  1. Yup I use this bad boy live. I have a back up lightweight head but since getting this I've not used it. It isn't as complicated as some think it looks. Find the frequency you want to boost or cut, adjust the 'Q' or bandwidth of that frequency; narrow for cutting or wider for boosting and adjust bass and treble to taste. Easy as that! At a recent gig I was getting a weird resonance every time I hit an F note. Quickly dialed out the troublesome frequency before the next song and problem sorted. I previously had an Eden power amp and tried a couple of pre-amps the Read Purity being one of the best. In my rehearsal room I had that bi-amped and run a 410 (for the lows) and 115( for the high) and it was massive sounding Lightweight gear is great but I do really enjoy gigging with this rig. The sound is worth the weight. dissa - I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Fender pre-amp. [attachment=238252:IMG_0590.JPG]
  2. I still can't believe these are so cheap considering what they cost new. Sure the Indonesian ones are cheap but these Italian model have the Bang&Olufsen module and sound great. I say this as an owner of the TTE (and I paid more than this for it). It's my back up head but a great unit make no mistake! Literally plug and play simplicity.
  3. The oldest ad on BC perhaps? I have newer Tecamp 2X12 and it's a wonderful cab
  4. I totally missed your reply on this. I can't recall the attack and release times but I have read them somewhere in the past. I'm actually interested in getting a swap for my Germanium version - they were a limited edition of 100 units - for the Iron Core TX version as I think the extra colour from the transformer would be great with my tube preamp. Do you have any finished clips from the recording session you mentioned above?
  5. Combustion does have a fast slim neck for a 5 as far as I recall. Certainly slimmer than the Lakland JO5 I had.
  6. Yeah I know and that's why deep down I'll keep it and schlep it to every gig I can. I was gigging at the weekend and every time I hit an F note on one particular song the room vibrated.. used the parametric eq and notched out the troublesome frequency in seconds between songs, added back a little bass and problem solved. The 680 has the Jensen out, the tubes just a wee bit bigger and maybe not so pedal board friendly 😉
  7. I've a similar one involving …………… C'mon you knew someone was gonna write that!
  8. Bumping again Guys some low offers. I'm just trying to get back what I paid. I'd be interested in a swap for a 4 string set of TI Jazz flats of Lakland/GHS Flats cut for a P bass. Cheers
  9. I used to own this cab or one exactly the same. It's was brill. I'm off to recommend it to my mate who's after a 212. I might even try and sell him mine and snap this up instead!!
  10. If the album mix is anything to go but there was no bass in this album 😜
  11. I recently picked up a great dirt pedal FEA fuzz thing and it's quite versatile but I find myself only using dirt in about 5% of the songs I play. Still it's good to have a great time on those 5% of tunes. For the cost of some boutique gear you could buy the basic parts and pay for a course in electronics and have the skills to make some of those pedals!
  12. I was all set to sell my DB680 and get a Noble but I figured if I was lumping the power amp may as well keep the 680 it's only another few kg's😀 It's one of those things that on paper makes perfect sense but I was after the 680 for ages and would be reluctant to sell it. Maybe if I can shift my back up head I'll take the plunge.....if the exchange rate ever picks up! Cheers for the clips btw
  13. I'd be interested in using one but the price is prohibitive. In saying that if it was your main 'sound' and did a lot of live and recording it would make a lot of sense. Big warm tone, pedal board friendly etc. I had considered selling my main pre to get one, I play about 40 gigs a year give or take and if I sold my main pre the Noble could replace it. Be interested to hear what its sounds like into a power amp. I'm supposing it could drive a power amp I'll pop over to the Noble site for a read!
  14. Flea and Chad isolated mixes combined https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG62J7nGmqc
  15. As mentioned in previous Joe Dart and Vulfpeck chat they use the Vulf compressor (demo's of it are available on you tube) which also adds a really noticeable colour to the overall sound too which would be difficult to reproduce. Joe's playing is great and he'll often use a mute and dig in quite hard
  16. In the past when I've had a separate di box with me I'd often just switch it over and tell the sound guy I was doing so. If it's gigs where my back line is being used and I'm there from load in/set up I'll always chat to the sound guy, explain what I'm after and what kit I have and usually we have no bother. I did once have a sound guy snub my preamp di for his cheap and battered di box but I unplugged it, carried it back to him and explained there was a Jensen transformer on the di out of the pre and if it was good enough for Boosty Collins to mod his Neve console with one then we could probably get by with it for one night. Ultimately you'd hope the sound guy has the basic kit and knowledge to get you heard. That is kinda the point of him being there irrespective of who's gear is the primary di!
  17. Laptop has been broken so no audio I'm afraid. Would swap for Cali76 TX version only if you're up for it?
  18. I think I've managed to guilt Apple into fixing my laptop so off the market for now I'll update once the outcome is officially confirmed.
  19. Price drop now that guitarguitar have slashed the price in these £415 shipped in the UK
