure Wounds work well for me. Halfway between round and flat, almost no finger noise but still a nice middley definition, and plenty sustain.

 15.
Been down the pub and met up with a guitar playing mate and got talking about the old days. he got talking about a club in Sunderland where he played and it seems they where minutes from going on when a bloke barged into the dressing room ranting and raving demanding to know who had parked in his spot.there was a large white van in his parking place. turned out he was the club secretary. the bass player turnes to the guy who was bald and says perfectly innocently keep your hair on mate to which the rest of the band burst out laughing. he was not amused and told the band to leave. so they they collected their money and went home. dont know what the guy said to rest of the club whe they found out there was no entertainment on. dont suppose anyone here on basschat has been paid off or have they?
Speaking of 'paid off', 'bald' and 'Sunderland': I played in a covers band many years ago and we had a gig in a wmc in Sunderland. We played the first set and all was ok...then during the interval loads of skinheads turned up, as the word had got out that the band was playing Specials and Selector songs. The secretary paid us off before the moonstomping started. Shame, the first set was played to the sound of one hand clapping and the second one could have been fun.

 17.
Hi All I was at a jam night recently, and after everyone was set up and ready the guit***** started tuning up, and taking ages over it. Not surprising really as it can be a noisy place. I offered to let him use my tuner, upon which he looked at me as if I had crawled out from under a convenient stone, and told me he didn't trust the things. To be fair to him, he is a pretty fair guitarist, just a cr** singer. My tuning as always been spot on (my issue is disobedient fingers). What does everbody think - love them or hate them?? Steve
Doesn't trust the things? What's not to trust? Tell you what I hate: people who sneer at people offering help.
 18.
My Mum was played by Entwistle, and she's a pig.
Tell the story!
 19.
Ah -ha! So you realised that if it was cheap, every Tom, Dick and Harry could potentially nip in and buy it before you Good thinking to delete your content! Be sure to let us know what it's like if you do get it
What _are_ they like, in general? Apart from pig-ugly...which seems to be a requirement for a bass played by Entwistle ;-)
 20.
Pretty straightforward really. If you play random notes, with no musical sense whatsoever, and just make a dreadful tuneless din, then that's jazz, so you'd use a Jazz bass. If on the other hand you play the right notes, in the right place, at the right time, that's playing with precision, so you'd use a Precision bass. Sorted. (As it's Friday, Astronomer is now leaving the premises to get anethsetise... aenaethesised.... aneasthsetized.... scuttered. Be back to receive my flaiming later. )
WAHEY! It's Friday!

 22.
I agree - although mine has a jazz neck
Isn't a P with a J neck the hermaphrodite of the world of bass? Not that there's anything unmanly about loving a hermaphrodite :-)
 23.
Oh, I see, so that the battery isn't drained when the bass isn't plugged in?I hadn't thought about it. I'll have to check this, I don't have the bass at the moment. Anyone know what the standard is for an Aria ProII? I realise it's not very specific, but it's late 80s I think, all black with gold writing on the headstock. Actually, that's just stupid, i'll post again when I have the model number and checked the jack socket.
