Damn you've outbid me @ $1.01 I've seen those pics before many times... do scammers have a website / image library somewhere? Come on let's keep any further bids below $10!
Haha! Are you o***c or a***s?
Yeh, the jack socket's a bit weird on this one, it's a rectangular black plastic box thing. It won't matter if I put in a normal socket will it? I assume the plastic isn't shielding or anything.
That sounds like it's got a separate switch that's actuated when the jack goes in, ie isolated from the audio circuitry. How many pins/tags?
Thought it was a bit suss, not that I'd have the cash if it were genuine
I've offered him $1.49 and said I'll come and pick it up so I don't have to pay $$$ for shipping from Kiddermister to Cambridge.
HSW (Health and Safety at Work) is not a magazine I regularly read but I saw a copy in a colleagues office today with an electric violin on the cover and the headline "And the bands played on... Musicians cope with new noise limits". The gist is that new regulations have come into place affecting those who work in places with high volume music. As well as bar staff, etc, that covers musicians as well whether you're wedged between a guitarist's Marshall stack and a drumer trying to wake John Bonham or sitting in an orchestral pit in front of the brass section. This legislation has been place for other noisy environments for sometime and was actually delayed because, to quote the HSE (Health and Safety Executive), "... music is unusual, as it is noise deliberately created for enjoyment...". Personally, I prefer my music quiet enough to listen to rather than so loud it beats me round the head and will be glad if this gradually makes "loudest band in the world" less of a title that many bands seem to strive for. More details, including plenty of further reading here. Place to buy Individual Hipshot Ultralites?
bremen replied to Shockwave's topic in General Discussion
I would try Hipshot themselves. They have always been helpful and prompt. if you want a contact email then pm me.
+1, but make sure you contact them by email rather than order online as the webshop charges a 'standard' shipping rate higher than if you have contact with a human. -
So, when I got my Ibazzy SR Prestige, it was equipped with Elixir Nanoweb's. Wonderful strings, covered with thin protection-coat, but I'm playing with 'em for about 9 months, coating is almost off, though they still produce punchy sound, I think, I need to change 'em. But the prob is, I can't get those damn Elixir's here in Lithuania at the moment, and due to interest to try somethin' different I've chosen Rotosound Swing Bass. I wanted same gauge as Elixirs were ( 45/125), but there's no same in stock, so I'm thinking to try 40/60/80/100/125. What I'm interested in, would there be any real difference in sound between them, due to manufacturer and gauge?? And, at last, are those Roto's really worth money - I've never had any bussiness with them before. I'm playing rock/metal and some slappy/funky stuff sometimes.
I like Rotos. Some folk complain that they feel rough. Rub Fast Fret into them and they feel fine. Wish they lasted longer, but I've never found any strings that keep their new sound. Tried Warwick coated strings (nanoweb?) and hated them, they didn't seem to last any longer than normal and didn't have the brand new piano sound in the first place. Won't Thomann.de ship to Lithuania?
why? £129 doesn't seem a too bad price to me?
it was a typo that's been corrected - it was 12 grand when the OP spotted it.
Contact Thomann and asked for them to collect the items, explaining your position. You are covered by your statutory rights as a consumer. As long as the items are unused they have to offer you a full refund.
Do just that and they'll send someone round to pick them up. I've never had a problem with returning stuff to them.
I've got a Dupuytren's contracture. Yay. So far, I'm getting away with it but it's coming on in leaps and bounds. I'm just going to worry about it when I need to...
I'm told that it can be fixed with a very simple operation...so simple that it's *almost* affordable to get done privately.

we played the Cambridge battle of the bands. Great audience, including our own Charic. We got the highest AND the lowest score of any of the bands - one judge gave us 7 out of 40 and another 30something. We are Marmite! dead chuffed that we are officially not mediocre. We didn't win. Good laugh though, played to a new audience and made some new friends.
I was just wondering whether or not most bassists here use their little finger for fretting? I know quite a lot of guitarists who don't really, unless they are shredders in which case they do! Personally, my little finger is pretty strong so I like to use it.
does anyone *not*?
Not Blasphemy Joe. Just personal preference.
Apostasy, then! What would happen if I replaced my quarter pounder with a Thumper? (so to speak...;-)
So what are you thinking......
You quite liked the ebony fingerboard on my Warmoth fretless didn't you - the slow attack effect?
Hi all Does anyone know if Fender ever produced factory fretless Precisions with ebony necks in the 1970/early 1980s, either as standard or a custom option? Cheers Chris
Are you thinking what I'm thinking you're thinking?

When did someone put a big notice on BC saying 'Sell Here'?
bremen replied to warwickhunt's topic in Site News
I don't really have a problem with it. I see newbie sellers with 0 posts the same way as newbie ebayers with 0 feedback. Approach with caution!
Likewise. Anyone who posts stuff for sale as their first post isn't going to get such a good response as someone who's known, so it's their problem. And maybe they'll hang around after they've sold the guitar. On the other hand, if a newbie has something for sale that I want, I'll buy it...I'll just be a bit more wary than if I was dealing with someone I 'know'. -
I was able to "fix" the a few notes (lack of sustain) on the G string on a buddy's Fender Jazz by taking the neck off and installing brass inserts and machine screws in place of the stock neck screws. If anyone is looking to try this, It did require some drilling in the stock neck holes to make room for the inserts. after measuring, I used a drill bit stop so I wouldnt drill through the neck completely. Other than watching out for that, its a fairly easy mod, and holds the neck to the body very tight.
Interesting...what prevented the brass inserts from just pulling out?
Just thought, there is also the Fender Bassman 135. A chum on here has one and I've gigged it and it's bloody loud! I believe he got his for around £300ish, but may be wrong. That's 135 watts of great all tube goodness. Loverly!
The Bassman 135 is indeed a ballsy amplifier. Much louder and better sounding than the Bassman 100, which I find a bit thin.
That was the PA you were looking at. I've seen them loads of times in the eighties and only remember Trace stuff. According to an interview in Strangled fan mag the first two albums were recorded using bust Carlsboro speakers. Try emailing Martin"Pontious"Rushent for the full S.P.
Anyway. All goes to prove that the sound is in his hands. There was a thread here talking about Robbie Shakespeare, how he'd been spotted using everything from violin bass to Steinberg and whatever instrument he used he sounded like Robbie Shakespeare. Same applies to JJ.
I'm not so sure about the Hiwatt stack thing. I saw the Stranglers back in the day and he was definately using a Marshall cab (just the one). Not that it makes much difference really.
I saw them back in the day (1980ish) and he had what looked like 10kW of bass bins, mids and highs with lenses and all the 80s 'big PA' trimmings. Good riot, too :-)
yes boycott all chinese stuff because of their awful human rights record, tibet and Sudan. boycott all american stuff because of the injustice of the IMF and World bank screwing the developing world through trade, illegal wars in the middle east and general policy of going around the world killing folk who disagree over the last 50 years. boycott all UK stuff for following US on the above, being a major player in the arms trade, failing to put anysort of commonwealth pressure on mugabe or china (for the above), or turkey, or israel...... don't ya just love our western-colonial cultural moral smugness?
+1000 I'm setting up an electronics company in Wales. I don't think we've ever done anything unpleasant to anyone, so come on everybody: Buy TaffCo!

Advice for a rock bassist wanting to expand horizons!
bremen replied to Bigwan's topic in General Discussion
How weird is that - that was the first thing I thought of!
same here. He really nailed being melodic _and_ funky and tough.
Slightly off topic - who else thinks the Chili Peppers have been crap since BSSM?
There's some lovely bass on One Hot Minute.
