  1. Jazz James Do you mean an Aguilar DB659 or DB680?
  2. This looks like a pretty versatile amp. I never realised it was so versatile always thought of these as rock or metal amps. How's the sound with just a smidge of drive?
  3. I've an opportunity to try one of these later today and I'm very excited. Let's hope I don't do something silly and buy it as I'd have to figure out how to get it home safely from Washington DC!!
  4. Me too - comp always on in one loop and (for now at least) a Line 6 M5 in the blend loop for the other effects I need on the gig. The ability to engage the eq to beef up a drive sound or your tone in general. I gig passive P bass>pedalboard> (as above)>amp. Done! I see they have brought out a smaller version for acoustic guitar, maybe a mini bass version to follow in the future? Good luck with the sale and for those guys reading who have a couple of go to pedals this is an invaluable unit especially if you run a comp in your set up.
  5. I use a Basswitch on my wee pedal board and it's a fantastic unit. Two efx loops- (1 series, 1 parallel), clean blend, clean boost, switchable eq, great DI sound tuner out, mute function.... It really is a great 'hub' device that other effects can be routed through for maximum flexibility. I've gigged mine direct into a power amp just for fun and it was faultless. Here's a great video review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvAp9ygCAvw

    Lull basses

I'm 5'5" To be fair the JA is a sweet looking bass but it'd look daft on me

    Lull basses

Cheers HJ I'm off to the USA next week and I know I'll be looking at a few on talkbass. Don't think I'll find one as good as that T-Bird though!
  8. Am I correct in thinking only the Lull T-Bird is an oversized body and the rest of Mike's basses are pretty standard? Seen a few that have caught my eye recently and was wondering as I'm only wee.
  9. That's a great looking conversion Jose. Was it an expensive mod to have done?

    G&L

I'm off to the USA next week and I'm keen to try an LB-100as well as whatever I can get my mitt's on - Boston, MA is first on my list!
  11. Just to add to Karl's ad. The pick up in these basses is the Fender Custom Shop '59 which is a really really good pick up. It's one if the better p pick up's on the market.
  12. Is it valve or solid state. Oh and if it's Class D what sorta heft does it put out?
  13. Yeah I'd agree. If you wanna drop some serious cabbage on a bass there are so many options once you enter into the £1500 and above mark - from custom built to vintage. A p bass is a p bass. A half decent bass, good pots, nice sounding pick up and you're there. For three grand you could get a solid valve pre amp like a Nobles, good older P bass (from Asia or USA) or have one made to your spec. Hell grab a RW or 50's p and you're totally in the ball park. I play a P5 and while its not a traditional looking P bass it still sounds like a p bass made even better with good valve pre amp. Good luck in your search!
  14. Looking forward to trying you settings out
  15. Yeah i'm in two minds myself - I think this is a better pre and really thickens up in the mids once you drive the input. Tried some new valves in it and gonna see what it sounds like on Sunday at rehearsal G
  16. Legend! That is all Seriously though I've had a couple of things off George now and it's been a pleasure - good communication and fast turnaround from payment to receipt of goods. Top man!
  17. La Bella slappers (discontinued, now called something else), nickel wrapped 4 string set, seen some wear and tear, silks are pretty messy, posted for £15 Requested the wrong strings from a recent BC sale thread (got La Bella and Thomastik mixed up D'oh!) so now up for grabs are these La Bella's. I don't own a 4 string bass so as the ad says £15 posted if you want them. Cheers
  18. These are killer basses hang real nice on the strap and have more tones than anyone needs. I too had one for a while but moved it on as I was basically using it as a passive P bass - which sounded killer. I think Tredders got mine I'd take another in a heartbeat especially a SSS 5'er.
  19. Yeah the Noble looks pretty sweet and to have it on the pedal board I can just bring the power amp pedals and cab and have a massive sounding rig.
