1. I know it's a great rig but my main gigging band is going in ears and the drummer has gone to an electronic kit. It's 95% of the gigs I play so reluctantly selling this. I've got another head I can use for the 'loud' gigs and my pedal board covers my di,comp and drive. All change as ever😀
2. Yup it's a tough decision and it's one of those bits of gear..... We had a band rehearsal on Sunday in a practice room last week and the sound was so-so. On the Monday we had another rehearsal where we had to supply our own gear for the same band and the band all commented on how better the bass sound was on the Monday. I'll get stick from all my bands once this goes! Also all PM's replied to.

Now gone, thanks for all the interest!
4. UK based Hudson electronics have the Broadcast "The Broadcast is a transformer coupled, discret Class-A germanium pre-amplifier based on the classic broadcast consoles of the 1960s. In the low-gain setting, the Broadcast can cover everything from sparkling clean boost through to transparent overdrive, all with a healthy dose of volume available to push your amp." Search you tube and there's Eli jack Cassidy (I'm presuming) with flats being demo'd Low gain sounds good!! I find myself in the same boat looking for just the right type of low gain with flats. The Broadcast sounds good to my ear in low gain mode

6. Hey did you notice any differences with the valve changes?
7. Aww FFS! I know Fender get a lot of sh*t for not doing different designs and then they do this. Fender just keep punting out P and J basses. Terrible!
8. Good to hear you've got it set up to suit your needs. I love the sound TK got on those recordings. Big fat tone!
9. I use a fender bassman 100 combo for the small gigs and its got a tilt back feature. 4ohm speaker means you get the full 100w out of the combo. Its a great sounding wee amp, used it to record an album along with its D.I. out. Sweepable mids etc so you can make its a bit more mid forward for monitoring purposes if needed. It's solidly built and has an eminemce speaker! No longer made but well worth a try if you can find one. Its this one.... 10. Getting more of a feel for it now Mike? How's it sounding into the amp?

12. Just playing devils advocate but I thought power amp rigs were all about transformers and heft rather than light weight class d power sections? I'll get my coat. In saying that I'm just about to rehearse with the TTE 500 cause tonight's rehearsal room is a pain to get into so light weight wins the rig choice this time round!
13. The Aguilar does appeal but maybe that Oct Mini is worth a look.
14. At about 3:08 in this video is something i was thinking about..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI5Eg5Whu-8
15.
Been interesting reading. Doing some new stuff with a guy who's got a club/jazzy background and looking at having an octave effect to recreate some of his stuff. I'll be checking out the video clips later with headphones.
Cheers Andy

17. Flats sound great on a jazz. Remember your amp has a treble control so you can dial back in the top end but flats will give you a different version on that back pick up burp.
18. Err I'm not suing him 😀
19. Basses PZ5 -with flats 63 AVRI - with flats Cab Tecamp M212 Amp and Pre Fender MB1200 Aguilar DB680 Pedal Board Basswitch using a Cali76 in the always on series fx loop FEA Photon FuzzII in the Mix fx loop with clean blend TU-2 tuner The rig sounds great and its very easy to adjust the tone on the fly to suit the on stage mix or an odd room. The 680 has a Jensen transformer on the DI which works really well. My wee pedal board gives me the ability to go direct without the rig if needed on a small gig or gear share type gigs. The live rig is great, always enough headroom, clear articulate sound and the basses feel great to play. I have a small 100w Fender combo for smaller gigs when stage volume doesn't need to be loud and it works a charm as a monitor when using PA support out front. Sometimes I'll change one bass to rounds depending on what I'm doing with certain bands but live it's 99% flats.
20. So sk8.... How's the little black box working out for ya?
21.
At the risk of ruining a perfectly good witch hunt. . . . Not twice the price. If my maths is right, the TH500 at approx £819 is slightly over 30% more expensive than the TH350 at approx £600.
No witch hunt just observation.
