I'm just sitting here playing my rig into headphones and the Element just ties everything together. If Lebowski had a pedal board the Element would be his 'rug'! Does make me want to add another comp pedal to the Di out as it really does a fine job. There is space for one so...

Brilliant. You’ll dig it. It’s a classic comp circuit based loosely off the dbx 160 I think. Just be careful you don’t find yourself down the compressor rabbit hole and this time next year you’ll have tried o]and probably own about 5 different comp pedals 😀

The eq points up close!
-
There is a classic slap scoop sound which is inherent in a two pick up bass and can be enhanced with additional eq to make it more pronounced. I got a Funkulator pedal recently - a one knob preshaped EQ with a 800Hz cut and some volume matching with the highs and lows. Works a treat and as you dial up the control the effect is intensified.. at lower settings it enhances a finger style tone and pairs nicely with drive too. It’d likely cost the same as an eq pedal so some might argue that an eq would offer greater versatility. There was a an EWS BMC pedal for sale on here recently too and that is a really useful tool for selecting a frequency to cut or boost - it’s compact, works perfectly and would give you what you need with no faff. Again it’s a matter of buying a full graphic pedal or something ‘specialised’ like the two mentioned. Many great compressors out there and a TC spectracomp might be an affordable introduction and will offer tone prints - basically presets- you can load in to get the type of compression which suits your needs again with minimal fuss. BMC - no connection to the seller.

What about the Genzler re/q? Putting the East into a box would be the most versatile in that you can tune the lows and highs as other than being able to select some fixed frequency points many pedals don’t have that range... The colour box would already be doing some of that work would it not? Or get this…

PM’d you -
I already have a set in my flea jazz but would happily have another to put in the HB jazz. The Fralins sound (on paper) to be pretty good and do let us know how you like them.

Glad it’s all worked out.

If the OP fancies some Bart’s I’d take the flea pick ups 😉

Daisy chain style connector for pedal board
krispn replied to krispn's topic in Accessories and Misc
Hey Bruce! I’ll pm you just reread this and I think I mistook what the connectors looked like. It was an early start this morning after a long day at work! -
So I recently nabbed a fender LVL8 power bank and I have used all 8 power connectors. They look pretty standard and I might want add a pedal or two to the board. My query is can you buy a daisy chain type connector which fit’s directly into the power bank? I might have to settle for a boss one and power additional units from the 9v out of my Boss TU-3 which is grand but ideally I could find something which could tun directly from the LVL8. Im not sure if the likes of Voodoo Labs use the same connectors and if they do such a connector. 3 in line would be plenty. Suggestions welcome!

I think the fender ‘64 which are found in the flea signature bass are killer. 60’s so darker thanks 70’s set but man what a set of pick ups. If you can find some worth a try. Bart’s Classic Bass are killer too. I put them in a HB J bass and they elevated the sound. Model J’s do a darker nearly verging on p bass thing and are great too. I’ve experience with all these pick ups I’ve mentioned. Any of them would do what you’re asking.

I have to admit I’m intrigued too. I’ve read @Baloney Balderdashposts previously about signal chain and effects. It seems a lot of thought and effort has gone into the choice and placement of pedals. I’m just interested as I’ve often read threads where people have 10-15 or more pedals and I’m fascinated to know what sound such a board can create.
