fanned fret bass or guitar from IBZ?
-
Yeah I'm not really wanting to sell it but the 55-01 with Nordstrands that came up a while ago has caught my eye. I feel really quite at home on a 5 string as it turn's out and other than selling my foot I can't really afford £500 quid on a second bass If this doesn't sell it no hardship to keep and yeah Dave excellent work. Its a beaut! Whats not to like right!!

In the past I've just used a basic pedal to get the signal in there and then used GB for any other tone stuff. If its just a basic signal intp the mac that will do it. I now run a preamp into the mac and that gives me all the signal boost i need etc.

Some fine suggestions there and as a Lakland player already I am drawn to them. I'll see what pops up over the coming months and see if I can give the Squiers a go too. I'd really prefer to try before I buy for this purchase as the 35" scale does appeal to me more - pickups etc can always be changed down the line. Cheers

OK so I'm thinking of moving to a 5er! I've played a Fender P 5 (2012) for a little bit when I decided to make the move a few yrs ago but got cold feet and was switching between 4 and 5 and feel I should have just played the 5 exclusively. Anyways I've been kindly loaned a 5 in the past and got to grips with incorporating the B string into my playing style, reworked my bands current tunes playing the root notes off the B and not just focusing on the lowest notes and I really do like the added depth of using the B string plus its good to have a to rethink what I'm playing. It also feels like I have a better range/command of the fret board if that makes any sense to you 5 players out there. Anyhow I'm looking at some 2nd hand 5er's, including the Lakland 55-01 and an Ibanez 1205 which are available locally. I've played them both and like what they have to offer. To my ears the 35" lakland carried a bit more weight to the notes, even the open E sounded 'deeper' which I attribute to either the scale length or my own madness. The Ibanez was light and comfortable and I enjoyed the N'strand pick ups. What do ppl reccommed I check out in around the £500-£700 price range? Any bargains I should be aware of? I whole heartedly welocme PM's if you have somehting for sale but I'll probably try and trade an amp for your bass in the first instance until one of my amps gets sold *The writer reserves the right to go out and buy another 4 string at any time as gas can be a fickle old thing*

Seen a rocktron comp locally which allows for individual compression over a range of band widths but not a modeller in any sense!

(OMFG - it worked!!) Fender Custom Shop - worth the tag?
krispn replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
If this is such a know phenomenon its a shame the custom shop don't add a little bit of info about possible anomalies - these guys and gals are working with wood all the time and know the stress and tolerances shipping and temperature changes can have on the humble plank. Or maybe it's the luithers version of "Have you switched it off and turned it on again" which they expect us all to commonly know A wee bit of info shipped in the case with your £,£££ bass might be useful. Glad to hear its all sorted though. I sold a Lakland (skyline) a few years ago due to the neck pocket not being as snug as I thought it should but in reality and looking back it probabaly wasn't really an issue! -
I played a gig on Sunday where the bass rig was supplied on a touring truck with sound crew etc - the bass head was on the blink so they ended up mic'ing the cab. Told the sound guy I had a preamp/di he was welcome to use but reassured me that he had some di boxes but couldnt be bothered and just mic'd the cab. The sound mix was pish on stage and I kinda regretted not bringing my own gear. In my covers pub band thing I bring my own gear but now the singer has bought a Bose LMII I'm not needing to bring my amp. However until we play with the Bose and in house system I'm bringing the amp to make sure I can monitor myself on stage with the drums. In a two piece with the Bose I'm happy not to bring an amp and I'm wondering if I really need one for the majority of the future gigs I have - if the on stage monitoring is OK then I'm good to play. I had thought once I started to drive I'd get the 'big rig' but for my needs I'll never need the big rig. Better off spending the money on good ear plugs!!

Nowt wrong with a Lakland! Hi IBWT I've lived in Belfast for about 10 yrs but now in Edinburgh. You'll enjoy Belfast and for good food (and now beer) go to BubbaQue and bask in their slow cooked meaty delights.

The guys who made the Basswitch, Lehle/RMI, are releasing some boost pedals with some eq shaping: If their Basswitch is anything to go by they should be pretty tasty! NBD: MIJ Fender Jazz 75, 70s spacing... but what about those EMGs?
krispn replied to mcnach's topic in Bass Guitars
Are you a little bit tempted to swap the necks over ? I got bitten by the jazz bug after thinking I needed a P bass and selling a delicious DJ4 Lakland. I put the Model J's into the next jazz I got and loved the sound. I'm currently on a P/J with Fralin's for the 'best of both' but wouldn't mind another Jazz for balance All natural with maple and white blocks would have to be the one - a Lakland ACDJ4 would be the ticket
